I have gone to this facility 3 times in the last 3 years and they have messed up 2 times. this time they did not have anyone call me to preregister me and my insurance after i made my appointment. So i got turned away till i made another appointment and made sure they noted i had insurance and this was preventive care that i get screened for every year. the next appointment they charged me even though i was in network and this NEVER used to cost me anything. After paying the bill I called my insurance and they will be giving me a refund. GET IT TOGETHER PEOPLE.!!!!! I realize that times are weird right now, but your a hospital, and i worry about the care you may be giving others . read more

I went to the ER because of extreme pain in my lower right abdomen, yes, the same area as the appendix. After over 4 hours of NOTHING being done to relieve the pain or find out what was causing my pain I left. At least at home I could control the pain somewhat. I suppose I should be grateful that it wasn't my appendix that burst or I'd probably be dead now. While I was waiting to be seen all sorts of people were coming in with doctor orders for x-rays, etc., and they were being seen. I guess extreme pain doesn't count as an emergency at this ER!! As I write this I'm still in pain but I won't go back there as they were NO help at all. If you have a doctors order go for it, then they'll see you. I guess that's where the money is!! I'm so pissed off at their entire staff for completely wasting my time and not caring about someone's pain. Shame on you all!!!! read more

I went in on 2 Jun 2020 for a procedure. The young lady who checked me in was very nice and upbeat, which was something I needed then. The nurses there are amazing! They were all kind and compassionate, and listened to all my questions and concerns, and went above and beyond to help me several times. My wife is very sick with a severe headache. It came on suddenly this evening. We came to the emergency room, and we've been waiting here in the lobby ever since. Over three hours and it's cold. Very few people have come in. No injuries, no ambulances. The staff is nice and tell you nothing. They just say their beds are full and they are waiting for someone to transfer out. No one checks on us or asks how my wife is feeling. She is still verticle, barely, so that is good enough. This is a beautiful new hospital which the city needed. I am very disappointed. Excuses but no service. Very bad. read more

Worst ER visit ever. I should definitely learn my lesson cause it's my second time. The doctor and nurse speak to you very RUDE ! They talk like they don't want to help you. The energy is horrible. The only nice people was the two ladies at the front desk. Also Hippa is violated because the whole world needs to hear why you are here( like the security guard was able hear. ) I came in for something obviously personal.The doctor whose name start with E. Last name G wasn't nice at all! He was beyond rude & careless. The nurse as well. It was more a judgment visit than a ER visit. The staff in the emergency room is always laughing. first the reason for my visit. a few days ago i was bending tubing for a roll cage with a JD2 type manual bender when felt a pop inside on the right hand side of my stomach followed by intense pain, the next day i felt sick, had chills and my skin around my stomach hurt to touch but i went to the garage anyways to continue my work, i added a bar under the bender to pull against, made a few bends and stopped, the next day i noticed a large rash with blisters in the area i push against the bar. the next day my son drove me to the hospital, before arriving we picked up Panda Express and ate it in the hospital parking lot (this is important), after checking in the nurse PA ? grilled me three different times if i did drugs, she said the rash was Shingles (Ive never had before) and was unrelated to any internal injury, in fact she didn't believe I had a internal injury, during the visit i was put in a room along with a lady and her child she tells the lady your in next to the drug addict WTF, so after two hours of getting my vitals taken and her diagnosing me in the office while being checked in i had enough, i explained how it happened again and said why would i lie to you, she replied in a smart ass way I believe you, then leaves to get my paperwork comes back and says you know what maybe we should do some blood work on the outside chance (i'm thinking what that my appendix burst) i was done... she says well then you need to sign this form that you left against doctors advise to cover my, so when leaving she says let me show you the way so you don't get lost turn here turn there when you get to the parking lot make a left and your car is in the corner somewhere. so to sum it up she thought we were in the parking lot doing drugs before coming in (WRONG) the rash not being related to a injury (WRONG) its like having your car at a repair shop the Mechanic is telling you things you know are wrong, stuck on stupid are you going to stay and and possibly let hm take your engine apart hell no, but here i am no better off than before i went just pissed off. read more

All I can say is don't come here if it's an emergency. I grew up in Tehachapi and went there a few times. When I was 5 I broke my arm and they wouldn't take me. They told my parents to go to Bakersfield. When I was 7-8ish my mom fell off of a chair and hurt her foot. After they looked at it they told her she was fine and gave her medicine. That was 14ish years ago and recently mom went to a foot doctor. They pointed out that it looked like her foot had broken a long time ago and the bones healed weirdly. When I was 12 my dad accidentally cut his wrist and they made him sit in the sitting room for like 2 hours!!! I've had other friends tell me stories of their bad times with it. The place is just old and outdated. The people are outdated and I mean this in a medical way. The place needs to be shut down and a new one needs to be built. read more

The staff are clearly overworked & hate their jobs..... but more than they hate their jobs, they hate everyone that comes in that isn't 95 years old and/or dying. I went in recently for a cat bite. I was seen fast so an RN could evaluate the urgency of my conditition. This Emergency Room is run like all of them, under a Triage system, Definition: (in medical use) the assignment of degrees of urgency to wounds or illnesses to decide the order of treatment of a large number of patients or casualties. At the time two other major life threatening cases were being addressed behind the closed doors, my cat bite went on the back burner as well it should, this is how Triage works. Do not expect 20 emergency doctors and 60 nurses running around like they show on TV, this is not the city. And yes, you probably will see one doctor and a couple nurses at this emergency room, this is not LA folks! I did end up after waiting 2.5 hours quietly and politely letting the receptionist know I would be going home but if things started looking bad I would be back. I got a good night's rest after scrubbing and soaking my wound. The next day I made an appointment to see my regular doctor and got in and was given antibiotics and he questioned me on the risk of rabies etc. Please folks, think before you start going into a drama fit at the emergency room. You upset yourself much worse and will not help your own condition improve by thinking your emergency is the center of the universe. read more

Been here a couple times for kidney stone issues. Always seen very quickly, treated with respect, and taken care of. It is a small town hospital, nothing fancy and very small, but if you are in pain or have an emergency they will take care of you. read more

Going to the hospital is never fun tonight was an absolute nightmare. I came to the ER throwing up blood, stomach pain, and blood in my urine. People have written some pretty nasty reviews about the ER so I was a kind of worried about coming in. That all changed when I walked through the door I was triaged right away taken back to a room where I met my great nurse Benjamin. He asked what was going on I explained to him and not once was I interrupted or rushed he listened to everything I said. After I apoke with Ben my Dr came very nice man named Emery. Again he asked what was going on I explained and just like Ben he sat and listened to me. He informed that the reason why I was in such pain and damn near tears was because I had a massive kidney stone. Dr said it's one of the most painful things that can happen to a man. He put in some orders for medication. Ben came to put an IV in and because I am a bigger man my veins are deep. So that's how I met Kimberly another RN they worked together and were able to get my IV in and my medication. Everyone at this hospital has been absolutely amazing they treated me more like family then just a patient. No one being rude no nurses yelling like other reviews were saying. I hope I don't need to come back to a ER anytime soon but I'll tell you right now if I do it's gonna be Adventist Tehachapi. read more

I received a $4,000 bill from over a year ago. I thought it was a mistake, offered to pay the cash price and asked to speak with a manager but the billing department refused. The said there are no managers and that they cannot adjust the bill to a fair amount. I was only in the ER 1 hr for some blood work... and was quickly release with a bad case of Vertigo. I researched the CPT Codes they charged me vs what that hospital should charge. As an example a $2416.98 charge which was for walking in the door should have been $372 according to the health care standards website. Please spread the word that Adventist Health Tehachapi Valley is criminal in it charges and will mock you if you don't pay the $4,000 an hr charges. I am posting reviews on all media to warn everybody, please spread the word and avoid Adventist Health at all cost!!! read more

Do not go to this hospital for a life threatening condition. It will be a death sentence. I have heard this before and my most recent experience only proved it to me. If you are in an ambulance ask to go to Bakersfield or get to Bakersfield instead. Your chances are better. Recently a friend of mine had been ambulanced to the hospital after puking up a lot of black matter which was all over him when he went to the hospital. They barely looked at him and said it was dried blood and that he had bronchitis. They sent him home with meds for bronchitis. The next night he was sent to the hospital again as he was drowning from the fluid in his lungs. As his breathing was so stressed by law the ambulance had to take him to the nearest hospital which was this one despite insistence to go to Bakersfield instead at this point. The hospital sent him to Bakersfield later that night without calling any of his emergency contacts. He still was sent with the bronchitis diagnosis so when he arrived he wasn't on as high of a red flag as he should have been and what they sent was probably lacking in details. It was not until they had to resuscitate him there that it was apparent he belonged in the ICU. The Bakersfield hospital was fantastic I thought in their care of him despite what happened in the end. What he puked was not blood, it was feces. He never stabilized for surgery and passed away. He may have died anyways, but he might have survived if his treatment had begun the day before or even before the need of resuscitation. read more

I have been to the Tehachapi Hospital ER several times over the years. I have always left feeling better than when I came in. There have been a few times that I had to go see a specialists afterwards to figure out a diagnosis, but I have always left TVH feeling better. I have been there for pancreatitis, gallstone (stuck in the common duct..OUCH!), 4 inch gash on my head, and most recently pneumonia. Dr. Beasley has to rank as the best as far as physicians go. He was great! He fixed me right up and was very sweet. Dr. Beasley personality kept me calm and he even had me laughing with blood projecting out of my head. One of my more recent visits I had Ashley take my blood lab work. Ashley was fabulous! She was very nice, and very honest about things (a characteristic I value in health care providers). Ashley is so good at her job, if I wasn't watching her put the needles in my arm, I would not have known it was happening....best phlebotomist I have ever had! This girl can tap into a vein...WOW! Most recently was a few days ago. I was in a lot of pain, and could not figure out what was going on with me. When I walked up to the desk to sign in, immediately there is Tanya. I have known Tanya for several years now. Even when you are feeling your worst, Tanya is a like a ray of sunshine with lots of love. I had RN Valerie for triage. What a great person! She is so kind and you can tell she knows what she is doing. Once I got a bed, my assigned nurse was Tracy...from Mobile Alabama. She is a doll...a real live southern belle tucked away on a little mountain in California. As they would say in the south, "she is as cute as a june-bug". You immediately fall in love with her accent, because its the cutest thing you have ever heard. But if you put all the aesthetics aside, she is a phenomenal nurse. Unfortunately, I have been spending more time in hospitals then I would care to and have had a lot of great health care workers, but Tracy...hands down is the best RN I have ever had! She is on her game. Tracy knew exactly what to do and how to do it, before you can work up the energy to peel your head off the paper pillow and say something. I am convinced she has telepathy. The doctor did come in twice. He talked to me for about 30-45 seconds each time. He was very direct, but would not answer any questions before bolting away. Luckily I had Tracey to answer any questions I had. LOVE HER! Overall the experience was great. As soon as we figured out what was going on, I was treated and headed home to curl up in my own bed. The people that make up the Tehachapi Valley Hospital is really what makes your experience through the ER. I often feel bad for the employees being in that building (built in 1952) and their equipment (prehistoric)...but that is why they are building new hospital. The staff is still able to make everything work so that you leave feeling better. Laurie the CT Tech, Mary (RN), the ED Tech (I am sorry I forgot her name, but I know she is RN school) who took my vitals all day were all so fantastic, Not only do these ladies take great care of you, but they are the type of people you want to grab coffee and hang out with. Was there for extreme stomach pain and throwing up. Was rushed to a bed quickly but the nurses were just not friendly kinda bitchy. When asked what meds I was on I felt interrogated. The Dr came in for about 30 seconds that's it. After my Ct scan results came in he calls out to me from the hallway telling me it's my appendix then walks away. ZERO BEDSIDE MANORS!!! Nobody could explain when I was being transferred to Kaiser yet Kaiser called me to find out if I was coming for my procedure?? Ass backwards hospital. Think I'll rush to Bakersfield e t time instead!! Awful experience dirty and old equipment as well!! Save yourself time and money!!! read more

My daughter got bit by the neighbor's dog (wish I could rate the neighbor!), so we went to ER. Quickly assisted by nice, capable staff. Xrays went well. Quite a long wait afterward, but that is to be expected as people were triaged, of course. They made us comfortable while we waited. Dr and nurses were very nice. Clean facilities. This was my hands down my best experience at a hospital. They took me back right away. I had a great nurses and the staff was excellent. I couldn't be more happier considering the circumstances. The Doctor that saw me had a nice bedside manner and was very pleasant and attentive. Tehachapi's health care has improved dramatically and I'm thankful we have a nice new hospital that has great staff and management. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars and still write a review, I would. I definitely have to disagree with the previous reviewer who gave this hospital 5 stars. I've been here twice and I should have known better than to go back after the first time, but no. The first time I had fallen down a flight of stairs while we were moving out of our apartment. The next morning after my ankle was still swollen and I couldn't walk, I decided to go to the emergency room at Tehachapi Hospital. Big mistake. I waited in the waiting room for about 1 1/2 hours. There were only 2 other people ahead of me. Then when I finally got called back and x-rays were done, I had to wait about 2 hrs for them to tell me I sprained my ankle and when the dr. came in to tell me, he spent less than 3 minutes telling me it was sprained and to stay off it with crutches for 6 weeks. That's the only time I saw the dr during my whole visit. The second time, I was 7 weeks pregnant, I had lost 20 lbs and couldn't keep any food or water down and was severely dehydrated. I go in and wait for about an hour in the waiting room, go back and talk to the nurse and tell her that I am 7 weeks pregnant, I've lost 20 lbs and can't keep anything down. I waited in a bed for an hour and then finally there was sign of life when the insurance lady came in to get info. After that, no sign of life for about another 45 minutes then a lady came in to draw my blood. Waited another 40 minutes for another lady to come in and tell me, I quote, "Well, you're pregnant and by your bloodwork, you're about 7 weeks." WELL NO S**T SHERLOCK I TOLD YOU THAT BEFORE I EVEN CAME IN HERE. Waited another 40 minutes for the same dr who I saw for 3 minutes at my first visit to come in and tell me that he can't do an ultrasound because they only have the ultrasound machine on Mondays-Wednesdays (this was a Thursday) and that he was going to prescribe me Benadryl for my nausea. When I asked about my weight loss and not being able to keep fluids down and getting an IV fluid treatment, he told me that the Benadryl would take care of the nausea and I'd be able to keep stuff down. The Benadryl did nothing. I had to go to my OB in Bakersfield to get an actual nausea and vomiting prescription. TEHACHAPI VALLEY HOSPITAL IS THE WORST!! I WOULD RATHER BE DYING ON THE WAY TO BAKERSFIELD THEN COME HERE AND DEAL WITH THAT STUPID DOCTOR AGAIN! read more

This Hospital is a piece of shit I went there 2days ago when I got there it was 8:30 pm I was in so much pain the nurses seen I was crying and couldn't even move, My sister had to keep telling them that I didn't feel good and my fever kept going up. They finally decided to call me in after 30-40 minutes of waiting and shivering my ass off. The nurse that took me in was really helpful his name was Sebastián he was very patient with me and was trying to make me laugh so I wouldn't think about my pain. He took my temperature and it was 105!!!!! I was so cold and my head felt like it was going to explode I felt noxious and I had the worst pain on the right side of my abdominal I made it loud and clear that I couldn't take the pain anymore I was crying my eyes out to the nurse to please help me and make the pain go away, He mentioned to me that I had to wait in the waiting room util a bed opened...Mmm there was no one there so I didn't understand y the Dr couldn't see me. They send me back to the waiting room 10-15-20-30 minutes pass my sisters gets up once again really angry asking the nurses to please do something because I was in a lot of pain. After 35 minutes they finally call me in they have me lay on a bed for like 10-15 out of nowhere a Piece of shit Dr named Colocousis John comes in and just looks and me and gives me a dirty look and just says so what can I do for you! aren't they already supposed to know what is wrong with you? Not once did he look at my file, I explained to him all of my symptoms all he said was well hope you feel better! Like WTF...I said to him really can I get some medicine for my pain and all he did was walk away. Icalled in my Nurse and begged him to please give me some pain killers or anything to make the pain go away 20 minutes later he comes back just to put a freaking IV ON ME! I once again asked for pain killers and the nurse told me he has to ask the Dr first. After 35 minutes of crying and laying down on the bed the nurse finally comes back with a TYLENOL...Wow it's crazy how I pretty much had to beg for a freaking Tylenol, something I could of bought over the counter. They checked my temperature once again and it was 107 really high right? They didn't do shit about it according to them I was fine One thing that truly mattered to them was how was I going to pay haha. One of the nurses comes in and wakes me up because she needed my insurance like really couldn't that wait until I was discharged!? My fever didn't seem to go down, my head was worst than how I had went in, my right side abdominal pain was getting worst by the minute. My sister comes in a the room with me and she sees me crying, Now she's mad because this ppl aren't doing anything about she asked more than 3 times for help no one seem to care. Dr. Colocousis John decides to come check up on me. He asked me how are you feeling I was honest with him and told him I felt worst than ever, I told him I couldn't move because the pain on my right side abdominal, I asked him what do you think I have y doesn't the pain go away!? To my surprise this was his answer " Well we can do a CT SCAN but I don't see a point in it I don't think there's anything wrong" I was shocked I couldn't believe what he just told me he took me as a fkn Joke. I called in the nurse and asked him if the Dr was like this with everyone? He pretty much just ignored my question. I asked my Nurse Sebastián for my blood work results he said the labs system was down so I had to wait for my results. I asked if the Dr. Was going to prescribe antibiotics or any pain killers. To my surprise Sebastián says mm no Dr.Colocousis John doesn't want to give you any pain killers or anything. That's when I lost it and told them to pls let me go that all that was just a waste of time. He just said it's ok I understand you can leave. Another Male nurse comes in I can tell he felt sorry for me I was looking like shit. He tells me I'm sorry about that and I hope you feel better, All I said to him was this is a joke you come to a hospital to feel better not leave feeling worst and disrespected I walked out with no explanation what so ever about what was wrong with no proper medication nothing by the time I left it was almost Midnight. I went home tried to sleep it off. The next Morning I wake up feeling worst than ever I couldn't stand the pain that my sister had to rush me to the ER!!! In Lancaster CA Antelope valley hospital. I get there they right away check my temperature and rushed me inside my fever was once again 105. They only made me wait 10 for a bed. They put me an IV asked all these questions to see what was wrong they did blood work ect. Proper care right? I was in heaven the nurses were really nice. they noticed I couldn't walk they put me on a wheelchair and took me to get a CT SCAN...30 min go by and they have my results, it turned out that I had a kidney infection But according to Dr Colocousis John I didn't have anything he needs to be fired. read more

i was in a dune buggy accident this past weekend. i had the option of going to lancaster or tehachapi, which was closer to cal city. i am from west LA, so had no idea what to expect. i was in pain, so opted to go to tehachapi er. my husband and i were greeted promptly by the receptionist, the paperwork was minimal, and was taken back to exam room immediately. the nurses were professional and sweet. the x-ray tech was also kind, professional, and prompt. the x-ray results took sometime because the hospital uses an outside service to read x-rays. i had fractured my back, so i was immediately given 2 prescriptions to help with pain and referred to an orthopedic surgeon. the doctor was quirky, which helped ease the stress of the visit. it seems there are many different experiences at tepachapi er, but my experience was a pleasant surprise and my diagnosis was correct. when people come into the er they are not feeling well and have little patients. my experience was a good one, but i was also kind and respectful toward the staff. i have no complaints and would totally recommend tehachpi for basic er medicine. read more

There's never a more dangerous doctor than a doctor who doesn't care. This hospital has demknstrated over and over again to me personally, that most of their physician staff don't care. The nurses at this facility have always been very nice when I've had to come here, but it is the doctors who weild the power and make the decisions. My last (and final) visit to the e.r. here was met with the disgusting treatment by non-nurse staff that has grown to be typical of tehachapi hospital. The office staff made me sit to fill out paperwork though sitting up I almost passed out cold. Then I was led to a bed where a doctor came strolling in, took one look at me and said I had "tension headaches". There was no evaluation, no test, and no respect. Then he went back over to another bed where he was kissing the boot of a lawyer who had brought his wife in with a stomach flu. I need not disclose what my condition actually was, but it was certainly not a tension headache, a REAL doctor later found. All in all, there is a REASON this hospital is known by the locals as the "morgue". I will take the risk of driving to Bakersfield's hospitals over putting up with a series of very disrespectful, dismissive doctors and a bloated, pointless e.r. bill. Again, I love the nurses 95% of the time. The non-nursing staff, including office staff and doctors, need to be fired and replaced. The doctors they contract to operate in that hospital need not have their contracts renewed and the hospital chief of medicine or whoever approves these contracts needs to be much more aware of the track record of these doctors. Are they the rejects of other hospitals who ended their contracts with them? Do they have complaints from other hospitals? The city does not trust you, I don't trust you; not in matters of health, or reliability. read more

The Emergency Dept. at Tehachapi Hospital is hit and miss. Some days the reception staff is empathetic, kind and efficient. Other times, not so much. The nursing staff is much the same. I wish I could say it depends on the time of day/night but that does not seem to be a factor. My theory is that it depends on how busy they have been. The staff here do not seem to take the stress of a busy E.D. very well - I guess we really aren't a small town any more. I will say if you do go during the late night/early morning hours, you are likely to be taken care of by Nurse George. He is the gold standard of RN's; funny, engaging, caring and an all around nice guy. He has been given awards for his abilities - well deserved. I have had three experiences lately with TVHD, none of which I was a patient. The first two, the patients were seen quickly, given treatment and sent on their way. This last time, my friend had been having stomach pain and was now in horrible agony; she said the pain was worse than child birth. The triage nurse came out THREE times to tell us they would be taking her back in "a minute". Thirty minutes went by and another nurse came out and wanted to ask my friend questions about someone taking her vitals. My friend was in no condition to talk, she was in such awful pain, so I started to answer. The nurse holds up her hand and says "Ma'am, I'm trying to speak to the patient." And I reply, "She's really not in any shape to be answering you and I can tell you easier than she can. I have been with her the entire time and can tell you anything you want to know. No, no one has taken her vitals. Why would they do that out here in the waiting room? And do you know that she's been waiting over 30 minutes." She gave me some excuse about being busy, (that's not our problem and I really do not want to hear it.) I asked then why have two people that came in after us, with apparently much milder symptoms have been taken back before my friend has? The answer, another half excuse about the triage nurse being tied up with a patient. I find it hard to understand how they have only one "Triage Nurse" in this place that is in a town & outlying areas with a population of over 10,000!!! It took them 5 1/5 hours to tell us my friend was passing kidney stones. read more

The people at the Tehachapi ER are the best! This is the third time I needed to go to the ER here in Tehachapi. This time was a little different. My condition was not life threatening and I expected to have a long wait on my hands if the ER was busy. With several people ahead of me it did take sometime before I saw the doctor on staff. After all, this is not a big city ER. It is a very small, lightly staffed emergency facility that takes the most critical people first under a triage system. A system that I feel works very well. I received excellent care while I was here from every staff member. I would like to acknowledge the following people for going out of their way to help me during my time of need. Nurse Ashley , a wonderful and caring human being. A beautiful girl with a matching personality. I wish there were more Ashley's in this world. Nurse George, who is not only extremely helpful and competent, but has a great sense of humor and makes you smile even when you are down. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL. Seriously, there is absolutely no situation which would warrant walking through the doors of this hell hole. You will not receive medical attention, there are signs on the walls saying they are not able to help with certain issues (i.e. Delivery of a baby), I saw them turn away a young man with broken bones because they couldn't treat for that at this facility (?!?) They sent every patient for X-rays. We declined because an X-ray was not indicated for the issue we were there for yet were sent multiple times. A little girl with the flu was sent for X-rays! I think it's just because they have the machine and can charge for it. We sat for over 4 hours and NEVER saw a doctor. You could drive to Bakersfield and get appropriate medical attention or even to Los Angeles in an hour and a half and get world class medical care....but more importantly you'd actually be treated...and be home in a more reasonable amount of time than if you were to visit Adventist Tehachapi Hospital. There is no adequate healthcare in Tehachapi. It's barbaric and uncivilized. Truly. The next day after receiving no medical attention, we went to several general practitioners in town and were turned away by each one. We have superior insurance...not Obamacare insurance, but regular Blue Cross/Blue Shield from a state that is still sane. We ended up having to drive out of the area in order to find medical attention. This area has the population to justify a hospital, and the citizens of this area deserve better. This place should not be permitted to identify as a hospital, because it provides none of the services a normal person would expect to receive at a facility labeled as a hospital, or even a doctor's office. read more

Very overcrowded almost always. Waited over 6 hours last two times I had to go there. They are still waiting on being able to move in to the new hospital surrounded by now dying or dead trees, it's been that long. Better hope your injury is not life-threatening if you're in need of their assistance as metaphorically attested v a new hospital being surrounded by now dying and dead trees. read more

My family members and I have been to this er a couple times and we've always been treated with respect. Some people don't get how an er works and expect to be seen right away for simple things but we get it. Majority of the doctors are good and then you get a few oddball ones. Of course we see some nurses who are stone faced but hey, it's not exactly a pleasant job. We love seeing and listening to southern boy George though he just cracks us up. On a couple occasions we've had a tiny smiley nurse named Ashley. She has to have roller skates in her shoes with how fast she moves around. Ashley is kind,respectful, knowledgeable and good at explaining things. She always makes us laugh with her witty chat too. My daughter always gets a smile on her face knowing that when we go there she may get to see nurse ashley and get a hug. I usually don't write reviews. I just use yelp to read reviews but I think that this nurse needs a pat on the back for how hard she works. read more

3 stars but it should be 5 based on my prior visit..almosy down to 2 and here is why. The wait is awesome hardly 10 minutes what e.r. in the world has that..granted it was a Monday night and i had just been hit at a red light at about 40 mph...so far so good..the whole visit was great tbh, the thoroughness, the attention, but at the end after being there 3 hours i got no prescription for pain but a neck brace. I WAS HIT AT 40 MPH!! I was shocked at first but way too tired to argue...i went home took another 6 aspirins..and then got p#ssed....three days later I am in AGONY...back and horrible neck pain ..i called 6 times inquiring why i never got a prescription for pain STILL no call back....hmmmm no bueno...i am going to talk to a lawyer this seems wrong read more

Went here recently to be seen for my cold/flu symptoms. The receptionist lady didn't have the most welcoming presence. Very blunt with her words and looks annoyed. I was in the waiting area for about 1 hour 30mins. Then an RN by the name of Ashley came to take my vitals. She was nice and overall professional. I then had to return to the waiting area to see the doctor since they didn't have any beds available. After about 30 to 45 mins I was then taken back to a room and in 15 mins I saw the doctor. The doctors name was Stewart. She had good bedside manners and got me a prescription and doctors note for a couple days off from work. As I returned to the waiting area I was flagged down crazily by one the nurses/receptionist. She said "excuse me! Excuse me! Have you signed out?! We need your insurance information!!" Maybe they are used to people not having insurance and splitting the scene lol cause she was on my heels. I would of told her to chill the f*** out but I was too sick for an argument. She was not personable or professional as she took my insurance information. Seems the people behind the desks in the reception area must be underpaid and ready to treat you like it. read more

I went to the ER last night and ended up having a bad case of bronchitis. The nurses, Physician's Assistant. and staff were so nice and caring and they took me in right away. The doctor was nice but if I blinked I would have missed him. I got the care and meds I needed and was released within an hour. I'm glad they were in town because it would have been difficult to drive down the mountain in my condition. read more

The doctors and nurses at the Tehachapi Hospital saved my wife's life. I cannot say more about their dedication and sincere care for patients. They were our only hope when none of the hospitals, Bakersfield or UCLA offered any true help. They were able to keep my wife alive long enough for us to find the specialist she needed to end our nightmare. My family thanks them for what they did for us. read more

While I give ALL of the nursing and reception staff the highest of compliments and recommendations, I CANNOT apply the same standards of approval to the dr I saw on my first visit 1-2 years ago (who prescribed medications that were clearly contra-indicated with my daily medications and made me extremely ill until I researched said medications and discontinued their use) and my visits of June 22 and 23 of this year. This time, once again the nursing and reception staff were exemplary and professional, but the on-call dr was rude, disinterested, and completely unprofessional on both visits. He advised me to see an ENT within 48 hours, Monday at the latest. With my insurance this is nearly impossible, but some wonderful people at BFMC worked to get me the appointment on Monday. The ER dr performed a very painful procedure and left the room. He DID give me an IV, which corrected my dehydration. A different dr then came in, looked at my issue, told me to come back the following morning and proceeded to give me written instructions to that effect. I went back the following morning as instructed, and after a considerable but understandable wait, I was seen by the SAME dr from the previous day, who rudely asked me: "what are you doing here? I told you not to come back here!" He then told me not to come back with the same problem again. Whatever happened to the Hypocratic Oath and Do No Harm? As a senior citizen I had no expectations of being treated in this manner by a professional. I'll probably take the chance of bleeding to death before patronizing this facility again. read more
