I asked lots of questions and they all were happy to answer all of my worries. Bankruptcy is not fun and it hurts to go from outstanding credit to bad credit. Mr Spivack seemed down to earth and knew his business of Bankruptcy well. He made it seem effortless working on the case, which made me feel at ease. My feelings of bankruptcy was very hard on me and my family but the law Office of Joel R. Spivack eased the pain by doing a wonderful job. Thank you all, but mostly Joel R. Spivack. Sincerely Rhonda

I thankfully took her recommendation and can say, hands down that I not only find Joel to be "one of the BEST", but without hesitation, HE IS THE BEST! I have needed his expertise in several real estate contracts and conflicts of contracts since then, and he is nothing short of AMAZING. He is so skilled, articulate, clear and for me, he possess what I consider to be a very important lost art in the legal arena, PATIENCE! (I know, I live with an attorney!) ... I have learned the hard way, as good as a realtor might be, they CANNOT protect and secure me with one of my largest financial assets such as a brilliant real estate attorney such as Joel R. Spivack can. I honestly wouldn't trust anyone else. I am so very grateful for him for I feel he is a dying breed of honesty and integrity, Always Thankful, Cie Abed Cuomo

    Thompson William J Attorney

It's been about 8 yrs since my divorce and I can't get the terrible experience with Bill Thompson…read moreand his cronies out of my mind. First, he was referred to me by my best friend, a parnter at another law firm for his "reputation." Indeed it is good, but that doesn't mean he will be going to bat for you, at lease not in my case. In our first meeting he was rude, rushed me, and sent me away after 20 minutes but charged me for a 1 hour. I should have realized that there was a problem on his part because I'm a very low key guy. He sent me to a mediator who will be the subject of another review, Carl Viniar. Guys, stay away if your wife's attractive. Then an appraiser who also has a good rep but also seemed to be swayed by wife's daily phone calls. I actually saw Viniar hugging my ex-wife in the rear view mirror one night after mediation. So much for neutrality. When I mentioned it to Thompson he just shrugged his shoulders. My main peeve with Thompson is that he didn't keep a close eye on what was going on with the mediator and appraiser and accepted their biased reports without any criticism. Toward the end I asked him if I better do better going to court and his response was "you couldn't do any worse," but with no further action or recommendations. So now I live with the fact that my ex embezzled my daughters trust fund and no one noticed. That she was embezzling from my office and personal funds and no one noticed. They were so worried about me they forgot about her. Just another tragic divorce story I know, But at $500/hr you would think I would have done better.

Please see my other review on William Thompson, Esq as well. I saw Mr. Viniar, not as an attorney,…read morebut as a divorce mediator to whom I was referred. He seemed like a nice guy initially but during the 6 months he prolonged our mediation, my opinion of him changed dramatically and remains awful. In my opinion, he breached any oath he took to be a neutral mediatior, forced me to accept a bad settlement and, unfortunately, was not questioned by Thompson, my attorney about his actions. It has been 8 years since my divorce and I have thought about this a great deal and talked to many other Family Law professionals and a Judge as well. I could write a book but will summarized the facts. My ex-wife was attractive and always had a revealing blouse on. He encouraged her to call him whenever she wanted for help with job re-training(after telling others she never intended to work again). She called him frequently and was I'm sure quite manipulative, gaining his sympathy. She used to giggle and joke around with him the entire session as I tried to stick to the unpleasant business at hand. He actually said to me once that I should be more like my wife instead on so glum. But I was the one making all the concessions. In mid-mediation, she switched to an aggressive attorney instead of sticking to Viniar's list of "mediator-friendly attorneys." When I showed concern about this he simply brushed it off and said "he's getting better." Their relationship progressed over time and one night I saw him hugging her in my rear-view mirror after completing a session. I should have bowed out then but already had too much invested to start all over. I wish I did. As Spring approached he actually said it was time to wrap our our mediation because "he was getting busier now." The settlement was completed, signed and we were ready to see the Judge when her new attorney actually ripped up the agreement and made extra demands on me a few days before the hearing. Being exhausted and having paid a lot of cash already I agreed to them. It left me near bankrupt without a dime to retire on at 63. And I have been struggling to get back on my feet for 8 years now as she basks in the sun in her Florida home in the Winter and has not worked since. As a professional myself, I consider Viniar a disgrace to his profession and blame Thompson as well. Looking back I should have done things very differently but I trusted these so called professionals to be fair and honest. Be very careful who you trust in the Divorce process. It does matter.
