Threatened with Disenrollment for Asking a Simple Question…read more I rarely write public reviews, but my recent experience with Little Scholars Academy and staff member Shehara Devendra left me shocked and disappointed. The issue began with something simple: I dropped off extra clothes for my child and was told they would be labeled by the school. Later, when I picked them up, none had been labeled as promised. I politely messaged the school, explained the situation, and respectfully requested that only the unlabeled items be returned so I could label them myself. What I received in response was not acknowledgment or accountability, but vague reassurances and generic replies that completely ignored the specific concern I had raised. Instead of acknowledging the oversight, I was told to "trust the process" -- as if my concern was rooted in distrust, when in reality I had simply asked for follow-through and clarity. I remained calm and polite in every message, even thanking them multiple times. At no point did I use disrespectful or inappropriate language. Despite this, I was later told by the Director that my child's enrollment could be discontinued if I was ever "disrespectful" again. After receiving that email from the Director, my family felt humiliated, anxious, and unsure of what to do next. After much hesitation, we decided to email the school to withdraw our child from enrollment. The school replied, asking us which date we wanted our child's last day to be. Because we were unfamiliar with their withdrawal process, we politely asked for more detailed guidance -- specifically, what the procedure would be and what date would work for the school. Instead of receiving any instructions, the school simply stopped responding. Then, one morning at drop-off, I was confronted at the door by staff member Shehara. She blocked the entrance and demanded that I give her a specific last day for my child's attendance. This was done while my child was crying in fear and distress, and while other parents were lined up behind us trying to drop off their children. I asked her repeatedly if my child was allowed to attend class that day, but she replied that she "didn't know" and insisted I give her a date immediately. In the end, I had to almost ask for permission for my child to enter class, promising I would confirm the withdrawal date later that day. Only then did she allow my child to go inside. This was not the only example of pressured compliance. Shehara insisted we purchase the school's preferred diaper brand, even though we already had a large supply of another suitable brand, making us feel that noncompliance might result in mistreatment of our child. The Director, who has never been present during our drop-offs or pick-ups, nonetheless defended her staff without ever having witnessed these incidents. Rather than working with us as partners in our child's care, they created an environment where asking a simple question was treated as a disciplinary problem. As a parent, I believe in collaborating with teachers and staff, and in standing up when communication breaks down and basic respect is lacking. I expected better from a school entrusted with my child's care. It's disappointing that a parent raising a simple concern -- calmly and constructively -- could be treated as a disciplinary problem, then later confronted publicly at the school door, instead of being treated as a partner in their child's education. I share this experience in the hope it brings attention to the importance of accountability, empathy, and clear communication in childcare. Parents should be able to ask questions and express concerns without being threatened with disenrollment, ignored when seeking guidance, or put in uncomfortable and public confrontations during drop-off. I strongly urge parents to consider these experiences before enrolling at Little Scholars Academy. Your family deserves a school that values transparency, respect, and true partnership with parents.

However, the staff were very patient with her crying all day for a few weeks before she finally adjusted. She now loves her teachers and her school. She has learned a lot about self-advocacy and exploration. Our child has really thrived in the toddler classroom and brings homes the systems and structures of Montessori, picking up after herself, problem solving and a lot of self-play (free time for parents!). She has grown in all the basic skills you would expect from a nearly three-year-old. The small size of the school means the teachers really know the students and the outdoor play area is fantastic! Not to mention the indoor classroom is very organized and teaches structural skills. Overall, Ms.Martha and Ms. Castellon have provided a great environment for our child to grow in confidence and skill. Ms. Allison is truly dedicated to creating an atmosphere of love and growth. A few of the drawback of the school are the schedule, they do close at 5:30pm, which can make it tough for working parents. There are also a few breaks throughout the year, so it is better if you have someone who can help with childcare during these days off so you don't use up your own personal time off. Lastly, they don't provide snacks or meals, so you will have to provide that - though that can be a plus if you've got a picky eater.

Five Years of Love, Support, and an Extraordinary Community…read more I cannot say enough wonderful things about Childtime, Ms. America, and the incredible women who have loved, cared for, and supported my daughter and me through the first five years of her life. When my daughter first started at Childtime, I never could have imagined that I would find so much more than a daycare and preschool. I found a community. The women at this school walked alongside me through the first five years of motherhood, answering questions about everything from breastfeeding and building a stored milk supply to feeding, sleeping, potty training, toddler tantrums, and even navigating parenting through divorce. They supported not only my daughter, but me. I will forever be grateful for the care, wisdom, patience, and encouragement they gave our family. I especially cannot say enough about Ms. America, the school director. Her stewardship of a team that has created such a loving and supportive community is truly remarkable. Her care for my daughter, her care for me, and the countless pieces of advice she has shared with me over the last five years mean more to me than I could ever put into words. She has created an environment where families feel known, supported, and genuinely cared for. Ms. Kanice and Ms. Dianne were the steadfast and loving leaders of my daughter's first year in the infant room. They did just as much to soothe me as they did to soothe my baby! They took incredible care of both of us and gave me so much confidence during a very new and sometimes overwhelming season of motherhood. Ms. Liz and Ms. Diana were there as my daughter transitioned from a baby into a toddler, and they took such incredible care of my growing girl. As her energy grew and she mastered milestone after milestone, I knew that Liz and Diana were layering learning, structure, encouragement, and love into her every day. They helped her grow while making sure she felt safe, seen, and celebrated. I am so thankful for Ms. Melanie, who my daughter had next. The time she spent in her classroom was truly formative. Melanie is a master of potty training--she had my daughter out of daytime diapers in just 10 days, and she was out of bedtime diapers at home within another week! But even more valuable than that was the guidance she gave me as a mom. Following Melanie's advice gave me a roadmap through the "terrible twos" and the "threenage" years. I genuinely don't know where I would have been without her wisdom, consistency, and support during those years. And then there are Ms. Stella and Ms. Marlene, who have made an indelible mark on both my daughter's heart and mine. They have fostered such a rich learning environment that my daughter has developed a genuine hunger to learn. They have prepared her incredibly well for kindergarten and have helped her build a strong foundation in the traditional academic subjects and so much more. What makes Stella and Marlene especially wonderful, though, is that they know my daughter not simply as a student, but as a person. They have dedicated so much time and care to fostering her social development and understanding her unique heart, personality, likes, dislikes, strengths, and challenges. They have loved her so well, and I will always be grateful for that. Every one of these teachers has gone above and beyond the call of duty. They have poured love, patience, knowledge, and care into my daughter, and they have supported me through some of the most important and challenging years of my life. Childtime has been so much more than a school for our family. It has been a village. It has been a place where my daughter was loved, nurtured, challenged, encouraged, and celebrated--and where I, as her mom, was never made to feel like I had to figure everything out alone. Five years is a long time to entrust someone with your child, and I can honestly say I would make the same choice all over again. I am beyond thankful for Ms. America and every teacher who has been part of our journey. Room 2 was also a wonderful experience, especially with Ms. Brett, whom my youngest absolutely adored. Seeing him so excited to go to school each day and knowing he felt loved by his teacher meant everything to me. My oldest was lucky enough to have Ms. Venessa in Room 3, and she was truly the best. We were so sad when she left before my youngest got the chance to have her too. Room 3 had a few rocky moments with teacher changes, but I always felt like Ms. Tammy was doing her absolute best, and there was consistently support from the other classrooms whenever needed. Room 4 was another wonderful chapter for us with Ms. Clarissa and Ms. Evelyn. Every step of the way, the school was so communicative, supportive, and informative. When I enrolled my son, he had just turned two. He had always been cared for by relatives, but I wanted him to have the chance to socialize with kids his own age, as he is an only child. My son is neurodivergent and nonverbal. After about a month at this school, my son was still having trouble adapting. He would cry every morning at drop-off and, according to the staff, seemed unhappy throughout the day. I attributed this to the adjustment period, knowing that some children can take months to settle into a new environment. Unfortunately, things escalated when the director pulled me aside and told me my son was "making the school look bad." I was asked if he was autistic or if he had a disability that meant he needed to be in a different environment. That is not something any parent wants or deserves to hear. The school also refused to accommodate his needs--no comfort items like blankets or stuffed animals were allowed. Eventually, we were told we could no longer attend due to his excessive crying. I want to add that my son is not aggressive in any way. In fact, he was bitten twice by other children at this facility, yet my son was the issue. I am honestly relieved we left. My son now attends a different daycare with other children and absolutely loves it. He's thriving, participates in all activities, and the adjustment only took three weeks. I would not recommend this school to anyone, especially families with neurodivergent children. The attitude and lack of compassion from the director made it feel like my child was being treated as though he had a contagious disease.

What alot of the post say here about the Director is true. She is a money loving individual who just cares about money rather then the kids and staff. Unfortunately I had to take out my children due to her lack of empathy towards parents and children. She more than often would become quite disrespectful not only to her teachers but parents as well. Its unfortunate to see how a place so bright and beautiful show its true colors behind closed doors.
