It is a…read morefamily-friendly space that includes a playground, picnic areas, and open green spaces for recreational activities. The park serves as a relaxing spot for locals to enjoy outdoor time with children or take part in casual gatherings. If you're interested in exploring the park further or learning about nearby recreational facilities, Daly City's Recreation Department offers details on park amenities and rentals for events.

When we lived here (1972-1991), we happened to come upon this park, by mistake, on foot, because…read moreit's tucked away and mini size, one could easily miss this little park. It is high up, but not as high as my old street, Edgemar. We must've taken a different route, walking, a side street, and that's how we discovered it. We drove by here (only saw one person on the basketball court), and I wanted to see if it was here. Imagine my surprise! Seeing places from my childhood, just brings back memories. It gives me the warm fuzzies, seriously. I am so glad that this little gem is still here. I snapped a few pics. I sent them to my sister to see if she'd recognized it. And she did! But I could've sworn it was under a different name back then, though. A large tree providing a pretty view (the city is a pretty view too) actually, there are a few big trees here, a couple of green picnic tables, a basketball court, a red swing set, a small grassy area, a small children's playground, a couple of trash cans. Bordered by a chain link fence. If I lived here, I'd probably make this a regular spot. Since it's tucked away, not many people know about it, maybe just people in the immediate neighborhood (like a three street radius, maybe). There are posted signs, probably the hours of operation. One of them states, "No Parking Any Time." I tried checking in but it wasn't even on Yelp yet, so that's why it's me, who's adding it here.

Kezar Pavilion is perhaps the oldest basketball arena in San Francisco. Built in the mid 1920s, it…read moreis situated in the southeast corner of Golden Gate Park, next to the namesake stadium. The pavilion is the former home of the University of San Francisco Dons and Santa Clara Broncos. It is also the current home of the San Francisco Summer League Pro-Am, a basketball league for professional and college players of both genders. The style of the building is classic. The intimate and rustic feel remains intact despite having gone through several renovations through the years. Except for working bathrooms, modern arena amenities are totally absent here. For parking, there is an adjacent pay lot and street spots are also available nearby. Don't come hungry because food options are rather limited around the neighborhood. The aforementioned Pro-Am league is definitely worth checking out. Games are played at 8 pm Monday to Thursday from June to August. I believe admission is still free. Every year, the league attracts a number of college players, as well as seasoned pros. If you are lucky, you will see some big names playing here (Steph Curry, Gary Payton, and Jason Kidd have all played in this league). I have officiated in multiple NBA/major college arenas but Kezar is special. I couldn't have asked for a better end to my career when I worked my last game here on 03/03/2020 (a CA state high school playoff game), just days before the statewide COVID lockdown. The way it finished was just how I wanted it to be - a buzzer-beating game winner right in front of me. No replay needed. I got the call right. Kezar Pavilion is a great place to check out if you are a basketball fan. For me, it will forever have a special place in my heart.

There's a park renaissance happening in the City and if you require proof, look no further than…read moreIndia Basin Waterfront Park. A ton of money has been well spent to turn what was a scrappy industrial waterfront site into a destination. Here, you'll find artfully landscaped (and maintained) paths that loop down towards the water. Along the waterfront, an enormous, clean, concrete platform is stenciled with art and filled with Adirondack chairs and tables. This space can be reserved and given the sunny weather that can often be found here, it should be. A dock extends out into the bay with more seating. A plethora of well-maintained public restrooms have been added to the site along with, on the upper level, a small museum in the old shipbuilder's house as well as a weekend dining pop-up in the "Food Pavilion", featuring a new chef each month. A big (closed on my visit) building on the site is the place where they teach kids to build boats then get them on the water. Swimming lessons are also provided for community members and the little museum lends life jackets for the asking. Within the next couple of years the park here will expand exponentially (the plans can be seen in the museum). They'll include a full-size basketball court, walking paths, a ramp that ends at a clean beach and a whole lot more. But what's here now should be enough to get you there. I wished only that I'd come with a book or a game as those tables and chairs were a perfect place in which to let a sunny afternoon pass. Because I'd brought neither, I settled for a big bowl of Chicken and Sausage Gumbo ($20), prepared by that week's chef. I enjoyed it at the tables up top, then sat around enjoying the big swinging seats they've installed, with gorgeous water views. This newish, continually improving park is worth experiencing. This waterfront will be reclaimed and what's there now provides an excellent taste of what's to come. Good job, SF!

Nearby there is a community center type area with dead lawn and trash but this just a few blocks away is perfect. I give the designers and builders of the park lots of credit. If you live in the city drop by one day - its not that far no matter where your coming from. Take your dog for a new place to walk. They like that. Sniff, sniff, sniff!!!
