Only downside is that there is no driving range but you get over it pretty quickly because for how tough the course is, a driving range ain't gonna make a difference. I think this course is ideal for your afternoon round after your more serious round in the morning. I golfed at PGA West course earlier in the week and would rather golf here again! We were stopped at the turn and told we had to skip two holes due to complaints from the group behind that we were holding up play. The group behind was our friends who hadn't complained or waited for us all day. Instead of a reasonable conversation, the marshal informed us that we obviously don't play much (I was 2 over) and we didn't have a choice. As we drove down the 10th, we could see the group behind still playing approach shots to the 9th, and the group behind that wasn't even on the 9th yet. He led us to the twelfth hole, where there was a backup and we waited for every shot for the remainder of the round. I've never encountered a course employee with this type of attitude, let alone expecting it when paying this much to play.

What stood out the most though was the incredibly helpful and friendly staff. I want to give a particularly big thank you to the director of food and beverage, Keith Sansone. He helped me with something that was incredibly gracious and kind of him, he went above and beyond what you'd expect from most golf resorts. There are many many properties out in the Palm Springs Palm Desert area. I've played at almost all of them. Desert Willow hands-down has the best team of people working and supporting their operations. And as anybody could probably tell you, kind, friendly, and attentive staff make all of the difference in having a mediocre experience or having an absolutely fantastic experience. We had a fantastic time at the bar area with service from Gerardo, another Veronica, David, Ricky and Jennifer all amazing individuals. We have known Gerardo for years and he is an amazing authentic and compassionate man with a gift to serve. I often state that people and relationship far exceed the location or event and here at JW you get the best of both worlds. Wonderful people and a slice of heaven here in Palm Desert. Veronica provided us a lovely view suite with the comforts of home. Marriott offers the best in their JW lineup and we are so pleased with the amenities, choices of dining and options including the spa, fitness center and even a boat ride around the Facilities. The staff truly made our stay 5 plus stars and tomorrow we celebrate my wife's birthday at Mikado another wonderful option at JW Marriott. Being a Bonvouy card holder the point system, features and membership offers are terrific and we utilize them often. Also Michelle is housekeeping was super efficient and very kind. Great lodging, dining, amenities and an amazing array of staff members who welcome and treat you like family. A Starbucks on site, music on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's a great breakfast option at Starwood, several bars, multiple pools and water features, shops on site and even a nightclub. Lots of the pool chairs looked like they've seen better days as well as hallways and other common areas. The thing that was the most off putting is the pool seems like it's turned into a public pool. No key card is needed, no one is watching the door... anyone can walk in. I definitely noticed a lot of people who seemed to be using the pool that weren't staying at the hotel. Overall, I rather stay at other Marriott properties. The extra money isn't worth staying here.
