I am a former student of SVS and unfortunately I cannot be proud of this affiliation. During the…read moreyears I attended and afterward I witnessed some blatant hypocrisy and violations of the school's stated philosophy, including by some of the most seasoned staff members. The claim is that decisions are to be made by the entire community via School Meeting, but the staff do in fact gatekeep and manage to exclude any ideas or proposals that they don't like without any discussion whatsoever. I personally have known quite a few people who were burned by the heavy-handed controlling efforts of certain staff members. Make no mistake: SVS is NOT a democratic school; it merely masquerades as one. If the founders don't like your idea (or don't like you), it won't be up for a vote; it'll be squashed preemptively. There isn't necessarily anything wrong with a school where students aren't in charge. But it shouldn't pretend to be what it's not.

It is a safe and loving environment for children of all backgrounds. The director Leslie is superb and is so involved that the children know and love her as much as the teachers. She is understanding of many different personal situations and will work with any family to provide the best care. The ratio here is great. Kids get the attention they need. They get tons of outdoor time and enrichment. Scheduling is flexible. After coming from another school in the area that did not meet expectations I can firmly say that changing to Pilgrim was the best choice I ever made for my child.

My child loves going to school at PNS.I feel like my child is learning a lot there and just not being babysat for three hours. My child can now write their name, recognizes letters and letter sounds, and can use scissors (at 3yo). Classes are small. The atmosphere is relaxed. The teachers are all experienced and have taught there for many years. As a parent, I highly recommend going for a tour if you're looking for a small nursery school that will give your young child a great start in their school career.

I am a first generation woman of color, and I grew up in a small town in Texas. Boarding at CSW was a very dramatic change for me, but it has also given me opportunities that I would have never imagined experiencing. I have had nothing but the most supportive and passionate teachers who are completely dedicated to my success. I have been given opportunities to travel and experience the world alongside my peers, and those memories are something that come once in a lifetime. My son ADORED their daughter and he oh so loved the owner and her husband. He never cried at drop off and was always happy at pickup. Every morning he was so excited to leave home and go to "school". They do lots of hands on arts and crafts and lots of cool field trips. She uses the BrightWheel app and was very consistent everyday with pictures, meal time, potty time, artwork and play time updates. I dropped one star because I felt like they would close somewhat often and unexpectedly. As a single working parent it was very, very hard. All of my immediate family work during the day so I had no one as backup care and couldnt afford to pay a backup sitter, but that is no fault to LLT. They are normal people with lives to tend to as well. If you are a married couple or a lucky parent with consistent backup care at home or extra funds to pay a backup babysitter, I would absolutely recommend enrolling your child here.
