I have to admit an odd fondness for the various circles sprinkled around Washington, D.C. I'm particularly fond of Sheridan Circle, mainly because it's particularly scenic surrounded by various embassies, and the statue of General Philip Sheridan (a Union general during the Civil War, and later a general in the U.S. Army) is striking. There is also a memorial to two Chilean diplomats who were murdered with a bomb near the circle (see Letelier Monument). read more
