Narborough railway station is located between birmingham new street, and Leicester stations, on the…read morecrosscountry trains service route from Stansted Airport to Birmingham New Street, the service is around 1 to 2 services an hour in either direction, some services in the east direction only go as far as Leicester, Cambridge, and some go to Stansted Airport. As some trains stop as less stations you may need to change at Leicester to reach stansted airport. The station is served by crosscountry trains turbostar 170 trains, and these can become rather busy during the morning and evening rush hours. The station is within close proximity of Narborough town centre, and allows a convinient location for passengers.

I'm not sure how easy it is to review what is essentially a timber yard (nice chippings? Lovely…read moresawdust?? Wonderful sawing technique???) but I have actually popped in here a couple of times and always found the staff to be such sweeties that I thought I would give it a go. Tucked away between houses on Northfield Road this is a building supply company that specialises in wood and timber. I've been in before to ask about chippings for some misguided (and ultimately doomed) gardening project I had in mind and they let me have a load without even charging me. I've also popped in to get some planks and pallets (again a gardening project that never really happened) and they hardly charged me anything at all. Staff are lovely and if you live in Harborne and want a new fence panel (or have grandiose plans for raised beds etc) then I would definitely recommend this place.

I gave Hawkes Timber a try and was really impressed with their yard. Most importanlty they were a fair bit cheaper than the chain stores. No more B and Q for me!
