Premiere/White Glove/First Class Dental Care
My experience has been Amazing with a Capital A. I've been combating dental phobia for years and needed quality care after years of neglect. I required a light touch and things like IV sedation to get me through it. There are so many things to shower praise over, so let's get to it!
1. Betsy at the front desk might just be the nicest, kindest person alive. She will remember your name and face make sure you feel like a person and not just the next appointment. She is friendly and speaks with a comforting tone that will bring even the most fearful into a state of relative calm. She is professional at her trade, and she should not be overlooked for her immense value to the experience as she is the first person you're likely to meet. Her quality interaction is only the beginning for what you're about to walk into as she is truly representative of what awaits. Oh, and if you need to be lured into coming to check this place out and nothing else does it in my review, did I mention that they offer free coffee, hot chocolate, water, and free fresh-baked cookies all day? Yes, fresh cookies... all day.
2. The Treatment Coordinator who deals with appointments, insurance, Care-Credit and other financing options, and the general planning of your procedures is equally kind and understanding. She explained what costs are associated with the procedures plainly and honestly, providing a breakdown of all items line by line. For IV sedation, they are required to get all signatures and payments ahead of time due to mental impairment at the time of the appointment; however, when work wasn't done at that time, she was able to simply refund to my Care Credit account the cost of the procedures that were not done yet. That said, she also had my best interests in mind to work out a plan that would allow me to still come in for followup work that should not be neglected in a way that is financially possible for me.
3. The Dental Assistants were all amazing. There was not one specifically assigned to my dentist, it seemed, and so each time I came in there was someone new (at least that I recall). One might think that would create some inconsistency of service quality, but it did not. This is an entire staff that is built on providing a PREMIERE service. You are, for that moment, their whole world. They are sociable, friendly, and they did everything they could to make me feel at ease and took interest in who I am as a person. That was, in fact, part of the information passed along to the Dentist when he came in--what my dental situation was and things like where I came from and what my experience has been in San Antonio so far. Again, this is a method of demonstrating that I am not just a chart to be looked over, and it really did wonders that extra level of attention.
4. The Dentist! My Dentist is Dr. Thomas, and he is wonderful. He does sedation dentistry for the office, and it's obvious he has great training and a high consideration for people like me with severe dental phobias that got us into an uncomfortable dental situation in the first place. He did minimal invasive work in the initial exam (even I could tolerate it without a panic attack!), though I was able to get some information from a previous dental office to take with me to avoid having to do things like retake X-rays or measure gum damage. He was honest and straight-forward with what might be necessary, what would happen, and how it would possibly impact me. I shared my concerns, and he heard them all--even the objectively silly ones. He also shared personable information about him the same way that the Dental Assistants had done, just letting me get to know him as a person and not just a Dentist. In that I was under sedation for the procedure itself, I can't say much other than it went how I hoped it would go--that I don't remember much at all! Many dental offices will have an assistant reach out to you after the procedure the next day to ask how you are, but not Advanced Smile Care, no. The Dentist himself, Dr. Thomas, took time out of his busy day just to make a phone call and make sure I was okay. Upon a followup with him about five days afterward, I told him how I was following very carefully the prescribed regimen and making sure that I take care of my dental health by changing my daily habits. He and his assistant Brittany seemed genuinely joyful of this, and I recall a statement like, "this is the reason I got into dental care." It was such a touching thing to say!
The entire experience from beginning has been absolutely fantastic, the best I've ever had or even heard of. At no point in my time there did I ever have anything less than a wonderful interaction with anyone--even when news of my dental state was not so great itself. If you're in search of a dental office that will treat you like family and help you ensure you get the care that you need, Advanced Smile Care is the place for you. read more
