Recently, during the coronavirus pandemic of 2020, I called Adamstown Beverage 2 or 3 times to inquire if they had a specific craft beer. No one ever answers the phone, during business hours. You get an answering machine that has no recording, so you're not sure if you're even reaching Adamstown Beverage. I left two messages, but got no reply. So, yesterday, we went to Adamstown Beverage in person. They had a sign posted outside that customers must wear a mask when they enter, but obviously that was just to cover their butts, because there were three or four customers in there with NO masks, and the employee was NOT wearing a mask. Wearing masks and using social distancing is mandated by PA Governor Wolf during the pandemic. Adamstown Beverage entryway is tight. The entryway is also where you stand to pay. The entryway is also crowded with stock, and there's not enough room for two people to stand in line with social distancing. Very poor set up! The employee was a grumpy old man, that acted indifferent. He bluntly said "NO" when we asked about the specific beer. When I asked if he could order it, he reluctantly got a piece of paper and wrote down our phone number and the type of beer. I doubt he had any intention of even trying to order it. We made a comment that he wasn't wearing a mask and he didn't have a reply. A customer was standing right next to us without a mask. We felt uncomfortable in there and the employee's indifferent attitude just made it worse. We then drove up the road to the Denver Beer, got excellent service from two employees who were wearing masks, during the pandemic, which made us feel 100% more comfortable. Customers at Denver Beer were also wearing masks. That could have because Denver Beer also displayed a sign outside that customers were required to wear masks, AND the employees good example of wearing masks enforced it. We'll be buying beer in the future at Denver Beer. Note to Adamstown Beverage...simple, good service gets customers to return... we will not be back! As for the customers who are choosing not to wear masks during the pandemic, how inconsiderate, and lazy! If everyone works together during the pandemic, use social distancing and wear masks, this will end sooner for everyone. read more
