Five Stars Ain't Enough! There's a lot to say about an establishment that is running 60 minutes behind upon timely arrival and STILL manages to knock my socks off w some of the best treatment ever received! The waiting room, work counter and back area was clear of clutter and nicely decorated. The lobby had a nice temperature and was customer friendly w the decor and TV entertainment. I took my youngest there per recommendation from pediatric neurologist and they treated my little prince like royalty. We were immediately greeted by Zakiea as soon as we entered. She was very professional, friendly and made this nervous process comfortable. Our wait ended up being shorter than an hour. We were taken back and greeted by Laurie (Radiology Technician). She did a fantastic job explaining the upcoming procedures to my son and I. It was honestly overwhelming for me but she made this experience much smoother for all. The contrast and non contrast MRI took at least a 1/2 hour and I could hear Laurie coaching my son through it all. She was so professional, child friendly, knowledgeable about her craft and very apologetic about the wait. Before I knew it, the procedure was completed and my son left out without worry. With the exceptional customer service received by Zakiea and Laurie, I would have waited 3 hours for the fantastic thorough and skilled services provided! I definitely recommend this location to everyone in need of any radiology service!

The staff is so rude and they act like they don't want to work there. Absolutely no help at all. Please avoid this location if you can.

The in-processing was simple and straightforward. The waiting area was very clean and spacious for distancing. After a few minutes in the waiting room, Sae escorted me to the changing room. I put on what he asked and locked my belongings in my assigned locker. Let's pause to talk about Sae. May God bless him. Sae escorts me to the imaging area. I saw that tomb of a machine and my anxiety tapped me on the shoulder. I gave Sae every reason why this was impossible. The first was that I didn't believe I would fit. I asked where the plus size section was. Sae just smiled and reassured me that I would fit and that I would be okay. He told me to take it in slow steps. He had me lay on the table to get acclimated. He handed me a cord with a button for emergencies. He said at anytime I feel that I am panicking to hit the button and I would be pulled out the machine. He then gave me a pair of headphones. He asked what music would give me peace, I asked for Chandler Moore. He then moved me in the machine slowly and then stopped at certain points to check in. He didn't continue pushing me forward until I gave the word. Once I was all the way in, I told him I didn't know about this. Sae told me to look up and back. There I could see the wall of the room. That was so helpful; it was awesome knowing that although I was really far in I was also very close out if needed. Sae had them start the music and I laid there in peace for 20 minutes. I am so grateful for the peace of God and the patience of Sae. He definitely deserves a raise. I was in and out within 35 minutes which was so nice. God forbid that I need another MRI, but should I do, I'm coming right back here. Side Note: The machine is a mega magnet. If you have hair pins, it would behoove you to take them out before entering. Trust. Me. On. This.

My recovery had been going along relatively uneventfully until this morning when I experienced extreme pain, probably as severe as it was on the first postoperative day, despite pain medication and antispasmodics. I put in a call to the neurosurgeon's manager who told me he would call me back as soon as he was able, in between surgeries. In the meantime, in extreme pain and using a walker and then a cane to enter the building, I  managed to get to Advanced Radiology to have the X-rays done to rule out the possibility of a fractured spinous process (a 30% likelihood with the procedure I had), or displacement of the insert. At the facility I undressed with great difficulty due to my pain and difficulty in bending. I waited for the technician tp return. I was exhausted and profusely sweating from the pain. When she did not come after I was appropriately robed, I closed my clothes locker and walked a few feet down the hallway to the x-ray room she had entered.  She immediately confronted me in an unfriendly manner, apparently displeased I did not wait for her to come get me, even though she never instructed me to do so. She begrudgingly added that since I was there, I could come in. She complained that I brought my cell phone with me into the X-Ray room since this was against the rules.  (This was a normal room, certainly not an MRI room.) I explained to her that I understood the rules, but that I was in severe, acute pain, and that I was expecting a call from my neurosurgeon at any moment.) Under the circumstances, I had to keep my phone nearby. She was clearly annoyed but placed my phone on a table. She was positioning me for an x ray when the phone rang. She refused to hand it to me. I begged her to see who it was. She told me it was Dr. Z (my neurosurgeon.) I told her that I absolutely had to speak to him very briefly and asked her again to please give me my phone. She refused to do so. I became angry and insisted that this was a medical emergency and that she give me the phone immediately. She responded that the rules did not allow phone calls. I told her that common sense was more important than the "rules" and I needed my phone! By the time I convinced that it was essential that I speak to my neurosurgeon, he had hung up. I could not return the call since he called through a hospital switch board. Hearing the disagreement, a woman who introduced herself as a manager came in. I told her what happened and that I wanted nothing more to do with the initial technician, whose name I learned was Heidi. The manager finished the exam. As per company policy, she would not give me Heidi's full name but suggested I write to customer relations. This technician's  behavior was passive aggressive, hostile, and lacking compassion and common sense. She had an unwelcoming and unfriendly attitude from the start. I have been a physician for 50 years. While I understand the need for rules, there is also a need for common sense and kindness. If any of my employees treated a patient so deliberately callously, she or he would have been terminated immediately. RF, M.D.

I have been a patient of Dr Malinow for a year now and I have been extremely impressed by both him…read moreand his entire staff. Every time I arrive at his practice they have been expecting me; I never wait. In fact, I'm usually running a little late and I get a friendly call inquiring if I hit traffic and what my ETA will be. Immediately I'm able to see my doctor. Lou is extremely thorough, thoughtful, and his follow up is unbelievable. Lou is just different than other doctors. I'll give you an example, my medical record shows that I started taking an antidepressant during my separation/divorce. Most doctors would see the obvious reason/cause for such a prescription. However, Lou knowing that I had just moved to Baltimore from San Francisco delved deeper and he wanted to know how I was coping with this transition and more importantly how I was getting along with creating new friends and socials groups. He precribed me rec league team sports to foster new friendships. That's a superhuman kind of listening that you don't acquire or get to use in a traditional rushed primary care setting. Lou being a participating doctor of MDVIP seems to empower a terrific physician to be superhero physician. Every visit I've had with Lou is similar as he goes deeper than I thought possible or have experienced in the pastx That one time he referred me to GI specialist just to be sure he didn't miss anything, well Lou's diagnosis was spot on whereas the GI doc was "unsure". When the CT scan was complete, it was Lou who called me personally within 30 minutes of it being read by the radiologist whereas the GI took the standard 24 hours to call me. In fact, it was actually his staff member that did the calling. I believe Lou cares about my health more than I do. I feel as if I am Lou's only patient to rationalize why he is so attentive with me. However, I understand his practice has nearly the max capacity of 600 patients that MDVIP allows to ensure personalized patient focus, which is way better than being just one of a few thousand like my previous doctor. And yes, I'm on a first name basis with my doctor because when someone knows you as well how can you not be? I cannot say enough great things about Lou. While he is my primary care doctor, in just a short year, he really feels like a friend who knows and cares more about my well being, than most of my actual friends.

There also seems to be an issue with them saying things that never actually happened did. Back in April, I scheduled an MRI for one part of the body *with contrast*, sent an order over specifically for that part of the body, only to have Washington Open MRI mess up entirely. I got a call on Thursday saying that they had a question for my provider and for my insurance. The Washington Open MRI staff claimed that they would reach out to both. It seems they did not. They claimed that they'd need to cancel my insurance if they didn't hear back about an authorization. So, I called my insurance company for authorization. My insurance plan doesn't require authorization for this procedure, and moreover never received an authorization request. The staff claimed that they initially scheduled my appointment at Owings Mills and then would have to reschedule because a doctor who could oversee contrast quit. No doctor who oversaw contrast ever worked at Owings Mills. A doctor at another facility quit, and they shouldn't have even scheduled someone with a contrast order at Owings Mills. But, instead of being honest, they lied about it. The staff claimed it was my fault that I was scheduled for the wrong procedure. I told them that the order was in an email, I called for an MRI, and there was no way it was my fault. They later admitted that new schedulers weren't trained well. But again, no one takes responsibility and tries to resolve the issue. It's just someone else's fault. Had I actually gone through with the procedure, my insurance wouldn't have covered it since it would've been a duplicate of another MRI.
