First of all when I call to check the status of my tow the young lady who answered the phone was so friendly! Most of the time when you call a tow company it's a chore! She answered all of my questions and followed up! Let me tell you the level of professionalism was Top Tier! (I was ready to go in but I was taken aback!) The was the absolute best experience I EVER had with tow service. Now it's time for the tow. I was called when he was about 30-45 minutes away. I told the young man that I was a little bit away.. He jokingly told me to "take my time but don't take my time!" He was hilarious... I think he should have taken up stand up comedy but towing is even the better! He explained the process to me and what I should expect.. I said to my self I must be on PUNKED! This type of service is unheard of. I was so impressed that I just want to get a car towed for the hell of it! I'm about to start calling people to see if they need something towed. He made of point to show me the side of the truck where he has the words so elegantly airbrushed on the side of the truck that says... "Towing not Hoeing", surrounded by flames! This guy is a riot! Just when I'm aggravated with the city something like this pops up and makes me love New Orleans all over again! I promise I will NEVER use another service again! After four days there and numerous phone calls back and forth, and him bringing it to the Jeep dealership himself to help figure out the problem, he calls me back and says its been fixed. I go there expecting a $5,000 bill and end up paying $150.00 for "the labor" because he didnt have to change any parts, etc. Long story short -- a mechanic can easily steal $5k from you for labor and parts, etc, especially if you don't know much about cars (I don't, and he knew that). Had Steve's need and phone in my address book as a friend had recently recommended the shop. Called AAA and had the car towed there - having never been there before. Talked to Steve on the phone and explained what had happened just prior to the car dying. He said he would take a look at it - but off the top of his head it could be a fan belt, the battery or the alternator. Early afternoon - call from Steve - car fixed - it was the alternator $303 (the part was $185). Went to pick it up at the end of the day...couldn't have been nicer - answered a few questions I had, gave me an estimate on additional work I need done in the future (which I requested - he did not suggest it) Bottom line - great service, honesty, integrity and fair prices. These are a lost art in car repair. The shop is a true working shop- don't expect a cutesie waiting area and crap like that - this is a place where real mechanics work. Grease, grime, parts, cars and tools - and the shop dog too :) Home run for this place.
