Incredibly poor customer service. I placed 2 separate pickup orders. I received 2 coupons from corporate in my order ready emails. The fine print on the coupons said the coupons were combineable with instore promotions. I went to the store twice to pick up each order and each time the clerks refused to TRY to scan the coupons or even look at it. I work in legal so I know how to review fine print (I have reviewed lengthy contracts for the last 15 years). When I was turned down at the first visit, I didn't push. At the second visit when I nicely asked the clerk, Lynn, to TRY scanning the coupon, she became argumentative. Lindsey, the store supervisor, then joined the conversation and was equally confrontational. I asked the manager to get involved--here enters Mickey. He was nice but refused to scan the coupon stating "if we do it for you, we'd have to do it for all." Well, yeah, if those other customers received coupons from corporate that explicitly stated they're combinable with instore promotions, then you SHOULD honor those coupons. I was so disappointed by both my visits that I returned 2 pairs of Adidas Evo SLs, 2 leggings and 2 tops. These were my first and last Adidas store purchases. I know how to subtract idas, but I don't know how to Add idas. Located in the fancy shops on Michigan (North Bridge) with absolutely no parking to speak of, except that which is going to cost you a fortune, you have to go all the way up to the upper level and then you find out that they have much higher prices than all the Adidas Outlets. But some people who live in the city of Chicago have money to burn and they don't really care and they want to buy stuff now and make sure they can see it before they buy it... so they avoid the cheaper prices online or in Outlets and just grab it right here. That's fair enough and yes, this is a great company, so I understand why people would pay this much for their stuff. I'm not crazy about their shoes but their clothes are really great. Nevertheless, 2 stars for being hard to access and expensive. Also nobody in the store talked to me at all (but they were busy that day). read more

We had an overall really nice experience here. We went in just to look around but they were having a 30% off sale on EVERYTHING! Me and my friend wanted to try on some shoes, and despite the place being PACKED the employees were really easy to deal with and they were relaxed and got us our shoes even though it took a little while. You can easily find what you need based on what activity you're looking for, and when you need help, the staff are always attentive to assist right when you need it. Sale assistant helped me in this last visit and was able to provide me guidance on how the running shoes I was trying on should properly fit. When the color I wanted wasn't in stock, it was no problem and he was right away able to assist in placing the order online without a hitch. I was curious to try on a pair of highly rated Ultra Boost running shoes and lucky enough they had my size in the limited Mystery Grey colorway! It felt like pillows on my feet and I had to get them. In addition, adidas also had just launched their popular NMD Runners in a variety of colors for both men and women. Although super limited stock was left, I was able to score a pair for my girlfriend in her size! So in short, we walked out of there with two pairs of shoes that we were both looking for! The store is always well organized. The layout was easy to navigate but the displays are aesthetically pleasing as well, just like the other Adidas Stores. I really enjoy visiting this location. This is an absolutely excellent store. The employees go out of their way to assist you to make sure that you have everything. You can really find a good deal at this place. They have a lot of running shoes for women and men and sometimes they have some cool, trendy ones that you might find. We love the Adidas store for their pricing and the quality of the shoes. We love adidas, but we just went in today at this water tower location that we usually go to to try to return socks that didn't fit. We had misplaced the receipt and talked to the man up front. He was okay but then grabbed the manager and she was very rude. Not sure her name, but this is the first time that's happened. She has blonde hair and long lashes. Just very snarky and unprofessional. We understand if they can't take returns without receipt, but the response from her was just bad. & all other places can do returns as long as you have the credit card. This is a phenomenal looking Adidas Store! The customer service here is great and very attentive employees. I would like to see more variety in the shoe selections and maybe some exclusives. Went to Adidas recently to buy a new pairs of sneaker, because I want to treat myself as a reward for my hard work. When I entered to the store it was well organized and clean. I went to sneakers and find a new pair that suits to my feet. And When I try to fit the sneaker I feel comfortable and the price is not expensive. Lots of really great quality and well styled sneakers. One sale associate came to me and ask me if is there anything else to help me with? I'll ask her you have a new stock of this sneaker, they said, they have. When I got it the pair of sneaker, I straight to the counter to pay the item. One of the best retail experiences you'll get in Chicago, the staff is super friendly, knowledgeable of products and not pushy. This is a flagship store that is located within the Water Tower mall, if you really need the "store front off the street" adidas flagship store experience then go check out the new one in wicker park! Side note, this is the place to go for any of your sports and UB needs whereas that other store is Adidas originals so they'll have more street wear and collabos. Keep it up Adidas, also the GM Sara is awesome as well! read more

I'm livid with this store. My daughter worked with a salesman to try on several pairs of shoes and settled on a pair that he said was marked down from $180 to $130. When she checked out, they rung it up for $180. She walked out of the store and told me that they'd rung it up wrong and needed my help. I told her to march back in to the salesman who'd been helping her. She did that and they both went to the manager to get it fixed. The manager proceeded to tell her that only the men's shoe in the same style was marked down. What horrible customer service and a bait and switch to a young shopper. How on earth does an Adidas store not carry shelltoes?! There I was, internally giddy with anticipation, expecting to walk into Shelltoe Heaven, ... to slowly peruse the various colors and textures of shelltoe-ness, soaking it all in, and NOTHING. For most new products, you'll be able to find them in the store the week of release and in most of the available colorways. As a fan of their basketball shoes, I usually end up getting my shoes from here. You can always expect to find apparel and shoes for training, running, basketball, soccer, golf and tennis. During the NBA season, you'll see more space devoted to basketball and the NBA, including a special section for Chicago's very own Derrick Rose, one of their sponsored athletes. The shoe section has all of the current models for men, women and kids, in addition to a special section devoted to miAdidas, which allows you to customize select Adidas shoes to your color preferences to have it custom built. Most, if not all employees are fans of the Adidas brand and will sometimes swap stories with you. This store is everything you would expect a flagship brand store to be. read more

I have no favorites regarding shoe brands, but while looking for some new training kicks, Adidas was one (and turned out to be my final) stop on the excursion. Despite the large number of tourists (it is in Water Tower Place), the staff in the shoe section was extremely attentive. They gave good advice, hustled to help me and others, and turned an experience I generally dread into something I look forward to doing again. The only downsides are the crowds, not only in the shop, but in the mall. They, like most stores at that mall, try to put so much product in, it would be difficult to maneuver through the store at times. Come here if you want to sort through a disorganized selection of merchandise only to be treated like a criminal during the checkout process. When I walked in, my immediate thought was, "Dang is it dark in here!" I don't know if the company didn't pay its electric bills or what, but in some cases there were really under-lit crannies where it was hard to even see the merchandise. Salespeople didn't seem knowledgeable at all about what they are selling. I asked two salespeople- man and woman- if this location carries Stella McCartney for Adidas merchandise. Both were clueless, so I took a lap around the store. At that point when I was ready to cut bait, I ran across a display of yellow-white-gray Stella McCartney goods: a tennis dress with some heinous flower embroidery, a yellow and gray colorblock workout tank and a couple tennis skirts. I ended up buying the tank, only because I was in a shopping mood and felt it would go well with a Zella tennis skirt that I already own. When I got to the checkout line, and presented my ID and credit card, the cashier (seriously) asked me: "Are you Shanti?" when I said yes, she said, "we've had people coming in using other people's credit cards." I have gotten better treatment at Marshalls or TJ Maxx. Fortunately for Adidas, I am too lazy to return the item merely to prove a point. I am a major Germany fan and this is the place to go for my World Cup needs. My best friend is an Argentina fan, so he can get his goods here too. What I really love about this store is how friendly the employees are. They're young and ready to help. There are plenty of associates around. I wore my Adidas 1990's Germany jacket and everyone asked me for my World Cup predictions or simply wished me good luck on the game. I saw some trainers I liked, and marinated on them for a week and came back and tried them on. The staff both time were very helpful and knowledgeable. I bought a pair of ultra boost running shoes from this store last year. They are amazing shoes and I truly love them, but they developed a hole on top of my left toe. I decided to call Adidas and they suggested I call the store. I did last night and was told to come in. I was greeted and I noticed right away that this store is well run with an enthusiastic staff. I met with the store manager, Casey, and after reviewing my shoes he made me an offer, and while it was nice, I felt that since the shoes were expensive they should of lasted longer. Still, I thanked him and decided that maybe these shoes were not for me. Instead of letting me go on my way he stopped and said my satisfaction was important and gave me a brand new pair! He also gave me some running tips and to avoid high speed on the treadmill to lengthen the lifespan of the shoes. I was with my wife and we were both taken with the overall friendliness of all the store employees and especially Casey for going above and beyond in terms of customer service. Been shopping at this location for a while. Customer service is pretty hit or miss depending on how busy this location can get. The selection of "Originals" product seems to be pretty thin, even though the second location down the street has been closed. Was in this weekend and saw something I liked but didn't see my size on the rack. Asked associate if they may have my size in back-stock and was told no, that if they had it it would be out on the floor. Asked another associate a couple minutes later and they found one for me of course. One wonders why retail "brick-mortar" is dying ... read more

I've been here more than a few times and every time I go in there is always a sales rep that notices you and goes up to you to ask if you need help or have questions. I love that their sales reps are all so nice. I recently went and I was surprised and really glad that the sales rep Hugo knew a lot about the exclusive adidas (because some reps at other places don't even have a clue about the exclusive releases). He was really nice and had a wonderful conversation with me and my boyfriend. He even impressed my boyfriend and he's not easily impressed with people's knowledge on exclusives. Water Tower Location has poor customer service and management skills. I was denied a return on a pair of shoes because of the soles being dirty, from me trying them on in store. I had not worn or attempted to wear the shoes in the 2 or 3 weeks that I owned them and decided it was best to return them. I had to call the original store, that I purchased them from, and online customer service to get a clear understanding of the return policy and they both agreed to except the return. This was unfortunate because I am an avid shopper at Adidas and also this was my first time at the Water Tower location. If you can't return shoes with dirty soles then customers shouldn't be allowed to purchase the shoes they try on. read more

My review is long overdue... The purpose of my review is to give accolades to one of the sales associates ( I am so mad that I forgot his name- Josh? ) Anyway, he went above and beyond. After a jam packed work day, I managed to squeeze in some time to visit the Adidas store to find a Chelsea jersey that I really wanted to get for my husband's birthday. Upon entering the store, the jersey was nowhere in sight. I approached one of the associates and he pointed me to where I would most likely find it, but no luck. Instead of him telling me that they were out or asking someone to check the back, he actually did the leg work. He took a while, but it was worth it because he was able to find the jersey in the size I needed. He mentioned to me that I was very lucky because it was the last one and he dug it out from the bottom of one of the boxes. I was visiting Chicago for my cousin's wedding and this happened to fall on the day of the World Cup final. I was looking for a single item, but just wanted to see what kind of other things they had around in the store. Let me preface this as well, I like to shop efficiently and in peace. The store associates are there when I have a question, but otherwise they should just leave me alone. This was not the case this day. I'm pretty sure there were more employees than customers here when I went here which was interesting. They seemed bored, and the door-guy was a little over-zealous and after just walking by him once, he proceeded to come back and talk to me more about how they were trying to get rid of all their extra World Cup gear. I suggested they just give the stuff to me for the price of $Free.99 but they were still selling at full price. Oh well. I did my best to keep my head down for the rest of the visit, grab what I wanted and check out. I can't fault them for trying to help, but it was just annoying to have more employees than customers in this case. In short, it you think it's going to be a slow day and you don't like chatting, avoid this place.
