I first came across this place while I was looking for a teacher to help me and my wife learn to waltz and come up with some basic choreography in preparation for our first dance during our wedding which was happening in less than a month! Yeah, I know. Very last minute, but oh well, we managed to pull off the first dance pretty ok with only 2 weeks of practice and I have to say it is due to the clear guidance of Mr James Stout who is the head instructor of this studio. I've been to quite a few dance teachers and James is the only one who has been able to break the concepts down for me in a way that I can understand and start to apply clearly. For example, I used to always have a problem with leading in dancing. I still do, but with James's instruction I was able to understand it well enough that I'm actually able to work on it and improve it. Also, unlike alot of dance instructors I've come across, James feels very down to earth with that neighbourly sort of feel, and doesn't use big technical terms to teach newbies which makes beginners like me feel more comfortable. That said, there is no question of his ability and I was spellbound by how effortlessly he executed moves and techniques which for me took a great deal of mental and sometimes physical strain. For me, the state of the instructor is a reflection of the studio they run, and from what I can observe from the instructor, this studio really knows how to teach, they know their stuff, they're pretty relaxed but know how to guide you to become a good and even great dancer if you so choose. I have nothing but praise for this studio, and if I ever decide to take up dancing seriously in future, this is where I'm heading.
