I've been a member since this Y opened in 2003. The facilities and equipment are fine. I have a problem with maintenance. The shower heads don't seem to have been replaced since 2003; the soap dispenser in the first stall, which is one that the water pressure is good, is sometimes not working, missing the thing that make the soap come out, and the steam room door drag on the the floor, making a horrible screeching sound. It's been that way for months. I recommend that the supervisor staff inspect what they expect. I look forward to a better steam room and shower experience.

Going early morning is your best bet to be able to access machines without hordes of high schoolers either hogging them, or simply blocking them while they doom scroll endlessly on their phones. I have spoken to a number of people that are fed up with the lack of awareness the teens have, and their lack of hygiene when it comes to wiping the machines down after use. I wish the Y, like other gyms, would make the weight room a cell free zone. It's one thing to use your phone for music, but when I work out on 3 different machines, while waiting for someone to move on from one they're sitting on scrolling, it is simply infuriating.

And this is one of the better ones I've used. It's a good YMCA located in the Greensboro area, and it looks kind of brand new, and in some ways is a better one than others - but it also has a lot of notices about stealing and stuff which is creepy and not very welcoming. I had a good workout here there and I was tickled by the fact that there's a Smoothie King on premises - a little Smoothie King window on the way to the locker rooms, no less. Owned by Mary Shelley and Katy Perry, and it sort of shows.

I've been going to the Kernersville YMCA for a few years now, and what truly keeps me coming back…read moreis the people-both the instructors and the community they've built in their group fitness classes. I've taken everything from Pilates, yoga, cycling, tone, and Zumba, and you can genuinely tell that the instructors here are knowledgeable, intentional, and welcoming to all fitness levels. Huge shout-out to Karen, Kimberly, and Adrienne, who recently launched the new Yoga, Body & Balance routine. It was so well-structured, energizing, and thoughtfully led. Leonia, Viridiana, and Teresa also deserve major recognition for delivering consistently intense, motivating workouts that really push you (in the best way). What stands out most is the environment. These classes feel inclusive, encouraging, and community-driven. It's the kind of place where you don't feel judged but you feel supported. The connections I'm making in these classes are honestly a big reason I stay consistent. If you're looking for more than just a gym and something that feels like a community, the Kernersville Y truly delivers.

I called before I came and they told me that the pool would open at 4:30. Then 4:45. Then 5:10. But they close the pool at 5:30 regardless. The family bathrooms where you can take your kids to change after swim lessons are closed. One has been closed for more than a month. I saw a man take his 2 little girls into the men's locker room because that was his only option. I talk to management and no one cares. And they make no effort to make it better.
