Alright, I am biased. Last time I was able to eat Ethiopian food was 4 years ago, so when we found this little cafe in Wellington, I was beside myself with excitement. It hasn't been open long, it has a tiny sign welcoming you in, and has some really nice people running the place, who are super excited to have you in their restaurant.
Because we don't have access to a lot of African food in Scotland, and because it's been a long time, both myself and the SR went for the whole hog - he had the meat platter traditional style (i.e. with injera, which you use to eat your meal with, with hands rather than knife and fork and rice) and I went for the vegan platter. Vegan! I think we overwhelmed the two people on shift that day that both had to cook our meal for us.
We also had mango juice to drink with our meal. Made with mango, nothing else. No concentrate, just thick meal in itself mango juice. It was awesome.
The meals themselves were lovely, although the injera was unexpectedly cold, but the food on top was hot, and cooked fresh. Dishes varied from super spicy meat, to a mild lentil curry and we ate until we were both achingly full. It was one of the highlights of our trip, and can't praise the place high enough. GO.
