This is true as of now, a few weeks back I found myself looking glass jars for preservatives; that's when I truly realize that I have completed my role from being a twenty-something free man to an early middle aged family man. This is the beginning of my downfall, the end of my wild days- days of suburbia. What has it got to do with the shop? Well, this place very much sells stuff that a family needs- not likes- needs. You will find kitchen items, study essentials, pre packed snacks for kids; all the stuff that you really need if you were to start a family from scratch. Why has it got 5 stars? That's because every time I was instructed by the almighty to find items that I had no interest and no knowledge of finding, I would find it here. Lids for jars of different size? Checked. Cover for the ironing board? Checked. Plastic boxes for organizing stuff at home? Please choose your colour. Its a really convenient place to find stuff like that and its just so good that I don't need to make 10 trips to find them in different places.

I am unsure if this was due to more focused branding. There is a good variety of home goods. My first Daiso experience was in Little Tokyo in LA and I would definitely return. Everything is the same price unless there is a sticker/sign indicating otherwise. I enjoy buying bowls and cooking utensils/ items to change your lifestyle. They have molds for heart shaped sushi rolls, onigiri, and cute bowls and jars. There is a section on grooming/accessories/cleaning/cooking/stationary.... need I go on? It is fun to just peruse the aisles. This particular location is in the basement; we walked around in circles before we were able to locate it. Once you walk inside it is like a wonder of products waiting to be discovered. This chain is basically a 100 YEN store, similar concept to a 99 cents store. However, unlike most 99 cents stores, the product quality is better (with the exception of Dollar tree which does sell some brand name products). I highly recommend going to a location and checking it out.

Love the Supermarket in the basement level. Price might be a little more than getting from other grocery store but the selection here is good and everything so clean! You might not able to find some special European import truffle or balsamic oil but I am just happy to shop here everyday! The other floor has more household products which I found them A-OK but did not wow me. For more selection, I suggest going to CSB or other bigger shopping centres. The new Japanese skin care selection on the 2nd floor though quite promising!

Probably best avoided on special 'festival' days (special shopping days for cardholders), but hard to know what those are until you rock up - and then can't move without jostling someone! The crush usually isn't so bad on the upper floors, ie away from the actual supermarket, so if you do get caught - my advice is 'in, up, out' as quickly as feasible.

It is located very prominently at the intersection of Jordan Road and Kowloon's main commercial artery Nathan Road. Back in 1995, when I lived in Hong Kong for 4 months on a work assignment, this was one of the stores I would occasionally putz around in. And now in 2024, 29 years later, it is virtually the same and it's like having walked through a time warp. It's like the old-fashioned flagship version of Macy's of Hong Kong and a store full of traditional Chinese goods and products, and some of them exotic. What struck me the most, and I recall the same sentiment back in 1995, was the number of staffers they have. It seems there are more of them than customers, and there are a lot of customers in this 5 story (plus fully stocked basement) store! Some practices are still antiquated. For example, the sister-in-law wanted to buy some dry goods in the basement, and there was an advertised 20% off promotion. To get the promotion, she had to go up to a clerk on the 5th floor to get her receipt hand-stamped. Then she returned to the basement to complete the transaction. It all took maybe 20 minutes, but it did allow us to use their interestingly tiny and slow elevator. As a tourist, it's worth a walk-through just to say you've seen the store and the surrounding historic Nathan Road shopping area.

Well, this store, Yue Hwa, still has these special blankets for sale. Even though I have 3 of them, I just couldn't help buy another. This store is huge, and I haven't had the time to really browse properly, but I really like what I've seen so far. You can really find some traditional things here, but it can be on the expensive side.

As its name suggests, it simply wants everyone to live better with their goods of desire. And I am gladly to say that they certainly do deliver that message loud and clear. And what can be better than the fact that most of their products embody Hong Kong's unique culture and also our history? They are apparently targeted to tourists to buy them as souvenirs, I mean, who does not want a road sign that says "Delay No More" while it still captures its quirky and smart meaning? Whenever I look for stuff to decorate my room, I always come here. This is mainly because all their goods are really contemporary, original and very quality. Furniture is well-designed and all those designs are the mixture of east and west - which represents Hong Kong as an international city obviously. The price is sort of costly but reasonable. You can definitely not find a place where you can find anything you want in this one tiny shop. Even if you are not looking for anything, come in for a nice stroll because sometimes the items are presented with humor and it is actually pretty fun just to have a good look at this place with your friends.

So, don't be upset if the life span of the products you buy here don't last past 6 months. I'd only come here if I knew I needed something simple and disposable, like baking tins. If you're having a kids party, this would be a great place to buy little things for the gift bags. The aisles here are pretty congested so look really hard if you're looking for something specific. If there's anything you're looking to buy, you'll probably be able to find it here. There are a couple of $12 shops around HK but my favorite one to go to is at Fashion Walk, near the Excelsior Hotel. This is one of the bigger and newer ones and everything is very nicely laid out. There are actually two $12 shops in Causeway Bay - the other one is on Canal Road East, opposite Times Square, but that one is quite old so I much prefer coming to this one at Fashion Walk. Some great buys I've had from the $12 shop include a piece of cloth that I bought to make a sleeping mask as a Mother's Day present. The reason why I decided to look here was because if I bought them at the market I would probably have to pay for a huge sheet, and that's not necessary for me because I'm just making a sleeping mask. I assumed that the cloth they sell at the $12 would be just a small sheet - but I was wrong. They didn't have that many designs but there was a really nice floral pattern that stood out, but all the sheets were huge! I could probably make 30 sleeping masks with that cloth. And for only $12, this was definitely a good deal. Another thing that's great to buy here is gift bags and gift boxes to hold presents. They have a ton of cute designs and they're inexpensive too! The $12 shop really is a one stop shop for all your shopping needs. I really enjoy shopping here because the aisles are wide and the shop never gets too crowded. I will say that I'm a little hesitant to try some of their things though. I haven't quite gathered up the courage to try their $12 eye shadow and $12 lipstick - but maybe someday!

There are some things available at Log On that I've never found anywhere else in HK though, so if you're looking for something that no other place seems to sell, try Log On! One of my favorite things about Log On is that it's very organized - I never really have a hard time looking for anything because the store is very well laid out. The staff are quite helpful as well; there have been a few times when something I want is not available at the moment, and the staff will offer to help me call up other Log Ons to see if it's in stock there, and if so they would transfer it here. That's quite helpful because for example, if what I want is only in stock at the Log On all the way at Tuen Mun, I don't have to travel all the way there for it. Log On is also a great place to buy gifts for friends. In the past, I've bought things like photo frames and backpacks for people as birthday presents. Because they sell a lot of quirky novelty things at Log On, it's wonderful for last minute gift shopping! I will warn though that there are many things at Log On that you can buy much cheaper elsewhere. For example, avoid buying stationery like pens or folders there. You can get the same things for MUCH cheaper at regular stationery shops!

Once you find something you like you have to tell the lady you want it so she can radio it in on the headset so she can bring you a brand new one that is still in the plastic package. I kind of like this concept because you know you are getting a brand new item to take home, one that doesn't have everyone's nasty oils on it. :P They also have a clearance section. If you thought you'd be overwhelmed with the main part of the store, just wait until you go to the clearance section!
