I came in for a Brazilian wax. I haven't gotten one in a couple months, but wanted to give Maisha a try, since her Instagram seemed very professional and promising. I've previously been to a couple different waxers and I can say that Maisha definitely uses the best quality hard wax. She is very knowledgeable and understanding and gave me recommendations for my ingrowns. She recommended a roll on product to help ingrowns and after using it just once after the wax, I immediately felt drastically less irritation/redness and none of those small bumps I've usually gotten after waxes in the past. Even though waxes can be pretty painful, Maisha is easy to start a conversation with and she finishes the wax pretty quickly. Of course there is going to be irritation after a wax, but the roll on I bought has seriously helped SO much. There were some short hairs that couldn't be waxed, but she got the rest of the hairs and even tweezed some of the shorter ones. In my previous waxes, they would a lot of times miss some hairs, leaving me to tweeze them on my own at home (not Maisha!) I will definitely be coming back to her for my brazilians! When I first met Maisha Ann, I thought she was so knowledgeable and so good at what she does. She's quick with her work, which I like, and did my Brazilians painlessly. So I decided she's going to be my new waxer, therefore purchased her 6 wax bundle. Soon after, booking with her was impossible. She kept canceling and was out of town despite me being able to book online. Later emailed saying she was moving across the Bay Area, to which I told her if I wanted to drive over the bridge, I'd just go to my previous esthetician. I then asked for a refund via email because I only got 2 out of 6 waxes with her, and her moving suddenly is inconvenient to me. Had I known she had plans to move across the bridge, I wouldn't have purchased a bundle. Few days later, I get a text with her trying to sell me her products/work, to which I replied asking if she received my email. She then went off via email about her personal life, and I thought "how is she to text me first after not getting a reply for my email, upsell her services, and when I said no inquiring about a refund, she goes off about her personal life and how I can be so inconsiderate?" She then said don't text me on my personal phone. But I'm here thinking "she's crazy. she was the one to text me first." So her "assistant" replies to me a few days later via email trying to offer me other services instead of refunding me. When I said no, she also replies back with "Ann's going through this and this. How can you be so inconsiderate. Have some decency..." So I reply, "Her personal life should be separate from her clientele/work life. And you are both the ones to contact me first offering me more services. I'm sorry she has stuff going on but I'll wait for her to contact me when she's ready..." never heard from them again. Never got a refund. Only got 2 out of 6 pre-paid waxes. Total rip-off. But I still get emails about her skin products which reminded me I wanted to give her a rating. Just putting a story out there. I previously went to EWC and didn't care for the rushed painful waxing experience there.. BUT then I found Maisha at ASL! I called on a Saturday in need of a wax, she was busy but went out of her way to accommodate me and was SO nice, non judgmental, super informative and knowledgeable about hair growth, after care, ingrowns and hormonal lumps and bumps. Not only did she thoroughly answer/explain everything regarding my questions and concerns she has products (that she DOES NOT push on you to buy). As for the other details about my experiences (I just went back for my second wax) I appreciate the padding on the waxing bed, it's extremely comfortable to lay on with my problematic back and feels more clean and of better quality than the typical thin paper other waxers use as a barrier. The studio is aesthetically pleasing and privacy shades were drawn prior to service. She wears gloves and a mask, and I felt little to no discomfort while being wax with her expert technique. So that being said, I purchased the wax package that she customized to the areas I'd like to get waxed. As well as some products! I also scheduled a lash appointment with her.
