I've had serious lower back and hip issues (after a bad injury), as well as neck and shoulder problems (pain, stiffness, pinched nerves) for years. After recently moving to the area, I was referred to Dr. Ashby by several new neighbors. And I am so glad I was! Dr. Ashby is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He is probably the gentlest chiropractor I've ever seen. But the results are remarkable. I can walk better, faster, and with less effort than I have in years. I''m now walking 1+ miles (no big deal, I know - but it used to be!) with almost no pain in my hip and lower back. And because my flexibility is so much better, I'm walking faster and with less effort. I can actually exercise again. Before seeing Dr. Ashby I could make it about 100 yards before I had to stop, because I was in intense pain. AMAZING! And my neck and shoulder issues have improved, too. Now my wife is seeing him (she has also had long-term lower back issues) and is seeing big improvement after just a few visits. On top of that, Dr. Ashby is very nice man - incredibly kind, friendly, and supportive. His staff (I've met Chris and Deirdra) are just as warm and friendly. And the office and exam rooms are great. I got to the point that i could not move when the pain started on day 4. I used Yelp to find a chiropractor in this area. Up came Dr. Wakeman. I was not too far from this office so i called and made an appointment. They got me in and i spoke to the Dr. He made some recommendations that proved to me, this guy knows what he is talking about. I will say this, i believe that, had i not visited Dr Wakeman, i would not be well today. Within a few visits, he got the pain to subside and gave me hope for a cure. The entire staff is awesome and very caring. They have some massage therapists and they are all very good and experienced. This office is the only chiropractic service allowed in the medical building where they are located. They come highly recommended by some other Dr's in the building. What people may take as not caring is actually, his expertise and knowledge of what he does. The quality of life regained by his talents can not be over stated. Hello, we shook hands and he held up my X-ray and said, you need a new hip. My response was, just like that? He said, yep. I said, kind of like ordering a pizza when I'm hungry, and he said yes. In my opinion, that showed a lack of interest in the detail of my injury and lack of detail in care planning. He was arrogant and disrespectful in interactions with me. He seems challenged and aggravated by educated people who ask questions. My husband is a physician, and I am a Ph.D. in psychology. If you like to blindly follow recommendations from what is in my opinion a middle of the pack physician, then he might be the right one for you. Also, I met 2 people in PT who expressed to me that they were not happy with the surgery he did on their knees. They had pain and swelling and limited ROM long after the date he had told them they would be "back on the pickleball court". I did not allow him to do surgery on me. He told me I would never walk again without surgery. Well, I walk well and did so without surgery. After I asked him if he read my history of RSD in a prior bone break in my medical history (which he had not), he agreed surgery could be a risk.
