Unreliable, unprofessional and Disrespectful. At one point I waited on hold for more then 27 minutes just to have a representitive tell me that he would take a message. I left three messages for Jenifer in the financial department with zero return calls. In the end my surgery was canceled without my knowledge the night before the surgery date due to nonpayment, I was unaware that I could not provide payment at time of intake. I had to return to my personal doctor for a new referral. Long story short I am still walking around with a broken hand three weeks later. The pain is unreal but the Advanced Orthopedic center could not care less. read more

Their billing clerk April is rude and uniformed. The mary street office is a dump and unwelcoming. Waited almost 2 hours and then refused care unless you pay them a portion of your insurance cost upfront. Extortion. Did not get the medical care I needed . Shame , shame , shame on these people. They need to reevaluate how they treat people. Not sure how any of them sleep at night. Do not recommend. Again shame on these people for refusing medical care. read more

Orthopedic surgery by Dr Greenberg (03/24) repaired my meniscus and Dr Reiss (07/24/24) replaced my right hip. I can't say enough positive things about my dealings at this office. Oh yes their Nurse Practitioners are also great. The office staff has always been fantastic. Sometimes you may wait to get in to a Doctor but it's because people want to see a great doctor. Several doctors there are or have been team orthopedic specialists for different MLB teams. That speaks volumes for this practice. So thank you Advanced Orthopedic Center. read more

Advanced Orthopedic Center Took my mother-in-law to see Physician Assistant there (no MD available) after having shoulder pain. The NP lifted her arm aggressively making my MIL grimace and stated, " you need a shoulder replacement". She then stated my MIL had a torn rotator cuff and they don't recommend a repair for someone elderly and said, "we repair the shoulder and let the new joint do the work". She went on to tell her how long she would take to recover and my mother-in-law nodded in agreement for the surgery. My MIL is 81 years old. I asked for an MRI and she said it would not matter. I insisted 3 times and when I told her I was an RN she reluctantly agreed. I asked if a steroid shot would help or physical therapy and she looked exasperated and agreed to both. MY MIL got the MRI 2 days later on Feb 1st. I called yesterday and asked for the result. I was told she needed to wait for her appt in mid March to get the result? So we drove to the office to get a copy of the result ourselves. The report stated she DID NOT HAVE A ROTATOR CUFF TEAR and she had a bursitis , a small cyst and a tiny labrum tear, which for these tears surgery IS NOT NEEDED OR RECOMMENDED and heal on their own in 4-6 weeks with rest and anti inflammatory meds like Motrin. While we were there we walked over to their physical therapy office and cancelled her appt. The girl was angry at my MIL and stated , I just confirmed this and now it is too late to fill your spot. She told my MIL that she needed the therapy for her torn rotator cuff. I stated that she didn't have a torn rotator cuff and she stated, "whatever she has, physical therapy will help". If I was not there as a medical professional to insist on the MRI, had the ability to read the results , my 81 year old MIL would have gotten a total shoulder replacement SHE DID NOT NEED. The shoulder would have healed on its own in 6 weeks and it would have looked like the surgery worked. Also my MIL has Medicare and TriCare where no precert was going to be needed so no one would have required the MRI to precert the surgery. Noone would have known the surgery wasn't needed. I left a message to speak with the office manager, Michelle and the call has not been returned. This was our experience, and a reminder to be proactive with your healthcare, be your own advocate or bring one. In our case it saved a 81 year old woman a very painful surgery , and the serious complications that go with it like blood clots, etc. read more

This review is about the staff at Advanced Orthopedic Center( Port Charlotte) My husband met Dr James on 11/26/24. Really liked Dr James, listened to everything my husband told him. Was ask to get a MRI which he did. Call the office (Dr) after Mri and was given an appt for 3/31/25. Dr said everything was a go, then found out they were waiting on American Imaging to send over something. Meanwhile no correspondent from Dr office as to what is going on. Continued to call office about status. This continued until 5/1/25. Was told we owe 20.00 co-pay, which we told them when we first went in to see Dr. Made a trip over there to pay the co-pay, and Carlie was rude after we told her we would like to speak to someone on the Dr's staff. Was told know one was available. While we are there Diala? ask what was going on. Didn't wait to hear their conversation. Came home. We received a call about 1 Hr later telling us they can get my husband in next week. This could have been already done if staff wasn't so incompetent. We now have to start a search all over for a Orthopedic Doctor. Maybe Dr, James will find a competent staff. One can only hope. As stated at the beginning of this post, this is not about Dr James(really like him). This is about the staff. read more

The Punta Gorda office is a mess. Expect to wait 1-2 hours from your appointment time. The waiting room is like an airport. Really poor reflection on the quality of the medical staff. They need to get their act together. read more

I had 4-5 visits to AOC and I can easily say that everyone of the visits left me wanting more professionalism. I search out medical help to get the best advice and ideas for how my issue(s) can be best served. I don't want a doctor asking me what I want to do! My last visit was set for 2:45 PM and I finally got called into the office at 4:00 PM. I guess my time isn't valuable. They told me that I needed a knee replacement and that I would need to have an pre-surgery physical and pre-surgical physical therapy. I made the appointments and both places told me that AOC did not send the orders for these. When I confronted the AOC offices about this they had sent the orders and that they are dealing with hurricane issues. Aren't we all! When I asked why they haven't returned my calls that I had been leaving they said they only return calls on Friday's. That is the first I had been told that. Seems unprofessional to me. The doctor then got on the phone and told me that he didn't think he could work with me! Thanks for all of your help! I am certain that they will find a way to bill me "on-time"! I waited to be seen for my appointment for 1 hour and 15 minutes and still was not seen so I walked out. In a community of mostly elderly and patients in pain...this is unacceptable. My previous appointment I waited 1 hour. Obviously this clinic waaay overbooks the appointments and it is the patient that suffers. read more

I have used Advanced Orthopedics for a few different reasons over the years, but will say that the Punta Gorda office is THE WORST! I arrived early for my appt today because it had been some time since I was last here and knew that I would need to update paperwork. My appt was scheduled for 10:15. While I was filling out paperwork, another gentleman came in and the receptionist said he was all set for HIS appt with the same doctor! When I asked the receptionist about this she very rudely stated that they book anywhere from 1 to 4 patients for the same time for 1 doctor. She stated that the time spent with nurses allows the dr to finish up. When I stated that he could not be in 4 places at the same time, she (again very rudely) told me that was their process. It is now 11:00 and I am still in the waiting room. read more

Just finished dr appt with Dr Robert Stchur and he was great. Office staff were very friendly and customer oriented. Had shoulder problem and Dr Stchur diagnosed my problem after a couple of arm movements. Highly knowledgeable and extremely personable. This practice does not value patients time. My last appointment here was my last. I've had it with waiting 1.5 hours each appointment. The doctors string you out for multiple appointments that aren't really necessary. My last visit was nearly a two hour wait. When my patience ran out I got up and left the waiting room, all the staff was concerned about was me checking out and paying my bill. While waiting I could hear the doctor coming in and out of other rooms and chatting with the staff about nonsense. The staff was hanging out doing nothing. Total disregard for my time. Extremely impatient and rude. I had a couple questions and I could not get a hold of the person I needed to speak to for about a week so I contacted April at the front desk who transferred me to the person I couldn't get a hold of, just to get her voicemail again. I contacted April again and she wouldn't even let me finish my sentence before the hold music started again. When I finally did reach the correct extension, she wouldn't listen to my question and just kept repeating information that was not helpful. I have experience with 4 different doctors at the Advanced Orthopedic Center in Punta Gorda and in Port Charlotte as well as their physical therapists over the past decade. What I appreciate most about their practice is that they prescribe physical therapy if they think it may avoid surgery. I was suspicious of orthopedists previously (they are surgeons) and reluctant to go for help. I have been successfully treated twice previously for shoulder and foot injuries and am starting therapy now for a foot and ankle injury. I am optimistic that it will be successful too since they have excellent physical therapists. They also helped our son avoid neck surgery. I have heard only favorable comments from patients in post-surgical therapy. I do not hesitate to recommend the doctors and physical therapists at this practice. The practice is very busy as is true for all the better medical sources in our area. The influx of retirees, seasonal people and vacationers who flood our local infrastructure are often impatient with their demands and unrealistic expectations. Their numbers and demands often stress the doctors and support staff, and disappoint patients with the difficulty to get appointments or the necessity of imprecise appointments as they try to accommodate all patients. read more

The staff is so rude at the Port Charlotte location; none of them smile. They all look miserable and act put out when you call or go in.

I have been using the facility in Punta Gorda for several years because the doctors are good. However, the front office staff leaves much to be desired. They are bordering on rude, look at you as if you are an imbecile and overall not helpful. I am no longer using these doctors because of the staff. On three occasions I had appointments only to be told I didn't when I got there. When I handed them the appointment card the receptionist looked at me like "so what do you want me to do about it" even though the date and time were clearly marked on it. By the third time I was so disgusted, I walked out. read more
