It's hard to write a detailed review about a place where the details need to be kept a secret. It's great to see a new wave of game venues spring up in the city and Adventure Rooms is another hit. There are currently two puzzle rooms. You and your team have 60 minutes to escape. It may look pretty easy and basic when you walk in but it anything but easy. Apparently only 30% of the groups can solve the rooms, even we couldn't solve the first room and we consider ourselves a bunch of clever-cookies. If you plan on visiting, I recommend getting a big group of people and playing dual, two teams battling to get out first! I don't won't to spoil too much, but I will mention that there is a fun dynamic of genuine handcuffs I really liked this place, good location right on Rundle Mall. All they need now is a liquor license and snacks. My only dig would be that with only two puzzle rooms (soon to be three) it does limit your customer return rate; once you know how to get out, you know forever. I hope in the future they expand with more rooms or just turn over the puzzles in each room frequently. read more
I'd heard about these rooms in overseas locations and on an episode of The Big Bang Theory so when my friend invited me along to have a crack at Adelaide's Adventure Rooms, I was most excited to be part of the group. There is precious little detail to be found online about what to expect; just that it's not claustrophobic, dark or too restrictive and there are no horror elements. There is an emergency exit that you can bounce through at any time if you're not feeling it. Entry into the building is through a lift in Rundle Mall that I have passed a million times and never ever noticed. You are given a quick briefing before entering and then off you go. You can keep all your personal belongings in a tub in the room too, so no need to worry about what's going on with your bag or phone - just focus on the puzzles! The mystery surrounding the adventure means you get into the room with no ideas or expectations and that is perfect for what lies ahead. We had a large group so entered under dual mode where we were divided into teams of two to tackle the Black Queen. OMG SO GOOD. The puzzles are clever, well thought-out and give opportunity for everyone to participate. No physical strength is required, just a whole lot of mental muscle. Ambient music and the pressure to either catch our opponents or get out of the room before they caught us added to the heightened atmosphere. Currently there is only a 30% success rate for teams to escape the rooms . . . well, I don't like to brag but we SMASHED IT so felt pretty jolly pleased with ourselves afterwards. Speaking to the staff afterwards, we were told there is a new room opening within a matter of weeks, so if you've already tackled The Black Queen and the Mad Scientist, then prepare yourself for Jailbreak! We were also told that rooms will be turned over and puzzles changed up every few months or so - allowing previous visitors to come back and try their luck. This would make a great team building event or just a fun activity to do with mates. Price varies depending how many people you have - we had 11 and paid $30 each for dual mode which I thought was reasonable for the level of fun I had. read more
This was my fifth escape room from four different businesses. While I am not a fanatic crossing off escape rooms around the globe (well I have done one in London), I am well versed at "attempting" to escape from them. Now, I would recommend any escape room company. All have the same gist - you are locked in a room and you need to escape by solving puzzles hidden around the room. They are all fun, challenging, and test the strength of a relationship (it could be a seriously insightful for a first date). But, Adventure Rooms would have to be my favourite. And here is why: - Their customer service is incredible. The staff have a real passion for their work. It makes a big difference to the experience. - The level of detail in the rooms surpasses other rooms I have done. - The rooms are big. A large group can comfortably fit. - The puzzles in two of the rooms change so you can re-do them in the future. - There are no annoying long-winded character biographies hidden in the rooms. Some people might like that. I do not. Give me more puzzles I say. - They have $!@&?#, and I really love the @&*! ¥$. Oh, and the @£&$!& is just genius. Well I can't give it away. Just take my word for it and go to Adventure Rooms. You can easily book online. I know I will be going back to try the other two rooms. read more

Being curious about how these places were we booked in a group of 6 and had a great time. The price was reasonable and the staff friendly. The setup looked very professional and fun was had by all. Looking forward to doing the next level room. read more
I'd seen an example of this on Big Bang Theory and so I couldn't wait to try our own here in Adelaide! I was in a group of 12 and we took the lift up from Rundle Mall to start our adventure. On arrival we were split into 2 groups of 6 to undertake the Mad Scientist Adventure. After a brief introduction and explanation of the 'rules' from our host, our group were led into the first room. As there were so many of us - each team was given a room and had 30 minutes to solve the puzzle to find the key to get out! Then we moved onto the room that our opposing team had just tried to solve. The key (pardon the pun!) to this is to work as a team, melding your intelligent minds to solve each 'quest' and then moving on to the next item. Not surprisingly - I was on the winning team (hehe!) and we managed to get out of our first room with 8 minutes left on the clock - which was fab when you consider that only 30% of teams actually get out! We weren't so cocky about the next room however as we were stuck in there until the clock ran out. All in all we had a brilliant time and I'd highly recommend giving this a go to everyone. At just $28 a head, it's a great way to start an evening as it only takes up just over an hour of your time. read more

Adventure Room was excellent fun. First I've ever done but fulfilled my expectations. Staff are extremely friendly and have excellent customer service. Only sad thing is, once I've escaped I don't really have the desire to do it again. I look forward to a change in rooms some time. Definitely recommend it as a team building activity!! Thanks for the puzzling fun and effort put into the rooms! read more
