Capitol Area Driving School - The dreaded parallel parking cones.

My son's driving test experience was just as everybody said it would be... calm, cool, and…read morecollected. Nick was exceptional to work with, easy to schedule with, and made the process super peaceful and easy-going. I definitely recommend!

My child must have had a one off experience since everyone has given 5 stars. Anyway, I don't…read morerecall the adult's name who observed my child's parallel parking and driving portions of the test, but he was an older gentleman. He was condescending, rude and unprofessional with me and my child. He had lots of grey hair, he was around retirement age. With the way he treated us, he should be retired and away from young kids trying to get their license! At this business, they make the first time drivers (many of the minis 15 or 16 years old, mind you) start with parallel parking. The student gets one try. If they aren't lined up directly in a straight line with the cones, you have to pay one more and book another appointment. Kids aren't given a second try or any "suggestions" on what they can improve on before the second attempt. I think that is quite fraudulent, especially with the condescending tone and word choice this old man had with my child and I. Perhaps we got stuck with an older gentleman while everyone else; who gave this place 5 stars; must have a pleasant adult observer. Too bad we didn't get that. Especially knowing these kids are first time drivers, you would think they would receive some patience and not an intimidating and rude experience from a business. Take my word, book your appointment with not this man. Too bad I can't remember his name, avoid a retirement age man for your kid's and your own sake.

Yes, I'm 32 years old and I just got my driver's license - hooray!! I couldn't have done it without…read moreJanita at 1 Stop Better. I used to think that my friends could teach me to drive, but I finally realized that I needed the wisdom of a professional and that's just what I got. Janita not only taught me how to drive well, she taught me how to pass the State of Michigan road skills test (two very different goals). She also helped me relax while I was driving by telling me a slew of truly bizarre stories. Trust me, great storytelling ability is an excellent quality in a driving instructor. I took 4 hours of lessons. I found the rates to be the best among all the local driving schools. It's $50 an hour for adults, or $95 when you purchase 2 hours at once (and you don't have to use the two hours at the same time). As far as I can tell, this business has no storefront. Their website is kinda lame, but it gave me the phone numbers I needed to get the ball rolling. The practice vehicle was in great condition and fine to drive; it comes complete with a passenger side emergency brake! 1 Stop Better does not offer road skills testing. Oh, the best part is that they will pick you up and drop you off wherever you want. I was able to turn my lesson into a ride from my Ann Arbor job to my Ypsi home - and I drove it! Being a regular bus commuter, that felt awfully good.

I finished segment 1 a while back and I went there 3 times to get my certification of completion…read more Every time they either didn't have the keys to the building or weren't there. 3 months later we went there again to get it and they said I didn't even go to class. After showing proof of the lessons they "found" my certification in her office. Can't believe it took 3 months to get something so simple.
