This was our first visit to Arizona and being from the East coast, we were a little intimidated at the thought of hiking in such a different environment. For that reason, I did a little research and found Adventure Outside to book a guided hike. This was a great plan. Ian met us at the trailhead at 9am and after brief intros, we were on our way. Ian was the perfect guide...friendly, engaging, informative and flexible. We had made good time on our hike to Bridal Falls and he was more than happy to take an alternative trail down. This added a bit more mileage, made a nice loop, and we saw the elusive Gila Monster. All the way around, it was a great last day of vacation. History

Established in 2018.

After teaching in the Arizona public school system for 5 years, Otto saw the desperate need for local youth to get out and explore the Sonoran Desert and Tucson region. To this end, he sponsored an Adventure Club to help expose students to the amazing outdoor opportunities all around them. After seeing the success of that program and the impact it had on his students' lives, Otto was inspired to commit himself fully to to the mission of getting kids outside. He spent the next 7 years guiding for and eventually managing the operations of the #1 rated guide service and one of the largest youth nonprofits in Yosemite National Park. While Yosemite holds a special place in his heart, Otto held out on a dream to one day bring the same caliber of guiding and youth programming found in our national parks back home to the Old Pueblo. Finally, Otto decided to make that dream a reality and created the startup Tucson needed: Adventure Outside.

Meet the Business Owner: Otto R.

Otto grew up in Tucson Arizona where he fell in love exploring the outdoors. After studying to be a teacher at the University of Arizona, Otto taught for 5 years in a local public school where he started an "Adventure Club" to help get local youth outside. In the summers, Otto would guide youth backpacking trips in Yosemite National Park and would eventually move up to help run one of the largest youth nonprofits and guide companies in Yosemite National Park. While Otto loves the Sierras, he always felt a pull to return to his home state of Arizona and start his own guide company and youth programs.
