TLDR: Dr. Bennett was unprofessional, exploitative, scammy, discriminatory, and did a surgery on my mouth that failed and had to be triaged by a specialist. As an undergraduate student, I had progressively receding gums on a couple teeth exposing some nerve and causing sensitivity. I didn't have much experience navigating health care, and my attempt to address the problem started with calling a random dentist office (Dr. Bennett's, unfortunately) to ask the receptionist what is the term for the right kind of specialist who I should go see. Rather than saying, "a periodontist, we recommend so-and-so", . The only pre-operation consultation I had was with the younger Dr. Bennett, even though I found out on surgery day that the operation would be by the older Dr. Bennett. To be clear, he booked me for surgery without having ever seen my mouth, and the only pre-surgery evaluation was by a junior practitioner who wasn't qualified or licensed for this surgery. Also on the morning of surgery day, after I had arranged time off work and a ride, they called to say that Dr. Bennett would only see me if I arrived two hours earlier than scheduled because Dr. Bennett wanted to leave early. I should have cancelled and found a different provider, but I didn't know any better and was worried about how much more my gumline had already receded during the wait time for my appointment. Dr. Bennett surgically grafted cadaver tissue, which I later learned from a competent periodontist had no potential to address the issue because it can never replace the correct type of gum tissue that should be tougher and less vascular. Worse, in the week after the surgery, the graft failed and my face got infected and swollen. I of course tried to follow up and called the office, asked for an appointment, asked for a call back-- anything.... one receptionist booked me and then called back to say actually they wouldn't see me. I finally contacted Dr. Bennett through calling the after hours emergency number on the office voicemail. He texted that it's past my bedtime and I should be sleeping. During this period Dr. Bennett also made the dismissive and seemingly sexist comment "I bet your daddy's paying for all this, huh." During this period, I was continuing not to brush the area and following his instructions to only use mouthwash. Probably this was futile, probably the graft was already lost, but who knows, as he did not reexamine it. After a month, I went to an urgent care who told me that I needed to fire Dr. Bennett and find a different dentist, which I did, and that dentist immediately and urgently referred me to a periodontist, who informed me apologetically that I would have to redo the whole surgery. I later was diagnosed by a different provider with 13 cavities, although I had never previously had any, and am suspicious this month-long period of being advised not to brush and no follow-up care may have contributed. Although he was far too busy to help me during the fallout of his failed operation on my mouth, now 14+ years later, the office of Dr. Bennett continues to send me spammy texts hawking infomercials and lagoon ticket lotteries, which has prompted me to finally submit this overdue review. Also, he never refunded me any of the fees I paid in cash for the failed surgery. YOU ARE BETTER OFF GETTING NO DENTAL CARE THAN GOING TO THIS PRACTICE read more

I am so grateful for Dr Bennett and his expertise. He has been working with my daughter to help her sleep (apnea) and small pallet size and it is absolutely working. She is sleeping better, no longer snores, her pallet is normal size now, even her facial structure looks healthier now. 100% highly recommend!! read more

Dr. Bennett is a quack. He tried telling us that our daughter needed a "consultation" for her breathing due to her "small mouth" and rattled off a list of conditions that she would be "susceptible to." My daughter was terrified and asked us if she was going to have a heart attack. He didn't even address the reason we came in, and just jumped right into this slimy sales pitch. They are fast, friendly and professional! My family went to David's uncle Ron Smith (Courtyard Dental) for our dental needs since all my kids were little and now they are all grown up. When he retired and we had to switch dentists we were nervous turning to a new one, his nephew, David Smith especially since they switched locations but we have been pleased with both David and the new location as well! This is a great set of dentists and technical staff. They are warm, kind, caring, and professional. You can tell everyone there likes each other and that the staff feel valued. The work quality is top notch. Pricing and billing practices are fair. They are up front about things. My family has been using Dr. Dave at ADC since we moved to Provo years ago. Dr. Dave came very highly recommended to us. The negative reviews found here on Yelp do not reflect my experience of Dr. Dave or ADC, not even a little. If you check out other rating services (Google reviews, birdeye, etc.) you will find Dr. Dave/ADC routinely averaging 4.9 out of 5 stars on hundreds of ratings. read more

I agree with everything the other poster said. Do not go here--they tried to charge me more than what my insurance covered because they think (probably correctly) that no one's going to take a second look. When I confronted them, they played stupid and said that "insurance rates are complicated and confusing." What?? They also wanted me to get so much unneeded care--I got a second opinion from my family dentist back home (I'm a college student) and he told me I didn't need any of the stuff they were telling me to get, save for just one filling. They have great equipment and do good work, but they charge through the nose. They also seem to over-diagnose. I suddenly seemed to have a whole lot of expensive teeth problems. I hadn't been to the dentist in over 10 years because of horrible experiences throughout my childhood and teenage years. I am autistic and the sensory difficulties of the dentist is one of the worst scenarios for me. I have been denied by other offices because of my immense fear. Even though I cried through half of it, every single staff member from the receptionists, technicians, hygienist, and Dr. Bennet treated me with patience, kindness, and empathy. They let me know what they were going to do and never rushed me. They accommodated every sensory issue I had and made it work. They gave me my options clearly and made sure I was taken care of and knew exactly what the next steps would be. Everyone was honest, clear, and I never felt rushed or like I was a burden. They didn't shame me for my fear or waiting far too long to come to the dentist as an adult. I trust them immensely and will be forever grateful for them. read more

Leave Happy! I would recommend this dental office for anybody looking for a dentist that you can trust, who goes above and beyond for his patients and truly listens to your concerns, while providing high quality dental care in a friendly, professional, happy atmosphere. My husband was a new patient and they have this amazing new advanced technology called a 3D cone-beam CT scan. Most imaging centers or hospitals generally charge $350-600 to run this scan. I was surprised when I was told it was $149 because Dr. Dave wants to make it affordable for patients to receive the benefits of this technology and the convenience of not having to go to a third party for this type of scan. It allowed the doctor to view at different angles seeing clear, detailed, three dimensional images. My husband had an abscess a few years ago under his wisdom tooth and ended up having a root canal. The scan revealed infection under his root canal and if left untreated, could have caused serious health issues. Dr. Dave took the time to explain his diagnosis and concerns, while showing us the 3D images (it was incredible seeing this skeletal picture) and I felt his genuine care for my husband's overall well-being. I am grateful for the advanced care that my husband received, the technology that assisted in the evaluation and the excellent service that was provided by Advanced Dental Care. This dental office is dishonest to the "nth" degree. They wanted to do work that was not necessary. They told me I had "bugs" in my teeth when referring to cavities. They LIED about the number of cavities I had. They told me I needed a crown when I most certainly did not. (The reason I know this is because after the visit I went to my regular dentist, who is one of the best in SLC). When I told the dentist at ADVANCED DENTAL CARE in PROVO that I had been accepted to Dental School, and had been an assistant for 5 years, his entire demeanor changed. He seemed downright itchy, he looked so uncomfortable. The assistants were SO SO SO inexperienced. The visit was painful and painfully long. The only reason I went there was for free bleach trays that were a gift if we donated to a charity, which we did. Once they realized I was not going to get the recommended work done, they refused to give me my bleach trays. CROOKED and DOWN RIGHT THIEVES. Do not...I repeat...do not patronize this dental office. I went in for a first time dental cleaning. I entered at 1:40 p.m. and exited 4.5 hours later. No lie. I felt like a trapped/caged animal. The blonde bimbo at the front desk couldn't give me directions or the office address when she phoned the day before to remind me of my appt. Red flag...big time! I have a fabulous smile (my parents paid thousands in orthodontia....duh!) and the dentist still tried to sell me on veneers. C'mon. Oh yea...and the hygienist actually numbed me for my cleaning procedure, saying it was required because of the tip on the instrument she was using-- a glorified water pic. Do not go to this dentist. It was the worst experience I have ever had. As the dentist was doing his analysis you would have thought I had neglected my teeth for years, as nearly every tooth had either a cavity, a crack, or needed a root canal or some major work of some kind.
