I sold them a Fender Bass and they offered $450 saying the nut had to be replaced as it was not original and some of the washers and screws were also not original. Told me they would probably list it at $850 after the work was done. They have it listed at $1,499 and claim it has no repairs done to it. Some of these bad reviews must be online customers complaining about prices not realizing that they're a brick&mortar location and a small business that has overhead. The service and help they offer definitely makes shopping there worth it. Whether you're a beginner, collector, or even left-handed: there's something in there for you. *BUYER BEWARE* I am not the kind of person that writes reviews on Yelp, but I can't let this slide... I pre-ordered a Reverend LH guitar in August of 2021 and paid a $200 deposit and I waited... and I kept waiting... I reached out multiple times, often left unanswered unless I called at just the right time and someone happened to answer the phone. I was always told the same thing, shipments are delayed and it should be coming in within the next few weeks... This was the answer on three separate occasions and now I can't get any answer from them. They have literally ignored my voicemails and emails and submitted forms on there website... At this point, I just want my deposit back, but I trusted them and waited too long and I can't make a claim on Paypal. It's pretty unbelievable what they are doing and I wish I would've read some of these other reviews before giving them any money. Seriously, save your time and your money and go elsewhere. read more

Ordered some strings which I knew had been discontinued, so I wasn't surprised when they contacted me and told me they didn't have the amount I ordered in stock. That was all fine and good, but it took over 2 weeks to get a response beyond that. On top of that the shipping charges were pretty ridiculous. 22 bucks for six sets of strings from NY to MA? I ship stuff all of the time and I know it ain't cheap, but that didn't make sense. For what it's worth, I think it was the owner who left me the phone message and he seemed like a decent person. read more

4 stars only because my experience with them was limited to a single purchase on their website; however, in that capacity they killed it. Put simply, I was playing my new guitar within 24 HOURS of placing the order. I'm in Philadelphia, they're outside Albany, so obviously I had a geographical advantage however I had a FedEx email notification within 3 hours (I placed the order late in the day too) and when I woke up, it read that my guitar was out for delivery. Also, as a lefty (it's a curse), they were the ONLY retailer on the planet I could find that had the model I wanted in stock. Every dealer I spoke to said that Martin was WAY behind in production (Little Martin LXME) and shipping times were hovering around 5-6 months. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY! I ordered a left handed bass guitar off of this company's website (which by the way their are two websites for some d**b**s reason) and called the storefront that following Monday for confirmation. apparently the instrument which I ordered was out of stock, although the website said their was three left. they said they would only take a 50$ deposit until they shipped out my guitar since it was out of stock, but they still took the entire $650 from my credit card. I repeatedly requested a refund which they kept on denying, even though I had my confirmation number and no product shipped out, let alone IN STOCK. the employee told me that it was back ordered and should be shipped out in two weeks. cool. after a month of waiting I called them back. long story short, I called them every two weeks for a YEAR while they kept giving me the runaround before finally demanding that I get my refund! I even spoke with the owner Dennis(****), sent him my confirmation number, which they apparently lost, and sent numerous emails regarding a refund on this stolen money. still nothing! I have called Adirondack Guitars repeatedly over the last week and have not gotten any answer. Also, there is no voice mail or any way to find out the hours. They have lost my business due extreme lack of customer service. How can I even think about buying a guitar from a store that never answers the phone? I was going to order the guitar today. I will give my money to someone who actually wants it. Update: I did finally get a hold of someone and ordered a guitar. Turns out that was a very bad idea. The guitar I bought was misrepresented by the employee I talked to on the phone. I could not find this guitar anywhere in my city so I had to rely on the word of the salesman. I asked a number of questions and was told the guitar was a good quality guitar, and one I could gig with. This was definitely not the case. When the guitar arrived I could tell it was low quality the minute I took it out of the case. It would not tune up at all, and had a very cheap feel to it. The tuners were very low quality and the guitars tuning was all over the place. I took it to two luthiers and had them do a full check of the guitar. Both of them told me to send it back. They also said it would take $200 dollars to get it in playing condition. I bought the guitar because of the price, so that would null and void the entire idea. I contacted Adirondack and ended up sending the guitar back. It took them several days to place the money back into my account. When I checked it I was shorted $29. I called them again and was told I needed to talk to Dennis who wasn't there. I told the salesman to have Dennis email me with the explanation. I. Waited a week and did not receive any email. I called back and once again was told Dennis was not there. Once again, no email. Almost two weeks later I still had not received an email. I called back and finally got a hold of Dennis. He told me they will not refund the original shipping for them shipping the guitar to me. He also explained that it says that on their website. What it says on the website is, return shipping is not refundable. That definitely sounds to me that the money I payed to ship the guitar back to them will not be refunded. It is very misleading. It definitely needs to be better explained on the website. At this point I am done doing business with Adirondack guitars. I received very poor customer service and was mislead, not only about the guitar, but also about their return policy. It's really to bad, I am left handed and plan on buying several more guitars in the near future. I will be giving my money to someone else. I recommend you do the same. My G&L Legacy came in yesterday... The guitar is flawless, everything I wanted/expected to get...and more. Such a glorious beast...hehe...can't wait to play it with the band. Factory set up is spot on, don't need to change/touch a thing. Anyhow, no issues there at all. I custom ordered everything through Adirondack early Dec and the process and transaction went great. Instead of getting the guitar shipped to Adirondack on the east coast and then back to me on the west coast, I requested that the guitar ship directly to me and this is what happened. I contacted Adirondack early Jan for status and inquired about a change. It was too late to change the order but said they were waiting on a finish date from G&L. I never got the finish date from Adirondack but I wasn't persistent either. Fast forward to yesterday, the guitar shows up without warning. This ain't a big deal for me since I work from home, but I can see how this could be an issue for some. As of today, I still haven't received anything from Adirondack. They might not even know the guitar is finished...heheh...let alone shipped. I can say they are a little slow with email and they don't have their "status updates" in order. I admit I could have bugged them more myself but I don't feel that I should have to do so. Overall I'm satisfied but things could have been done better. read more

TL;DR: Overall, I would buy a guitar from them again. I'm left-handed and they have what I need at a good price. Could they be better? Yes. But they will get my business (and referrals) with some caveats. I gave them 3-stars because I have such mixed feelings about their customer service. Here's a quick breakdown: 5-stars. Humans! When you call during business hours you talk to a real human being... someone who actually works there... potentially even the owner. This is really refreshing and a nice personal touch. When you talk with them it's clear they (actually) listen and care about your business. 5-stars. Left hand dominant?! Incredible selection and great deals on lefty guitars. The best selection I've seen. 3-stars. Web not-designed. It absolutely works -- I bought a guitar from their web site. But it looks like it was cobbled together in the late 1990s by someone who had just learned HTML and hasn't been updated since. No offense to whoever created it... it gets the job done. It's just not aesthetically pleasing by modern standards. 1-star. No voicemail, no message. When you call during business hours, you talk with a real human being. When you call after business hours the phone rings... and rings... and rings... There's no outgoing message ("hey, call us back during business hours") and there's no ability to leave a voicemail message. The first few times I tried to call them (after work) I thought they'd gone out of business. 1-star. No status updates. When you place an order online you receive an immediate email stating that your order was received. That's awesome/immediate feedback! But as with the web site, this email message looks super old and doesn't give you confidence that there's anyone maintaining the system. There are no follow up messages. No "your order has shipped" or "will be shipping in N days" messages. That's the kind of thing we expect in 2015 and it was is sorely lacking. read more

I purchased a guitar on line from this company advertised as a used Fender American Stratocaster (2009/2010) for$740. I took the guitar to my local luthier, did not sound right. When the luthier opened up the pickguard, he discovered all the electronic components were cheap Chinese, not Fender American. I contacted Fender Corporation with the serial#, and was told it is not legitimate fender number. I sent photos of all the guitar components, and the Fender rep said the guitar is not authentic, further that,"to anyone in the guitar business, this is obviously not a real Fender." Manager "Paul" tells me it has been too long since I purchased the guitar to do anything, the owner will not contact me despite several phone calls. My guess is that my guitar went directly from China to this music store then to me. I have all of the proof of outright fraud in writing on my desk at home. Reverb fraud department has been contacted, and BBB. Business does not deserve the 1 star I gave it. read more

I tried to order a custom Martin guitar through Adirondack Guitar. I went over the spec's with the employee on the phone. This is a $7,000 guitar we're talking about. I was told I'd receive an email with the quote for the guitar. Never heard back at all. I tried calling back, but gave up after trying to call them five or six times. Nobody ever answered the phone. I called another Martin dealer. Had my quote that very day and bought the instrument. Must be nice to be able to turn away lucrative business. I sure hope I get to write a better review for Adirondack Guitar in the future. read more
