The hospital itself is nice--just be prepared, it stays chilly all day. But I will say, once enough patients comment about the cold, the heat definitely kicks in! Lol. Checking in can be confusing. Even if you check in downstairs in either building, you still have to check in again at your respected clinic. Honestly, that feels like a waste of patients' time, especially when you already arrive 30-45 minutes early. It's not nice to the elderly either as it causes confusion. My appointments have gone well, though. Waiting between appointments isn't the most enjoyable unless you're patient or good at passing the time. All of the providers I've seen have listened and been very respectful. Dr. Downey in Pulmonary and Dr. Wienberger in Cardiology are excellent doctors. I didn't get to meet Dr. Balkissoon, who was my originally assigned pulmonary doctor--sigh. I've known Dr. Downey for over 15 years; he's a great doctor, and he rarely accepts out-of-state cases which was a treat to work with him again. Now that there are two buildings, it would really help patients if the schedule clearly listed either the "Smith Building" or the "Main Adult Clinic Building." They can abbreviate the buildings if possible on the schedule. Some of my appointments and procedures have been moved up, while others remained at the same time, but overall my experience--15 years later--has continued to be positive and meaningful. Best wishes to everyone who comes to this wonderful research hospital. I hope you receive the answers and understanding you need for a better quality of life. Happy Yelping!

THIS WAS DELETED IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS ON GOOGLE AND I'VE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH EMTALA…read more I have a rare tumor that could potentially spread, waiting on an adrenalectomy, & I don't want to be on any type of birth control or have any other surgeries first. Based on my symptoms I strongly believe I have endometriosis & I've already had to diagnose all my other serious problems, including the 2 rare genetic disorders. I have an extremely high pain tolerance due to a near lifetime of cluster headaches but I was in excruciating pain & was actually crying in the fetal position on the gurney. He came over & asked me where it hurt, I said my uterus. He said, "Can you point to it?" I said, "Do you not know where it is?" & boy did that make him mad. Well, how insulting is it to ask a 42 year old woman without obvious brain damage if she can locate the source of her very distinct pain when she's got blood coming from the same place as the last month of the last 30 years?! I'd already reported this pain to my PCP and it was in my record. He kept almost yelling at me to sit up as I was literally shaking in tears from the pain & couldn't. I'd already suffered for hours at home before even going there. I told him I just wanted some Toradol & thought I'd be ok. He refused on the grounds of nothing & said I could only have Tylenol. Toradol is like stronger ibuprofen and has absolutely no abuse potential. Every time I'd plead for some Toradol or ANYTHING other than useless Tylenol he'd repeat his obnoxious "We do things in a step-wise manner here" line, & I guess Tylenol is always Step 1 at PSL. It's stupid to take a step that's only going to set you back or delay your progress if you already know for certain that step is useless! I have a "multi-gene deletion", and have a lot of odd little problems like not metabolizing a lot of drugs well or having paradoxical reactions and have proof of this in my records! Absolutely nobody abuses Toradol anyway and it's stupid and cruel to make me take something I'm 100% sure won't work and wait around an hour before he'll actually try to help me. It would be great to just be believed for once. Pain is not a virtue and there's a psychiatric term for people who enjoy watching others suffer when they could help and it's not supposed to be physician. This was clearly about punishing me for not treating him like a minor god bc he decided I needed an intravaginal ultrasound and he should have known I wouldn't be able to sit through it I was in so much pain so it just furthered my suffering without any additional information. Of course, at that point he could have actually given me a real medication and gotten it done but I guess it wasn't that important after all bc he was just determined not to give me anything but ineffective Tylenol. And as a victim of SA, I really don't appreciate having strangers down there for no good reason. I have medical PTSD as the result of the obvious cancer it took them 5 years to diagnose after saying I had it for 5 years and being treated like a lunatic. I also have PTSD from the SA. This whole experience was incredibly traumatic and I would NEVER IN A MILLION YEARS go to an ED if I thought an OTC drug would help and I'd already been prescribed one thing that didn't work. It doesn't get you high and isn't dangerous for short-term use so why was he so determined to give Tylenol & not give some kind of reasonable medical explanation for why it wouldn't be safe to take a different drug? I really don't think there was any, Ryan Reinkin, DO is just a misogynist. I think that was his name but he wasn't exactly impressive enough to remember after submitting my complaint to the medical board. Nobody better tell me to contact the patient advocate, these people are completely, utterly useless for actual help. They are there to try to prevent violence & lawsuits & don't care about you, they work for the hospital. They "investigated" & determined that they do things in a step-wise manner there. *Insert cursing here*

One of those doctors was a specialist so I just followed their advice, but for the first doctor, I'd say it's better for patients to hear "I need to consult with our specialist" then get the right answer over guessing and being wrong especially when you are frantically googling a condition you're not familiar with on your phone in front of me. Billing could be vastly improved - I cannot count how many different bills I received so any sort of consolidation would be lovely. Additionally, I don't understand how it's so hard to send the correct billing document to the patient. I've requested the same document multiple times now using the specific form name and I keep getting sent the wrong thing or being thrown into an email loop.

The doctor didn't want to listen to how my mother said she was feeling which I found to be disrespectful. My mother just went to her new doctor ( my doctor) not a Kaiser doctor for her annual checkup, had a cognitive evaluation and was given a clean bill of health. The doctor said cognitively she was normal for 86 years old and that one of her medications can slow the cognitive circuits a little and she was in good shape. For the past few days, I've been dealing with typical viral cold symptoms that escalated to include a persistent cough, chest pain, shortness of breath, throat irritation, nasal congestion, bloody discharge, and a severe headache that turned into a migraine. Concerned about these symptoms, I tested twice for COVID-19--both negative. After my chest pain worsened, my friends and family urged me to seek urgent care. At urgent care, I explained my symptoms and received a strep, flu, and another COVID test--again, all negative. Despite feeling like there might be an underlying issue causing my symptoms to worsen, I was given a breathing treatment, prescribed an inhaler, and sent on my way, feeling like I had wasted both time and money. After following the care plan to the letter with no improvement, I made an appointment to see my Primary Care Physician (PCP). Instead, I was met by a nurse, Ms. Roberta Owens, at the East Denver Clinic on August 26th. I arrived slightly late, feeling absolutely miserable, and received a call while checking in, warning that my appointment would be canceled if I didn't check in within 10 minutes of the scheduled time. Already struggling to speak due to my symptoms, this added stress was not helpful. Ms. Owens quickly took my vitals and started asking pre-questions. From the start, our exchange felt defensive and combative. I was coughing so severely that it interrupted my speech, yet she continued to push the conversation. There were no tissues in the exam room when I asked for one, adding to my discomfort. I expressed my main concerns--particularly the intense sinus pressure and headaches--and suggested that I might need a referral to an ENT specialist. Instead, she ordered a chest X-ray, which unsurprisingly came back clear. Back in the exam room, Ms. Owens reiterated that what I had was likely just a cold, dismissing my concerns. While I understand that sometimes immediate medical remedies aren't possible, compassion and kindness can go a long way. Unfortunately, Ms. Owens seemed dismissive and didn't listen to understand my concerns. Her demeanor left me feeling emotionally drained on top of already feeling physically unwell. This experience was a stark contrast to the quality of care I've come to expect from Kaiser. I hope that future interactions will be more attentive and empathetic.

She even met me on a Saturday (not office hours) to give my girl the last of her three-day antibiotic shots for an ugly ear infection. Personally, she diagnosed and has helped treat issues I've had for years -- that a counselor, midwife, dermatologist, and naturopath didn't catch. While it is a younger and smaller practice, I'm definitely willing to overlook a less-than-friendly receptionist who answered the phone a few times or confusion with paperwork. I had been struggling with mold toxicity along with a host of other symptoms and felt truly stuck, but he completely changed that for me. From the very beginning, he listened so well and really took the time to hear my whole story. Prior, I had seen my PCP, an allergist, and had countless visits to urgent care where they all could not find a cause for what I was experiencing, recommending I address "anxiety." On the other hand, NP Yu explained everything in a way I could actually understand, breaking down everything and helping me see the bigger picture of what was going on in my body. He identified the right testing, uncovered clear biological markers, and built a comprehensive plan to address the root issues. For the first time, I felt like I wasn't just being treated for symptoms, I was actually being cared for as a whole person. Because of his guidance, I've experienced dramatic improvements that I never thought were possible, and also genuinely learned so much. What really sets him apart is not just his knowledge, but the way he genuinely cares. I left every appointment feeling heard, understood, hopeful, and supported. If you're on the fence about functional medicine like I once was, I can honestly say NP Yu is the person who can help open that door for you. We waited about 30 minutes before being taken to a room. They gave her Tylenol and ran a COVID/RSV test. While she continued vomiting in the room, we were told we needed to go back out to the waiting room because they "needed the room." I questioned how it could be safe or ethical to send a vomiting child back into a crowded waiting area, exposing her and everyone else to more germs. Their response made it clear they didn't care. At that point, I decided it was better to take her home than force her to sit in a waiting room covered in vomit. As we were leaving, we saw a grown man vomiting all over the waiting room floor with no help, no vomit bag, nothing. That's the environment they expected my four‑year‑old to sit in. The lack of compassion, hygiene, and basic standard of care was shocking. The whole experience felt chaotic and dismissive--more like being told to "pull forward and wait" at a fast‑food drive‑thru than an emergency room where sick children and adults are supposed to receive care.
