U P D A T E: Searching for another architect and speaking with those 'in the business', I discovered *many that despise working with Dave Weinrich due to the reasons I detailed below. What a surprise. ~Very deserving of many negative stars....... Sooooo UNbeliveably UNprofessional! We only met Dave Weinrich once and that was clearly too much. During this meeting, no matter how many questions I asked, he had this awful way of directing the answers to my husband (Who does that?). That was the first strike. Explaining what we wanted, showing our drawings done by hand, rolled up and secured with a rubber band, it took months before we saw any work from him. We had heard that he was extremely difficult to reach but took our chances due to the area. Maybe he's busy, we thought. We told him we weren't in a rush, but months? Receiving the 'basic' drawing, I was flabbergasted at the lack of detail. Few dimensions. Not sure what to expect, but certainly more than that. How pathetic that you have to call him to remind him to check his email. Gee Dave, didja get the revisions that we emailed about, asking for an ETA? No. We put up with that for a bit. The bathroom had to be reversed, simply put the shower on the other side, then flip flop the toilet and sink. Copy and paste, right? It took him a month *and we had to ask for a drawing just to make sure he did it correctly. Not knowing what the next step was, we eventually asked and asked for our drawings to be returned to us, in a tube, only so that we could compare his to ours. It had been so long, we had completely forgotten. "You should get it any day now" was his response. After the shock of seeing our drawings folded - and the second strike - I saw the date on the meter strip - he mailed it "after" the last time we asked. His lie was proven. The third and absolute last strike was his insincere apology for the drawings being folded - and now ruined. The hours we spent planning and hypothesizing down the drain. He said verbatim, "Well, it was put together with tape and didn't think it was important..." You don't get to decide what's important or not! Consider for a split second how our drawings were presented - brought in rolled up and NOT folded. Who cares how the pages were held together?! We used computation paper with grids so that the drawings were to scale. We asked them to be sent in a tube, and he Couldn't. Even. Perform. the simplest task. No website even. Zero communication skills. What if we had continued to work with him, suffering through more egregious mistakes and lies? We didn't put up with that crap, and neither should you. Once we build and compliments pour in, it sure won't be *this guy getting the accolades. And no, we won't refer anyone *to him, but certainly away from.......... read more
