As soon as the examiner opened the door, I noticed her lack of courtesies. She didn't introduce herself, turned her back to me and began to walk down the hall to which I assumed she wanted me to follow. She did not explain anything clearly, the entire time her focus was on her computer. I could tell by this point, that she had already made up her mind about me before even meeting me. I was just another checkmark on her schedule. Her attitude was dismissive and discouraging, she was simply condescending which includes her judgemental facial expressions. Whenever I would ask questions, she would cut me off or I would sense a raise in her tone of voice. She offered no guidance on the type or depth of answers she expected. But by her attitude, it seemed she wanted short and quick answers. I asked twice about the paperwork I had brought and if she wanted to take a look at it. She said she already had those files without looking at them. I had driven to this location for a decent amount of time, the least she could had done was skim through my paperwork for 15 or 30 seconds to give me peace of mind. This was a really important appointment for me and I took it seriously. She couldn't even give me the time of day. I did not like how the entire process played out but I continued to be respectful. She seemed like she hated her job and the whole thing only lasted about 35 min. My research prior to the exam had me believe that the session was going to last about an hour or more. I felt rushed and she did not give me an accurate evaluation. After years of severe mental health issues and hundreds of pages where I complain about my time in service and after I got out, she completely disregarded everything. She lied on her report and said I did not show signs of anxiety. She focused on one comment, on one file, and she manipulated the wordage in order to discredit me. I reread that file that she referenced after the exam. Mayfield appeared to fixate on a single, inaccurate comment in my record implying childhood depression, which I clarified was untrue. That same record actually states I had a positive childhood. She overlooked extensive documentation of symptoms related to my time in service and instead used that one line to discredit my claim. All my problems began during my military experience, which I believe I was very clear to her about. Either this examiner is not good at her job or she deliberately lied and manipulated wordage in order to get me denied from receiving the proper mental health treatment I clearly need. I would not recommend this examiner to any veteran who is struggling with depression or similar symptoms. If I had walked in on my worst day, all hope to receive help would've been lost for me. After a wait of over a year where I spent a ton of effort, time, and money to finally be able to be evaluated, this lady deliberately screwed me over. I have never encountered someone this evil in my life. No veteran deserves this type of treatment; this lady should not be allowed to evaluate other C&P exams. How many other veterans have been denied because of her? How many more will there be in the future? I came into that office expecting a step forward, instead I came out of there with more worry and stress.

More importantly, the staff members were courteous, friendly, and compassionate, but they were also professional, knowledgeable, efficient, and proficient. They treated me like a real fellow human being and not like I was just another client to get processed and on his way. I wish every veteran undergoing VA claim diagnostics could have an experience as good as they provide at the Weslaco facility. Thank you.
