I contacted Advantage Pools in early July to have them look at a problem with the control board on my salt pool. They had availability in the next week, and we agreed they would come on July 8th. I would be charged $80 for the service call, which I agreed to pay. The service tech showed up on time, diagnosed the problem as a faulty control board. Soon after a tech named Brian texted with me and asked for some more details on the model number as well as some pictures so he could get me a quote. I sent them on July 12th. I was happy knowing I had what seemed to be a responsive pool company that would help me with my issues, however..... That was the last time I had communication with them. I reached out several times via text and by calling the office. Zero response via text and the office always promised a manager would call. But they never once did. I finally called today (July 23rd) and asked for a refund on my service call. But it turns out they had never charged me. I do not attribute this to their kindheartedness, but rather to their disfunction as a business. I am not sure why they decided to waste my time and ignore me, perhaps my job just wasn't worth their time. But in the end, I have come to this conclusion: it is my opinion that if you need pool service in the greater Memphis area, look elsewhere. I am already working with another company that treats me with just a little bit like a valuable customer. read more

Just had the pool service button up the pool until next spring. We needed a pool pump cover as the old one was cranky at best. Very satisfied....great company with exceptional customer service. To lower water level I keep forgetting: Service mode, turn waste valve open and hit filter pump. Do not walk away, cook dinner or leave the house or it will rapidly drain the pool, burn up the pump and cost a fortune! read more

Absolutely unethical, rude, very unprofessional company. Oh we stared off really liking them but we are victims of a very slow deception scam. It goes back to 2022 our pool liner was severely damaged by Feb storms our insurance company wanted at least 3 quotes Advantage Pool was one of the 3. Our insurance company said the quote must have liner damaged by storm and liner needs to be replaced or they would not cover the costs we asked Brian to put that on the quote but he refused so we had no choice but to go with one of the other pool companies. Finally got everything handled by the insurance company got the liner installed Memorial weekend 2023. We had all kinds of problems and had to request service calls from a couple of different pool companies. We hired Advantage Pool to put dropout in the pool and that required a second day to vacuum. I noticed several changes on our debit card over the remainder of the summer but we had not requested any other service until late July or August for a quote on leak detection they said they absolutely do that and would be happy to send out a tech. Ok so the tech came out stood by the pool then said they could not help us. I thought that was odd but we decided not to put any additional money into the pool and would wait until this summer. Well the insurance claim was also for a safety cover turns out the company that provided the safety cover for us didn't measure it correctly so it doesn't fit so we could not cover the pool I called Advantage Pool today and asked if they drained and cleaned out pools the lady said yes so she asked a few more questions but also kept putting me on hold started setting up the date when all of a sudden Brian got on the phone and said we can no longer will do any services for you when I asked why he got extremely rude and said because we wasted their time doing measuring for the new liner and safety cover and we went with another company when I tried to remind him it was out of our hands due to the insurance company and if he had only written on the quote about the storm damage they would have had the job but no instead of being understanding he got really really insulting. I asked him for invoices for all the unauthorized charges on our debit card but he is not able to provide any of them. He actually admitted as he laughed on the phone today he intentionally sent a tech out for leak detection last year and instructed the tech to stand by the pool and then tell us they couldn't help us and then change our debit card on file for yet again another undisclosed fee. He then sends a harassing email to my sister accused her of lying he implied it was really her on the phone today even though the person he talked with claimed they were not her. He belittled us by adding humor in his email with statements like never fear there are many other pool companies who can clean your pool. He then goes on and has a list of random dates he said we requested service calls for all the way into Nov and I had emergency spine surgery in Nov so by Oct we were completely focused on me and never called any pool companies and again he couldn't provide any invoices for these so called requested service call. They are all false dates. Then he writes we were a complete waste of both his and Advantage Pool's time because ( here we go again ) because of wasted time measuring the pool for the liner and safety cover and implied we were not worthy of their professional services and time. Oh he sent this emails several hours after he rudely hung up on me today. Really?? Who does this to customers? I did not deserve the why I was treated today. He/they have the right to refuse any service call but he does not have the right to treat me so horribly and scam us ( really stole ) around $1,000 from us. I honestly do not know how they stay in business and how Brain lives with himself with how badly he treated us and scammed us out of so much money because he feels we owe him ( and feels we still owe him ) for wasted time. My time was also wasted plus I lost pay having to take time off work for a company who intentionally had no intention of ever performing leak detection. You will be ok with them until heaven forbid you use another pool company then watch out Brain will slowly scam you to get your money because you dared to waste his precious time. read more

I am so disappointed with these guys. For last one year they did good service and lately I am calling them and leaving messages with Cindy and they just don't show up. I have no idea why. I am so upset with my pool since it looks green and full of debris. Every time I call they tell me that someone will come out there and take care of it today. Guess what two weeks and they have just stopped coming for no reason and don't even tell me why. Wish they would just tell me that we have lost people and we can not do service anymore. read more

Wish the customer was a little more consistent. More times than not, I call and get the answering machine. And no one ever returns my calls when I leave a message on the voice recording. However, if I do by chance get speak with someone when they answer, they are very pleasant and quick to respond to my needs. I have had no issues now that I'm on a bi-weekly schedule to clean my pool. They show up when they are supposed to and my pool looks good. read more

They did an EXCELLENT job on our pool. Our vinyl pool liner was worn and ripped, so we hired them to replace the liner. Their price was highly competitive and they were very responsive. When the replacement liner arrived, they removed the old liner and we discovered that a groundwater problem had effectively destroyed the concrete bottom. It needed to be completely repoured, so we contracted them to do that. The work turned out to be very difficult. The groundwater made it almost impossible to pour new concrete. After an initial attempt failed, they actually buried a pump in the ground to remove water from the area - knowing that the pump would be lost at the end of the job. The work looked much better after the second attempt, but Advantage was still not satisfied. They came out a third time to make some minor fixes and that result came out extremely well. Finally, they finished installing the liner and opened the pool for us. If there were 6 stars for a rating, I would give it to them. Despite a job that they probably lost money on, they kept at it until the work was right. Customer service above and beyond the call of duty! It was everything you could hope for in a difficult situation. read more

Do not use these people. Seriously, Dancing with the Stars has more legitimate stars than this company. Our summer started off with the opening of our pool. We come home and smelled this horrific odor in our yard. Turns out there is oil spilled all over our concrete and grass. Where the oil came from is still a mystery. However, the "technician" left an invoice saying he spilled oil on our concrete and he was "sorry." That's great and all but our grass is dead, like Phillip Seymour Hoffman dead where it's not coming back. My wife made several phone calls to the owners regarding this. She never received a phone call. Weeks later we come home and find two boys in our backyard with sod. We ask them if we can help them. They replied "well, we're the ones helping you." I get involved and they said the owner, Fred, contacted us (he did not) and said he was replacing our grass. Of course the grass isn't the right kind that matches our grass in the backyard but it does have a nice David Cassidy 70's bell-bottom patchwork to it now. So, the same technician who spilled the oil comes back out to service the pool Wednesday and he says the motor isn't working. He decides on his own accord to go into our breaker box and flip our power on and off to the house. We don't discover what he did until we came home and found power out upstairs. Hey, it's just electricity, not like it starts fires or anything. A gentleman was sent out Saturday to fix the problem. Super nice guy. Turns out it was the capacitor. I mention our "experiences" to him and he says he's not surprised. The next week the same technician comes out again to service the pool on Wednesday. This time the genius says we're "loosing power." He leaves the pool in non-working condition, leaves the bill on the door, and charges us for chemicals we already own. Well, why wouldn't we trust him? So the super nice maintenance guy is sent out again and discovers the capacitor he replaced is going bad. He installs a new one. This week nobody shows up to service our pool after my wife requested a new technician. She called today only to find the owner has taken us off the rotation list. Instead of replacing or finding us a new technician, the owner let us go. Really? Well, let me say here the customer service is about as piss poor as it comes. Not only is the owner a coward, his techs suck almost as bad as his business practices. Again, achtung! Don't use this place. It's horrible. I'd rather fill my pool in than depend on Advantage Pool for anything. read more

Had a liner installed that was under warranty. We called multiple times for a date then got a date the day before it was scheduled. Turns out Advantage uses a subcontractor to do liner installs. Liner had a wrinkle in called Advantage and was told to deal with the contractor. No customer service what so ever. I have done business with advantage for two years, however I switched providers this weekend. They have been great at answering all my questions and even were understanding when I couldn't provide credit card info because it was stolen. I called back in a few weeks and updated it. I'm not sure what happened these last few weeks were I asked them to check out the Polaris because it wasn't working properly. The first time they fixed it, but it stopped running again. I asked them again, and it's still not working. I was also charged about 100 for a part I was not aware I was going to pay for. Anyways, I just got tired of asking them to look at the Polaris and fix it. It's only two years old and should not be having any issues. Last year it was working fine. So, I expected a more thorough service but it didnt happen. Also, they raised their prices this year- which is understandable, because everything is going up. I switched because when I ask for something to be looked at or fixed I don't want to wait over four weeks for it to happen. read more

I have used Advantage Pool for the past 6 years to service my pool. They have been very responsive, reliable, proactive and trustworthy. During this time, we had Advantage Pool open and close, perform bi-weekly service, maintenance and replace equipment as needed, redo our deck and deep clean the surface of the pool. Everything was very professional done. We have been extremely satisfied and would highly recommend them. Unfortunately we are moving from Memphis and hope to find another company as good as Advantage. read more

This company does not deserve even one star, but I had to leave one to post a review. They are incompetent, they have poor communication with each other, and they will not stand behind their work. We have had our pool for 15 years, never a problem. The liner had faded out to almost white so we decided to replace the liner in 2013. We went with Advantage because they bid the job at a lower price (red flag). Adam put our liner in and it was perfect! (I was told he no longer works there by the way) BUT, by the end of the summer the liner had huge spots where the color faded. I called and sent pictures, but they had no clue. So, I called the manufactory of the liner who told me that liner had been recalled. Advantage had to replace the liner......so I called to tell them. They came out in 2014 and did the replacement.....this is were the nightmare began! I'm not sure who dropped in the liner, but it was wrong right from the beginning. I let them know the day they put the liner in that it was not correct. They came back out to do some "adjustments", but the bottom, the sides and one corner of the pool had wrinkles and was still a bit off set. I got excuses to how it would all work itself out. We called every year to let them know it still had issues. In 2016 they came out to replace a light and smooth out the wrinkles on the bottom.....but it still pulled in the corner. Never the less when we opened the pool this year, the liner was torn. I believe from the stress of the bad installation! My husband talked to Brian and sent pictures and was told someone would be out to take a look. He stayed home from work the day of, but no one showed. I called and was greeted by what sounded like a teenage girl, but was told no one could talk to me and she was not sure when or if anyone could call me back.....everyone was busy. Finally I called and ask to talk to Cindy Shepard (owner). I explained what was going on, I sent her pictures to her cell phone and told her we had a no show. She was very polite. She was going to have Fred (who is Cindy's husband) call me back.......two days no return call. I call back and talk to Cindy who can't remember what I was calling for or recall the pictures I sent her! So, I go through the whole story again. She says she is sending someone out that day, but It may be 7 o'clock before they get there.......I'm home all day waiting......no show AGAIN. I call....teenage girl.....no return call, I call a few days later....teenage girl......no one can talk to me. Cindy finally calls back, says Fred will call me. No call from Fred again! After about 3 weeks of back and forth, we come full circle and I talk to Brian. At this point no one has been out to look at the pool, but Brian tells me the liner tore because of "floating" issues due to rain, or I must have a leak in my pool, or maybe 100 other reasons. We've had a pool for 15 years! He must think I'm an idiot. We have a serious conversation where we disagree and he ends up telling me he will talk to Fred (LOL back to Fred!). He calls back and the company is not willing to stand behind their mistakes or their work. We disagree again, he tells me he will talk to Fred ( please not Fred....again). Because you really can't prove one way or the other what happened, the pool company can choose to screw you. This time Brian does not call me back, he calls my husband, (LOL). Brian tells my husband he can give us $500 towards the liner....probably not knowing I've already called the manufactory and they said they will work with us on the cost of the liner because it's so new. As if at the point I am going to let Advantage touch my pool. BEWARE....they bid low, take your money and leave you hanging. read more

I was completely completely dissatisfied with your services and communication skills during our "open" a few weeks ago. I have already expressed this issue with Todd. However, I was exhausted from calling Advantage and decided to just move on. After receiving this an email from my renters, I am moved to a new level of disgust with your company. A good company with quality customer service would eat the cost of an unsatisfied customer regardless. But this is more than that. Every step of the process was a headache for me as the homeowner and a job was NEVER completed. I had to call after someone came out every time because the job was not completed as expected. No one ever had concrete answers for me. Now we are being told by another company that chemicals were not even put in the pool which I believe as no one at Advantage ever had a clear answer for me about the comings and going of their pool crew. I was basically going on Advantage Pool's word that chemicals were added. Prices were misquoted, messes were left, and finishing touches were not completed. I am embarrassed that I welcomed someone else into my home with my pool in such poor condition because of Advantage Pool. read more
