Dr. Gordon Fosdick - 2024 Yelp Review This review highlights…read morethe magic Dr. Gordon Fosdick performed in getting a 53 year old distance runner running again and 16 years later getting that runner at age 66 walking pain-free again. I began distance running at age 14 as a member of my high school track team and continued to run for 52 years. At age 48 I developed the classic symptoms of plantar faciitis including stabbing pain in the heel each morning. Donut heel pads worked for a while then I finally went to my first podiatrist (living in NE Georgia at the time) and was fitted for my first pair of custom orthotics. These got me walking and running pain-free for a couple of years. In 2004 (age 52) I moved to Connecticut, established myself with another podiatrist, and was fitted for another pair of custom orthotics using the "step-in-the-foam-box" method of mold casting. As I later found out the arch was too low (caused by stepping in with too much force) with this pair resulting in pain and inability to run for one year. I decided to look for another podiatrist that might have sports medicine experience and would not tell distance runners that they can never run again. I had the good fortune of finding Dr. Gordon Fosdick in 2005 and after hearing my story he told me he believed he could get me running again. Instead of stepping in the box of molding compound Dr. Fosdick elevated my feet into a position of maximum supination with the arch in its highest position and then employed the Plaster of Paris Suspension Casting Technique. The carbon fiber orthotics he had made from these molds got me running again for another 15 years. In 2008 I moved back to Georgia and established myself with another podiatrist and for the next 10 years basically refurbished the three pair of orthotics Dr. Fosdick had made for me. Thinking we might need to update in 2019 my Georgia podiatrist made me another pair of orthotics using the "step-in-the-box" molding method. After a few months with these orthotics I was in low level but constant pain. When I compared these to my old ones the arch was ¼ " lower which was enough to allow movement of the arch resulting in constant pain. We next tried compression sleeves which were ineffective. At this point in time I was planning to travel back to New York State to visit family and I decided to make an appointment with Dr. Gordon Fosdick, in Middlefield, CT after not seeing him for 15 years. Dr. Fosdick again listened to my story and told me he believed he could get me pain-free. To my surprise he no longer employed the Suspension Casting Technique but he had a special technique for controlling the foot while using the foam box method. The result was a pair of orthotics that conformed exactly to my arch and within a couple of months I was again pain free and have been for the past 5 years. Now at age 71 I see Dr. Fosdick every 2 years when I'm back in the Northeast visiting family and he keeps me tuned up. On a related note ask him about Colig 10 joint supplement which has helped my hands, knees, and ankles. Thank you Doctor Fosdick for helping me get 15 more years of running and keeping my feet pain free as I advance into my 70's. I've been to five podiatrists in my lifetime and you are hands down the best! Mike Farnam

My mom started going there approximately 6-8 months ago (she went every 2 months). Yesterday…read more(2/3/2020) was her last appt there. Since mom's 1st appt, we had problems trying to get an appt other than on Mondays as well as in the Wlfd office. We were always told that the only appt available is on a Monday & in the Middlefield office. Mom & I both suffer from health problems which is why we don't like Monday appts in case we have to cancel & Wlfd is much closer as I live in Wlfd & mom in Meriden and I drive her to her appts. We explained this at every appt when scheduling the next appt. But the office staff always insisted that day & office was the only available appt. After they called my mom for her appt reminder on Friday, they were rude & demanding that she not cancel this appt. That the doctor was going to talk to my mom about her cancellations. That was enough for us to say no more! We told Dr Fosdick what was going on and he told the staff about our issues RIGHT as we were checking out! Totally unprofessional! As was the staff that kept telling me I was wrong! I held my ground, was very nice considering I was being yelled at for more than 5 minutes in front of other patients. Finally she said "just sign the receipt (she wouldn't hand it over till then) and get out of her office"! I then said "I can't believe you're talking to me like this, where's Dr Fosdick?" (He was on 5he phone leaving me to deal with this very angry person). She then went around the corner to his office and started yelling at him "You want me to walk out, cuz I'll walk out right now!" and on & on. I signed the receipt, gathered my mom up and we left. Normally the staff is super friendly in the office but calling them is a whole different story. They're all laughing & very loud like on a coffee break while you're attempting to make an appt! We also found out mom has fungus on her toenails! WTH?!? After 4-5 appts you finally tell us that?!? And Dr Fosdick never looked up while clipping, filing the toenails to see if mom was in any discomfort or pain, which she was as I looked at her face and had to tell him that he's hurting her. Never recommend this Podiatrist and either of his offices. So glad we're NEVER going back!!
