I recently visited the Interstate Battery Center in Killingworth Ct. I was in need of a generator…read morebattery. The clerk came out with two. He wanted $90.00 for the one that would have best fit my machine. I asked if he had anything less expensive. He answered that this particular battery was usually sold at $115.00. When I explained, in a very nice way, that I had seen a similar battery on line for $30.00, his answer was, " Well, why don't you just go and buy it on Line? Have a nice day." I am at a loss as to how a company can be allowed to treat customers Like this. The first clerk I had handed my battery over to someone eled because he didn't want to deal with it. The clerk was rude. I was lied to about the closing time. Maybe they didn't want to stay later than 5:00? The others in an adjoining office were foul mouthed, and very derogatory to women. The office was not dirty: it was filthy and obviously hadn't been cleaned in quite some time if at all. There was assorted parts and pieces strewn all over the desk and floor and there was nowhere to even sit down. The place needed a thorough cleaning both inside and out. The place exhibits none of the seven tenets of operation that are listed in Interstates web site. I wonder why they are still in business. Bottom line, I walked out because I was not going to get gouged by this guy. The only reason I give a 1 rating is because there is no opportunity to rate a zero or negative numbers. This whole establishment needs a bunch of work. How to treat customers would be top on my list. If you are ever in need of a battery, go ANYWHERE rather than Interstate In Killingworth. In fact, run as fast as you can in the other direction.

I've gotten car batteries there for years and they always honored their guarantee. Unfortunately,…read more6 months later the battery is completely dead for no obvious reason. Apparently, they no longer guarantee the quality of their batteries and take no pride in customer service! Left their with a dead battery and was shocked by the rude clerk who acted as though there was something wrong on my end! With a family full of cars and no time to waste driving to Hartford for battery problems, you can guarantee we'll never be back to Interstate All Battery!

Buying or leasing a car can be a dreadful process. More often than not, as soon as the negotiation…read morestarts, it feels like a high pressure deal where you're inevitably getting screwed somewhere in the process. I've certainly experienced that, and feel as though I'm on high alert whenever walking into a dealership, expecting it to be a less than fun experience. Ty Curry and the entire crew at VW of Hartford however, were so much different than that, and I now have a new favorite dealership to turn to. I emailed an inquiry about a VW Alltrack on a Sunday when they were closed, and decided to risk it and drive from Brooklyn, NY to Hartford first thing Monday morning not knowing if the car I was looking for was still available. Ty responded to the email as soon as they opened and we spoke on the phone as well on my way up. He said he'd have the car ready for a test drive and even met outside to greet me upon my arrival. He was incredibly knowledgeable on the whole VW lineup, and jumped right in to show me a cool feature on the car I was driving that I knew nothing about. He could not have been a more genuinely nice person, and clearly had a real passion for his job. I knew the general price point I was looking at as well as the car I wanted to buy, which of course made the process pretty straight forward. Once we sat down, there was none of the BS that I've experienced at other dealerships, and the back and fourth with the sales manager was quick and easy. We made a deal I was really happy with, and drove back to pick up my car after detailing a few days later. I also received a courtesy call the next day from Ty to make sure everything was perfect. I drove from Brooklyn two solid hours to avoid dealing with another NY/NJ dealership, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. With few exceptions, I've found that buying a car outside of the immediate NYC area is a smart move, and I'd absolutely do it again and would 100% recommend Ty Curry and VW of Hartford for your next car purchase.

Of course he blamed it on previous shop. his mechanics nothing wrong. They do a complete diagnostic check on everything. Just being a Shea tree mechanic I noticed more than their mechanics did with the computer and they're supposed diagnostic checks. I wouldn't use them again. Do not trust them at all.
