Great neighborhood with a lot of interesting shops and diverse restaurants. I really like the popularity of outside dining options (some with patio heaters, but some without so check to be sure in colder weather if this is your thing) and the way the street seems to welcome everyone. Seems like it is most active nights and weekends and the hours of some destinations reflect that. I will definitely head back this way when I'm in town next.

Adams Morgan is my favorite neighborhood in DC. It has such a vibrant feel. This isn't stuffy like the DC many people think of, such as on K Street. Certainly there's gentrification and the party animals can get annoying. This has still been able to maintain much of the character thankfully. It has a lot of longtime favorites. If you're looking for a dive bar, you should check out Dan's Cafe. This is famous for its liquor in squeeze bottles, and probably is the diviest bar in DC you'll find. Bars are plentiful and it's easy to go from one to another. If you're looking for the heart of the neighborhood, you should check out Madam's Organ. This bar is a play on the neighborhood name, and has been the favorite local hangout for years. Also there's lots of ethnic restaurants here. There's a lot of Ethiopian and Indian particularly. It rarely gets visited by tourists, except those staying in the nearby hostels. It just sucks about there not being a Metro station close to it. The nearest are in DuPont Circle and Woodley Park by the zoo.

One of Washington, DC's most vibrant, creative neighborhoods! Before there was a NOMA, Capitol Hill Extended, the chic-trendy Shaw....or resurgence of old DC neighborhoods such as Ivy City, the H Street NE Quadrant or U Street Corridor.....there stood Adams Morgan. This neighborhood is truly an original and no mistake about it, has not changed much since I first came to DC over 30 years ago. It is like the NYC - East Village of D.C. To describe it best...It is the last eclectic space of DC, it is mom and pop, and it's a space rich in DC history. The steady creep of gentrification has changed and affected more and more the landscape of DC neighborhoods, but Adams Morgan seems to be keeping the trend at arm's length. As one of Washington's most artistic, ethnic-culinary diverse neighborhoods....it is full of vibrant energy, color and funky shops. There are great restaurants and bars that line up and down the streets of this neighborhood with the cross-streets of 18th & Columbia Rd. being the center of it all. On this drag, you will find everything....from great eateries, cool coffee shops, consignment shops, CBD joints, late night diners, live local entertainment and a fair share of bars....also, it is the perfect spot to go sop-up your late night binge with a seriously good jumbo-slice pizza!...that is as wide as your torso!! Weekends and late nights are generally more popular times to go to this neighborhood. Most days during week, primarily during the mornings and afternoon, are very slow. Two big events that draw a crowd to this neighborhood is the Adams Morgan Day Festival and the quirky, Porchfest! At both events you can experience the uniqueness of the neighborhood. Also, it is the best times to see what the neighborhood has to offer. I came here to meet up with some friends for Porchfest 2019. It was the best of times. There were lots of eclectic acts, performances, and all day discounts at the nieghborhood bars & restaurants. If you have never been to Porchfest....I highly recommend you add it to your "Things to Do in DC" List. In all, this is a neighborhood that embraces the arts and takes pride in its quirks, odd shops and diversity. Adams Morgan is definitely one of my favorite areas and neighborhoods of the city. There is sort of a bohemian vibe and spirit about this place that truly makes this community unique. If you are ever in the NW quadrant of DC or at the nearby Smithsonian Zoo, I highly recommend stopping by and spending some time in this neighborhood. It is a perfect neighborhood for meeting up with friends, enjoying local eats, or escaping the hustle n' bustle of the city!

I know there are a lot of naysayers out there but, folks, Adams Morgan isn't just 18th and Columbia. There are some very good restaurants scattered around: Cashions Eat Place, Grill from Ipenema, Pasta Mia, New Orleans Cafe, Left Bank, Napolean... And down the hill you have L'Enfant, Locolat, Chi-Chas, and the restaurants farther south on 18th. And let's not forget that Adams Morgan has been chosen as a Hollywood backdrop almost as much as Georgetown (e.g., "In the Line of Fire" with Clint Eastwood). So no more belly-aching! You are talking about my 'hood!

As an out of towner from Boston this part of the city is pretty much the Faneuil Hall of DC.

Yes, Ariana Grande is a good answer, but I was looking for the Executive Office on 17th St! A long time ago, the love of my life used to say that this building was the highlight of her trips to DC, and I can see why. I remember walking with her in the pouring rain next to it, and taking pictures of her exposing herself in front of it. Times change... But this building never did. It's glorious and resplendent. It reminds me of something in France, but better kept, perhaps. It looks palatial. If the White House is a little underwhelming then this executive office is completely awe-inspiring. It's level with the Capitol as my favourite building in the DC area, and is the easiest 5-star rating I've given since my Cousin Daniel got drunk and showed me the ropes.

So we decided to take pictures in front of the Executive Office of the President where the FRONT of this architecture was much more impressive than the BACK of the White House on Pennsylvania Ave. Still a great experience to roam DC and take in the history and political side of the US. (You don't get much of that or appreciate it as much coming from the west coast. Hence, the ignorance of the FRONT vs the BACK of the WHITE HOUSE. =X)

They not playing these days! Can't trust people. People ruined the experience of going up on the White House doors for everyone. Well at least that's what I assumed about the gates being there, not just from construction. I've seen some people months ago taking pics at the actual White House inside so idk maybe it's invite only, but they do have a people's White House nearby and I'm curious to check that out! Anyways lots of tourist here and tours stopping by and I felt good stopping by paying my respects and it's nice to imagine the president living here and or people staying at the top bouie hotels all around the areas! I finally visited with friends and kids after many years of living in DC. I got timed tickets in advance online. The National Park Service employees were friendly and helpful. People should know there are no restrooms in the monument, but supposedly there are some in the Washington Monument Lodge close by. You take the elevator to the top, see the sights, then descend one level where there are educational exhibits and the elevator back down. I found the structure itself surprisingly simple, but that simplicity is what makes it feel so massive and recognizable against the skyline. The huge open lawn surrounding it gives the area a spacious feeling, and from almost every angle I could see other major landmarks lined up around it, especially the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol in the distance. Even with large crowds moving through the area, the space never felt too compressed because everything around the monument is so wide open. Going up inside the monument completely changed my perspective. The elevator ride was short and smooth, and once I reached the top, the observation windows gave me a panoramic view over all of Washington. Looking down at the Reflecting Pool, the National Mall, and the rows of museums made the city layout feel incredibly intentional. I visited around sunset, and the views became even more dramatic once the monuments and streets started lighting up across the city. The atmosphere around the monument constantly shifted throughout my visit. In the morning there were runners and quieter crowds walking through the grass, while later in the afternoon the area filled with tourists, school groups, and people sitting around the lawn. Even with the steady activity, the monument still managed to feel calm because of how open everything is around it. Seasonal festivals and events nearby also made the space feel active without taking attention away from the monument itself.
