They did a great job. Arrived on time. Brought all their safety equipment. Got the job done right and didn't cost too much. Friendly people.

I will share our business experience without naming the company involved…read more We experienced a pipe failure supplying water to a greenhouse located on residential property. At the time of the incident, the property owner was out of town and had to coordinate an emergency repair remotely by phone. What the owner understood to be a limited, two-part emergency repair--specifically, fixing one broken pipe and installing a single shut-off valve--was instead presented by the technician as a single, comprehensive project. The estimate, which exceeded $17,000, was approved without the owner realizing the full scope of the work being authorized. The work ultimately performed went far beyond the emergency need. It included a full replacement of piping in one unit on the property and the installation of two new shut-off valves, rather than the single repair that was required at the time. When an itemized invoice was later requested, the documentation listed only materials, with no labor charges shown. We subsequently learned that subcontractors were used to complete the work. Based on this, it appears that both the subcontractor and our business may have been adversely affected by the way the project was structured and billed.

Kayce was the only one who communicated the way it should have been done from the beginning which is only reason the stars went up. Be warned about slippery warranty coverage. My mother is older and was having issues with her HVAC…read more We bought a new and quite expensive HVAC from Barker's some two years ago. She also pays annually for the maintenance plan that supposedly comes with addition coverage benefits. My mom is on a very limited income and is still paying off the HVAC in monthly payments. One of the reasons we decided to go with a new HVAC rather than a repair was because we would be covered by the warranty and not have to spend any additional money for at least a number of years. Well, it turns out that's not the case. When they came out to check the HVAC yesterday, they determined that the compressor wasn't working correctly. It's working at too high a pressure and is putting a strain on our system. He recommended that we buy an adapter kit for $319 that would help the compressor work better and without it the compressor could go out, trigger breakers, and out a continued strain on the HVAC system. We asked about the warranty and basically they're blaming the manufacturer saying that "they" won't cover the replacement of the compressor unless it completely stops working all together, despite the fact that it is not working within the warranties coverage period. Barker's claims that they only cover the labor warranty and that there is nothing they can do. When I then asked if they were charging labor to install the adapter to fix the problem, they of course conceded that they are. This feels like a workaround for the warranty that we thought we purchased and away for Barker's to make additional money even though the HVAC they installed isn't working correctly. Basically, our HVAC is not working correctly but we need to spend more money to compensate for the gaps in warranty. A quick skim through the reviews shows a number of other reviews with warranty frustrations.
