My cancer treatment started and I decided to cut my hair short - and she did that cut for me (free). My mom died and she reached out and said "come relax and get your hair done - you'll need it before the services" That's someone who truly cares (again didn't charge was just being a good person). She has become a trusted friend, and honestly my hair has never looked better. I cheated on her recently my (ex) doesn't understand how hair works and how it's a part of you (no fault he is almost bald). Ashley did my hair yesterday and we went for a pride theme! OMG. Before I found her on a whim during my sophmore year of college, I typically got my eyebrows waxed at various nail salons. The staff is friendly. Heather performed skin tightening laser treatment. I have recently been diagnosed with rosacea and she focused on the areas where I am starting to see some redness. She was very friendly and attentive. Since I have never had this performed anywhere before, I really have no baseline to compare it to. She could have been super thorough or not nearly thorough enough and I would have no clue! She initially cleaned my face, applied the laser and then a tightening mask. The whole process was approximately one hour. I was told that the collagen production doesn't increase for 3 weeks and it takes 3 sessions to see results. She left the foils in way too long because she booked another client at the same. She also applied my all-over color at the shampoo sink, and then left me at the sink for it to process, which I have NEVER seen in my life. It was uncomfortable to be in that position that long. I probably could have overlooked all of this (by chance I had nothing else to do that day, but I don't know who has FOUR hours to spend at a hair salon), but when my highlights came out literally orange (I'm not exaggerating...cheeto orange) because she left the bleach on for too long, instead of owning up to her mistake, she tried to convince me that it looked good. I told her no way, it needs to be toned, and so she did fix it--but then charged me extra to do so. After being there for four hours, I was too tired to even argue the extra charge. :(

As a gift from my mother, I was given 2 gift certificates (one for me and a friend) to get a cut from Crystal Coville at Fortunato's. I had never had my hair done by her before, but assumed it'd be great just like any other time I'd gone there. I called immediately to book an appointment and never even received a returned phone call. I ended up going elsewhere because I had an event I needed a cut and style for that weekend. I'd almost forgotten about the Groupons until I got a reminder from my mom that they were expiring soon. I called, left a message, and texted Crystal. She informed me that she was not directly associated with the salon (?) which is apparently why I never got a returned phone call two months before, when I called. I find it hard to understand how individuals who work at a particular salon do not return a phone call from a client who left a message on the salon's main answering machine, but that's neither here nor there.. So, after many texts (and, again, not one phone call) with Crystal, I booked an appointment for myself and one of my employees for both of us to go get a cut on a Friday afternoon. The day before the appointment (Thursday), I received a text from Crystal asking if we would be showing up. Confused, I finally realized there was a miscommunication in her texts to me and she asked us to come in on Thursday, not Friday. I explained that I would've never booked that appointment for Thursday because my office is open until 5:30 on that night and we wouldn't have been able to close early during the week. She informed me that she had no availability on the day I had booked. I asked her to let me know when her next available appointment was. She ceased communication with me. I tried calling several times, with no response. I even went as far as calling from my office phone and having my employee call. After four days, she finally called in and told my employee that she would not honor the Groupons because they were now expired and "she doesn't have to honor expired groupons." She also told my employee that I was a "snippy b*tch on the phone" with her and if I had an issue with losing money on the wasted Groupons, I "can take it up with Groupon." I find it hard to believe that a local business, a few blocks away from my home, would have employees (or booth renters) that would treat anyone, let alone someone who is a center of influence as a local business owner herself, this way. I am absolutely appalled at how we were treated throughout this whole process and, as a result of her actions, lack of communication, and sheer lack of respect for myself and my guest, I will NEVER return to Fortunatos and I will deter anyone I know form giving them business as well.
