Apparently it's okay that a dog can't even do a basic down for $2000 and while Adinna claims she will do anything she can to support me in the transition of his learned behaviors at home, she refuses to show me those "learned" behaviors. All that I have received is excuses, implications that issues are based on my inability to read a manual and it's the transition period. Adinna is unwilling to stand behind her "work" and if she couldn't show trained commands and had to constantly make corrections, how is that dog supposed to be able to do commands at home? Pepperoni fell into our laps after a friend started fostering her to get her out of a kill shelter in South Carolina. We were in love with our snuggly girl from the start, but she was also timid, skittish, poorly behaved on the leash, and terrified of strangers (especially men). We tried to take her to a doggie daycare for socialization, but she was so terrified, she escaped within a half hour and was not allowed back. Over the course of six months, David helped us build Pepper's confidence and bring her out of her shell. She now sits with us at dog-friendly restaurants, greets every guest at the door, and just spent her first day at doggie daycare (no escaping! No hiding!) We cannot thank David enough for all he has done and his patience in going the extra mile for a more difficult case. We're so grateful to have a happy, healthy dog!

Old dogs really can learn new tricks…read more We have a rescue dachshund (Lulu) who is about 14 years old. She was from a puppy mill and suffered physical abuse which caused her to be fearful, but in aggressive ways. Our son reminded her of the abuser and she would always bark and even charge him every time he came to the house. She also didn't meet other dogs well on our walks. This went on for four years until Trish came along and gave us some pointers. Lulu is very treat oriented and using the clicker and treats she was able to learn to sit, lie down, find it, stay, watch and touch. The most profound change was with my son. We taught her to touch his hand with her nose on cue, and used treats to desensitize her to his movements. She finally has calmed down when he is here. She has also gotten more comfortable when other people come to the house. We haven't had much time on the leash training, but with the success with my son I believe that will come also. Trish is very easy to work with, and her methods and knowledge brought success to our household.

Amongst my colleagues in animal sheltering, Trish is known widely as "the shelter guru". I can't…read moreeven remember how many times I've called or emailed Trish for help with sheltering - behavior protocols, management techniques, training strategies, and operations decisions all fall under the umbrella of subjects in which Trish is an unquestionable expert. From low stress handling to defensive assessment strategies, tactics for helping fearful dogs, or optimizing intake protocols, Trish always offers a thoughtful suggestion tailored to the needs of my organization, company culture, and budget. Unlike many shelter consultants, who are sometimes a little soft after time spent on "desk duty", Trish can still handle animals like a seasoned kennel attendant. She offers individualized and group coaching on defensive handling as well as individualized handling, which is particularly useful for employees responsible for behavioral assessments. Her decades of experience and kind demeanor make her an incredible educator. Even though I live thousands of miles away in New York City, I still think that Trish is the best in the business! Any shelter or humane society would benefit significantly from her expertise.

He routinely shares pics and updates that make the whole process all the more enjoyable (check out the South.City Instagram for proof). I highly recommend James and Companion Companion. Our two dogs, which are pretty hyper 50 lb dogs, received lots of personal attention. The family runs the service out of their home, which is very dog comfy and fully fenced. Our dogs got supervised outside play as well as use of the large indoor area. There are crates and indoor runs for when they get tired or if they misbehave and need a timeout. The owners are very nice and truly love dogs. The rates are very reasonable, especially for Buncombe County (believe me, we checked around). After an initial interview (including the dogs), I was able to have them boarded and leave knowing they were in excellent hands. We will definitely be returning to Our Spot Hotel for Dogs when we need a dog sitter again!

Good for me because Dog Training is crazy expensive I noticed ( so expensive that I m going to become a dog trainer in my next life!!!) This place is different Gail tries to make dog training affordable and fun. First I went to puppy class, every Saturday for $10 a mixed puppy class with socialization training and simple tasks for owners and dogs alike. This is a hands on place , the dog is not getting "fixed" you learn how to work with the animal and what to do in any situation. After that I went to "manners 1" a six week course where you meet once weekly and work with your animal . The classes are small the place is big with a large agility area , a playground and a piece of forest to walk in. There are all kind of fun things offered Agility Training, Treibball and ongoing Manners classes up to training for service dogs. Gail is full of knowledge gives you direct feedback if you call her and a certificate after a successfully finished "Manners" class. The approach is gentle with lots of treats, no yelling no "NO" it's about leading the dog in the right direction, about being smart with the opportunists they are and build a beautiful and trusting relationship. We are happy here and will stay and come back many more times!
