I was browsing for an engagement ring on the high street, and a man was standing at the doorway asking me if I needed any help. So inside I went, armed with the knowledge that I might actually know more about diamonds than himself. Turns out I was being greeted by the man himself! The diamonds on offer are of average quality here. There is a small selection of high grade diamonds in the store, but other than that, the computer data base provided the rest. If you are after a simple diamond ring, with a unique design to it, then this might be the place for you. Personally though, I was after a much higher grade diamond than what could be offered for the price. Nonetheless, one of the better high street jewellers in Adelaide in my opinion.

The reason I give 2 stars and not 1 is that we bought my engagement ring from them which I absolutely adore. So naturally I went back to them for the wedding ring. The service that I was provided when attempting to buy a wedding ring was just appalling from both the Marion and Rundle Mall stores. Particularly Rundle Mall where they had me in tears with their rudeness on one occasion. I never write strongly worded letters to companies, but due to the service being so poor I felt that I had to. The response from corporate customer care was lacklustre at best. There was a conditional apology, but no answers that I was seeking and no assurances that they would be able to help me in the future. I was not happy with their 'solution' and never took them up on it's offer because they wouldn't assure me that what I had already experienced would not recur. They have never followed up with me since.

They also have a nice range of brightly coloured stones, both precious and not so precious. In a nutshell - get your bling on!

If you're looking for gold watches or rings, this place has what you need. This company specialises in the latest diamond rings, custom handmade engagement rings and wedding rings. But for some reason, jewellery stores always feel so untouchable whenever I walk in. Like everything's too shiny and expensive, I don't know why I'm even trying in there! LOL Luckily I came in before it shut on Sunday, and even though they were about to close, the shop assistants were kind enough to let me have a look around and try stuff on when no other customer was inside... so they scored "diamond" points for that exclusive welcoming! haha! It's good to know that they have friendly staff in the diamond business. Plus, they have repairs and years of warranty for the watches you buy! Now that's a friendly! This biggest positive from this store, is that if you come in during their 50% off sale, you can really grab some absolute bargains on jewellery. $450 for the ladies gold watch, and ONLY $300 for the mens gold watch. You say, ONLY $300! Hmmm....you truly are untouchable. Because I can't afford anything here, I'll just leave you alone and let you close the store now. I walked away singing, "Price tags, price tags, go away, I might come back another day!"

I walked in a little while ago to have a look for an engagement ring. I was Greeted by the owner of store Bill and found out this has been in his family for almost a century, that's 100 years in business! They must be doing something right I thought and I was to find out later that's an understatement. Bill was extremely helpful. He explained that you could pick from an existing design or design your own engagement ring which is what I ended up doing. They worked with my budget and even discounted a little to get exactly what I wanted. The workmanship really showed top quality not like those chain stores like Michael Hill and Tiffany's because Archer & Holland hand make there Jewellery not cast which is fragile. I even got to see Bill working on the ring during the process and he knows what he is doing being a master Jeweller with 40 yrs experience manufacturing jewellery. He really captured my design and imagination and lads when your going to pop the big question this is the place to get the goods. In ending she or he can only say yes with an A&H engagement ring.

The hook broke and I couldn't wear it anymore. My girlfriend at the time wasn't too upset. She thought the chain made me look like a wog. (And, to her credit, it kind of did.) But it was a gift from my godfather for my baptism, and I've always liked it. So, after splitting with that girl, I thought it was as good a time as any to get my old gold chain fixed. I'd mainly been putting it off for expense. I didn't think it would cost TOO much, but I couldn't be sure. Finally, biting the figurative bullet, I went for it. It turns out, it wasn't even really broken. Something had just come a little loose, and I'd wedged it the wrong way. I still don't really understand the particulars of the situation. All I know is the brilliant staff at Wishart gave it one look, gave it a few prods, returned it to me on the spot, and charged nothing. I will be returning.

I even called to speak to a consultant before making the purchase to discuss the purchase. After one week I heard nothing, so I called to follow up & was promised a call back. I didn't get one, so the next day, I followed up again. Finally, I was told that someone else sold the item I bought & there was no other one available. What would've happened if I didn't follow up? As if that wasn't bad enough, I was then offered a lab grown diamond in place of the natural diamond product I purchased!! I offered other suggestions but was met with a rigid response, so I asked to speak to the online manager to work through a solution. She didn't even have the care to manage a phone call to resolve the situation. Just a throw away email a day & a half later. Now, nearly 10 days after my purchase, I receive an email advising that I'll get a refund.. which will take up to another 10 days. That's nearly 3 weeks before I can shop for an alternative, which means I will likely run out of time & have no present for a milestone anniversary. Thanks for turning a moment of celebration into a moment of stress Shiels!! Clearly we have different ideas of what "the leading jewellery retailer in Australia" means.

When you go into the shop, you see them working on strange machines at the back of the shop, from where they greet you with smiles. Every piece in the shop is unique - nothing is mass produced or reproduced. They make many pieces by customer request, and are happy to use your own designs or work with you to make a design that best suits you. This would be a beautiful way to have your wedding rings made, or a piece for a special occasion. They also do remodellings, and can make pieces from your own gold, so if you have a special piece that you want to turn into something else, you can keep the original material. Daughters Katrin and Michaela both design and make their own jewelry, which is quite different in style from each other's work as well as from their parents. There is so much to look at in this shop. Because of how it is made, most of the pieces have an almost medieval feel, which is so unique and interesting. They use a wide range of different stone and gems in their base materials, and it seems they could make anything you or they can conceive of.

It's refreshing and great to know that every piece belongs to itself. There aren't really any copies here, and certainly no mass-productions. I feel I should mention that just because the products aren't static, doesn't mean they're all strange and unusual. This is still stuff you'd want to wear or own. This isn't some sort of strange Gothic store or anything (though there are SOME goods that might make you think that).
