    Conquered :)

So a friend and I signed up for the race and it was pretty good. We had the 10:30 am start and now that I have done one of these I know now I need to start the earliest one if possible. There was so many people waiting and if you want to breeze through the course in a timely manner you want to be the earliest. The lines started getting 30-100 people deep at certain parts of the race. THIS IS NOT A RACE BTW...JUST A FUN RUN. There were 7 obstacles. None very challenging except for the wrecking ball, and the "Big Red Balls" ... It didn't even feel like a 5k to be honest. We did start late for some reason :( It wasn't very organized from what I can tell and the lines again were crazy stupid. All in all worth the $$$ ... I got my ticket on groupon! I PROS: Good Workout, Not to challenging, fun, big crowd (nice scenery especially if you are a guy) CONS: Long lines, no food except for 3 trucks, NO ALCOHOL, Not a lot of obstacles, and started late If you want to check out some of the obstacles I made a video with some music at the race: http://youtu.be/gAgwFcO2Ys0

Horrible location for bib pick up. And a long ass line.

I am probably echoing others for the same things, but here's my point of view. Overall, the race and obstacles were a lot of fun. The one thing I would change is the packet pick up as others have addressed. That particular Sports Authority they chose to utilize has a parking lot that is super small and a pain in the butt to get to on a Friday night for anyone north of there. Also, I still don't know why the lines (at 6pm) were so long. I found out after checking my email, I too, should have received more items since I also signed up in the initial registration. I ended picking up the extra stuff the day of the race, so that worked out, but it was a little uncoordinated and people who work with the even never seem to have an answer. Race parking was fine ($10) or free if you just parked up the street or so. I arrived around 9:15 to check things out even though my race wave was 10:30am. Around 9:45, they started announcing the 10am and 10:30am to line up. Apparently, they were grouping folks together, but left that information out. Considering how long the course was (just about 3 miles) and the obstacle line delays (jumping balls, some of the slides), I am happy I went at 10am. The Fairgrounds is a tricky place for a race. I've done a few here before and it's always hot because of the dirt. There were two water stations, but when you asked the volunteers, they had no idea where they were or when they were. Each obstacle had water for their workers I assume, so I just asked them for a bottle towards the end even though there was a water stop right before the next to last challenge. (I had asked them and they had no idea) I loved the tech tee for signing up early since the white standard shirts looked like they would shrink. I met some really great folks along they way who may have thought every obstacle would be water vs. the last 3-4 were. Overall, this race was fun and I had a great workout. I'm still sore two days later even though I enter 10k's pretty regularly. Of course there are things they can improve upon, but overall, not bad. I do agree with some people that feel we got ripped off for signing up early only to see Groupon's and many other advertisements for cheaper costs. I just hope the majority of the proceeds go the charity and hope it comes back to this area again.

I signed up for this once I heard it was up in the Bay area and a friend had recommended it to me. I was super duper excited and after watching several episodes of American Ninja Warrior on TV I was totally psyched to try something like this out. I went in with the 12pm heat. I got to the parking lot around 11:30am and thought I had enough time to process through packet pickup, t-shirt and bag drop off...and I managed to race through that initial obstacle just in time for the starting call for my 12pm heat. Everything went through smoothly and there wasn't much of a line at all. Prior to the kick off, there was a super duper excited woman on the mic who did a few lame stretches and her crazy squat thing but she was entertaining and got everyone off to a fun start. The first half of the race was all dry and kind of meh! The bouncy balls thing though looked like trouble if you actually attempted to run across the tops. I just opted to hop over them so I don't twist an ankle or anything (I'm getting old and can't risk injuring myself!) Then came the tube slide thing which was fun and finally got us wet. It was a pretty nice day but it did get a bit hot after running 1.5 miles. To clean us up after that was the suds slide and then the wrecking balls. They definitely need more wrecking ball lines! This was definitely the biggest back up! It was a fun thing for all the spectators and ourselves to watch though....definitely harder than I thought to make it all the way across without falling into the water. Anyway, race was fun. I think it was worth the money and it was something different than your every day 5K. I'd do it again!

Super fun !!! If you ever decide to do it, go at the EARLIEST time that you could possibly do it .. Cause it is HOTTTTTTT AS HELLLLL out here !!! Bad day to forget to put on sunscreen.. I'm dying. Lol Also wait Til tickets go on groupon to buy tickets ! The staff are super friendly and they try to be efficient as much as they could ! :)

Was super excited to do this race with a group of people. I usually do races solo or with my hubby, but since we were in a group together, I figured it would be really fun. Our group's wave was at 12:45.We got there early enough and ended up going with the 12:15 wave. (I don't think anyone noticed. They just had police officers/security in the corral to make sure you had a bib.) "Cool Runnings" was the first water obstacle and finally getting wet and cool from the hot sun felt really good. Race day was pretty warm, I'd say in the high 80's. Since we started shortly after noon, I felt that hot sun on my shoulders and back! I think the hardest obstacle was "Jump Balls". While waiting in line, I didn't see anyone make it across all 3 balls. I was afraid I was going to hurt myself just jumping off the platform. Thankfully I came out with no injuries. =) The last obstacle which was the "Waterslide" was my all time favorite!! I probably should have done it more than once since I probably won't be able to experience this type of slide again. I definitely felt like a little kid. High fives on: -Packet pick up: Very fast! Only waited for about 5 min. Bag check was even faster. I commend them on that! Usually you're waiting forever! -All the volunteers did a great job. I liked that they cheered you on and made sure you were having fun (and getting wet!) -Porta potties were plentiful. Thank goodness! -Waiting times for each of the obstacles wasn't bad. The longest time waiting was for the "Wrecking Ball." I think this one had a waiting time of about 15 minutes? Thumbs down on: -I paid regular price of $70 when I saw it advertised on Groupon a few weeks before the race, of course for less. =( So, minus 1 star for that. -I was disappointed about was not getting any pictures taken. I didn't have a go-pro and I wasn't going to damage my Iphone from the water, so I was kinda counting on the race's photographers to take some pics. However, once the photos were posted on the website, I searched thru all the images and didn't see any! So, minus another star for that.

I'd give it 5 stars but it's tooooo pricy for wat you get But overall we had ton of fun Very organized and goes smooth We signed up for 11:30 run and that was perfect because you get drenched thorough out and that cools you off I would not go earlier because I was borderline getting cold !! Ladies beware, T shirts run big !

This race is crazy! I've done 5k races before, but nothing like this! This course was made for fun. It's not too hard, any age over 13 can do it! Whether you're fit or not, you will have an amazing time! Make sure you bring an extra set of clothes to change into for after because you WILL get wet! I would recommend this race to all my friends. If you enjoy watching the show "wipe out" and have always wanted to try it, this is the race for you!!

    So much fun!

We arrived within those 5 minutes, but she was busy with another customer, so we waited a few minutes for her to acknowledge us. Instead of checking us in, she stalled briefly and then told us we had missed the grace period and could not be checked in. This was extremely frustrating because we were physically there within the grace period. I even have map timeline data showing our exact arrival time. Had they not been short-staffed or delayed in assisting us, we would have made it onto the tour without any issue. To make matters worse, we were told that a manager would follow up the next day to reschedule us. That never happened. No call, no email, nothing. Overall, this was a very disappointing experience driven entirely by poor communication and lack of accountability. I would not recommend booking here based on how they handle customers when issues arise.

When we arrived to check him in, he was placed into the last cabin available, which consisted of 15 other 5th through 8th graders who all treated him like bullsh!t because of his encopresis and hearing loss. In particular, one guy who came in THE DAY AFTER CAMP STARTED and chose one of FOUR bunk beds available, which just so happened to be the one right under my son's! He started berating my son about how messy he is, and it got to the point where the cabin's counselor had to intervene, and not only that, he discovered my son's encopresis, which he hasn't directly mentioned to any student at this point. They decided that it was emotionally too much for my son, and that I would pick him up halfway through the camp. Not to mention, all students were required to take choir ALONGSIDE the instrument they played, which for my son, who is very shy about his voice, was WAAAAY too much. The choir director was also the lead counselor, the WORST person in the entire camp! She never even mentioned this, but apparently, you are supposed to arrive 10 minutes early to every meal, which his cabin failed to do because she never even mentioned it! As a result, his cabin would arrive 15 minutes before each meal, and he did not do anything wrong! Unacceptable. We won't be coming back. Just a side note, this review is for a program (La Honda Music Camp) that was hosted at this location, not the site itself. This is because apparently, it's so little known that there is nothing on Yelp about it.

During the 90 minutes my rotation had for this course, I ended up doing 4 of the 6 available challenges: 1. Tight Rope: I basically climbed up a bunch of staples and walked across a rope that was 30 ft in the air. It was nerve wracking, but it helped to know I was secure and wasn't going to fall into anything. Tricky, but a pretty fun way to start off since you can hold onto a series of several ropes that are hanging above you along the way. 2. ZIPLINE: I think this is scary when you climb up to the platform, but after that this is by far the most relaxed and enjoyable experience. Once you push off, everything is secure, and all you can really do is savor the few moments in your life that you will spend feeling like a bird! Beautiful, beautiful view along the way :) 3. The Broken Bridge: This is a bunch of planks. You can hang on to the rope that secures you, but the point is kind of to not hold onto anything and to try and walk across this unsteady bridge stretched up about 15 ft above the ground. It was pretty fun, and I felt a lot better once I started taking a few steps on it to get used to the feeling. 4. Leap of Faith: This is the scariest, gutsiest part of the course, I think. You basically climb up a 30 ft pole, stand on the very end of it, and then jump off to try and catch a trapeze. I was really nervous about this one and it was the last one I did, but obviously, I lived to tell the tale, and I don't regret trying it out one bit. Ten-out-of-ten, would do it againnnn. The two I didn't do: 5. The Catwalk: You basically climb up and walk across a log without holding on to anything. Yes, you are still secured to a rope, haha. BUt the point is to balance and stretch your boundaries by walking across, doing jumping jacks, walking backwards--whatever you want. I didn't do this one, but a lot of my coworkers chose to walk backwards on it once they made it across the first time. 6. The Swings: This is literally a set of wooden plank swings attached to a log that you have to get across. It seemed physically intense. I didn't do this one, but a lot of people had fun with it and made it across either sitting on the planks or standing on them. As someone who is usually afraid of heights, I thought I was definitely NOT looking forward to this. The breakthrough that you reach while you go on this course, though, is its whole point. Lupe and Trinity, two of the main people running the course, are super friendly, and all of the staff are great about making you feel safe, encouraged, and welcome. Overall, the course was fantastic for helping my work team up its enthusiasm and unity during our mid-year slump, and it was nice that I ended up surprising myself (what?) with how I was able to settle my nerves and jump off of 30-foot high things with abandon....
