We LOVE our school. Let me draw a picture. We drive up for drop off and 3-5 staff members are standing in the front of the school, poised for welcoming students. They open our car door to let my boys out and greet them by name, wish them a good day, and then wish me a good day before I drive away. On the day my youngest son returned to school after a long absence, they cheered that he was back. (I wept all the way home:)
Once inside, the boys go to class. They have (mostly) one class per grade. My son's 4th grade teacher is so dedicated she has offered to tutor him at home to help him catch up in areas he has trouble in. Also, parents are welcomed and encouraged to attend classes anytime. How about that!!
This school participates in Rachel's Challenge, encouraging kindness among students and staff. The office staff are the first and last faces you see at school, and kindness is what you are greeted with and sent home remembering. What an amazing difference they make.
This is our first year at Advantage Academy. Perhaps our negative experiences at former schools enhances the sense of community found at AARowlett. But I count my blessings every day, knowing how it could be so different, had we stayed at another school. Thanks to ALL of you, from the Principal, to the Lunch Lady, for paying attention and showing interest. My kids have no doubt they are treasured. read more
