We had our daughters Sweet 16 at the center on January 2023 and it was AMAZING! I started planning…read moreher party early 2022. I was determined to have it at this location. I'll share there was a bit of a wait to get a response, but now I understand how they handle each request to rent the facility. Just be patient folks. I got to tour the facility, sign a contract and kept in touch with Jennifer, who by the way is awesome! Rental fee's vary depending on what you want, for example, if you want to serve alcohol at your event, then you'll need one or two SJPD depending on the size of your event, in addition, your cost will increase. I chose the option to rent the facility for two hours 12-2p for set up (we set up 17 tables with 6 chairs) enough seating for 96 people but the facility does hold more than 96, I just don't recall what that number is. Then from 5-10p was our party and 10-11p was clean up. There was two staff on hand at the counter the whole time and were very pleasant. Shout out to Charles and Edie. We had a taco person come in and use the kitchen to serve the food. I had a sweets table, DJ, main table, backdrops and gift table. Everything was perfect. Note: No balloons are allowed - if one gets lose the ceiling is super high. Certainly not an issue for me as I was determined to use the facility and most places have restrictions in place for a reason. So if you're okay with rules/policies/restrictions there shouldn't be an issue for you when renting the facility. All in all, my experience was great and I will definitely use their facility again.

Sounds fair. So this is the place where I will be throwing my daughters party. Ill keep ya posted. May I add Maria in the office staff is very professional and made the process so easy.

Have you ever done the, "make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich" dance? If you haven't, you…read moreshould. You grab the ingredients, you spread on the toppings with both arms, and you dance it all around. That is how we got warmed up to race. Parking, at 7:15 was fast and right across the street: $10 Packet pick-up: Easy cheesy. Porto potties: At least they had them, right? Bag check: Free! They have a security guard watching over them. Obstacles: An adult playground. There was a back-up at the first obstacle, as they wanted people to get into groups of 8. That wasn't working, so it was more like awkward waves. A large bouncy pad with about 6 semi-tall barriers you launch yourself over. It was surprisingly challenging. There were: Two elevated slip & slides into shallow pools of water. One was supposed to have foam but it wasn't pumping correctly. A huge swirling cross pad, you had to run with it or against it along a narrow platform. Inflated balls that you had to balance and jump across. I made it onto the first one and couldn't stand up to launch to the next, so I flung off the side and laughed as I bounced to the ground. An inner tube water slide into a pool of water. A leap of faith onto an inflated bulls eye. Two huge rotating balls that chased you, as you tried to run across a slippery plank. I almost made it but lost my footing on the last step, splooosh! Two large stair/rope climbs to slides. The last one will give you a wedge. We only waited a couple of minutes to take an optional finisher photo and they handed us our medals. I love the photo opportunities, you scan your bracelet before you get onto the obstacle and they snap a picture of you. Bouncy, bouncy,..fun, fun, fun, fun, fun.

My 3rd year doing this and second at this location, safe to say I won't be doing it again…read more - ''Jump balls'' were not inflated properly. As soon as I stepped onto it I sunk so far I could feel the ground underneath my feet. I'm not exactly heavy either at 102lb. ''Jumping'' from one to the other was in no way possible nor an option. That's some lass ass bs excuse of an obstacle. Previous years this has been my favorite. - No foam on the ''Foam of Fury'', just water. Seriously?! - Not enough water on the ''Cool'' Running's''. Out of the 40 or so people that I saw tried to go down it they all had to get off and walk to the the end (where you are supposed to land in the pool) because friction had them stop. Myself included. Lame. - VIP entry I got my tech shirt upgrade but Hubs didn't. + You actually got a medal this year. + Vendors after the event handing out drinks. Neutral: You had a tag on your wristband which you swipe at obstacles to indicate you wanted your picture taken. I'm neutral on this because for the price of the registration fee I feel this should be included. My advice for the event organizers - Have the obstacles as advertised and either 1. reduce the price of registration (upwards of $65 plus fee's for a 5k is obscene) 2. Add more obstacles.

See here's another non-moniker trail that I've been using for years…read more This, along with "Hassler Hill" on the other side of Silver Creek Valley Rd are part of my 1-mo regimen I use to train for Mission Peak every year. I'd count this as a step-up from the regular flat trails you're used to walk-jogging and Hassler HIll as the true test to your incline tolerance. It parallels Farthsworth Drive with Silver Oak Elementary at one end and Silver Creek Valley Rd on the other, a good 2 miles forward and back. Across Farnsworth of course is the gated Silver Creek Valley Country Club where all the (ex) Niners used to parlay and get their heads straight during a winning season =P. It has its shares of decent inclines and flat paths and the residents/exercisers are really friendly with their morning greetings. I should forewarn you about the drivers on Farnsworth though: Some just don't have the patience to merge onto the main road after dropping their kids off at the school. One even tried to hang an illegal U-ie in his white Benz this morning (from a fire curb what have you!)... who does that?? As long as you're on the walking trail of Farnsworth hill you should be safe. But sheesh, parents just don't understand.

The one negative (if you can call it that) is that there's no street parking along the northerly side of Park Estates Way. My recommendation -to help you not piss off the residents on the south side of Park Estates- is to park in the Community Center parking lot. As you can see, this park has a lot going for it, and yet most people don't even know it exists. Lucky for you, I'm here to educate and inform.

However, since I was bringing my dog and my cat (first time), I wanted to make sure it was an easy trail for both of them. My Shiba Inu is 8, with developing arthritis, so this was an easy and short trail for her to do. Took us about an hour to complete the loop that we were on. If you need a break, there's two benches available to take a break at with a pretty nice view. If your dog is a squirrel chaser, I would not recommend this trail at all. There were so many squirrels!! Luckily for me, I had a good hold of my dog, but if she was a much larger breed, she'd probably pulled me left and right and would take me forever to get her back. So yes, I would not recommend this trail for dogs who get overly excited when seeing squirrels. Unless you're strong enough to hold them back every minute because I saw 2-10 squirrels every second ..not exaggerating. Out of respect for other Hikers who are afraid of dogs, pet is required to be on leash at all time. Waste bag is provided by park at the entrance of trail. Mountain biking is not allowed but I saw a lot of people with their bikes still. Some even on the trail. But they were respectful to hikers that day. So I'm not complaining. The drive up was super easy also! I'll be returning a few more times this year since my dog loved it very much.

At the beginning of the trail, we had to choose between the north and south routes. We decided to head south after seeing more trees and shaded paths. The trail is easy and more than half of the route is shaded, which was nice, but the section along Highway 101 was quite noisy and took away from the peacefulness of the walk. We walked about 1.8 miles to Silicon Valley Blvd and then turned around and returned the same way. With the hot weather, the trail wasn't as enjoyable as I hoped. I may come back another time to try the north trail and see if I like that route better.
