Once again, goes to…read moreshow us, the VA cares little of what happens to veterans, as a matter of fact, they make it very clear, they wish we would hurry up and die. Hopefully under President Trump we will get treated like human beings again. But Dr Willens has been treating for 10 yrs, when I leave I do feel like he has really helped me. He listens and treats problem. Thank God for doc willens, if he was not here, he veterans would not have any where to go.

Dr Willens offered me real hope from the beginning that I would be better. I'm not sure if I will believe him because I was quite afraid to make a change. It's been my experience that when they start talking about changing you're gonna be stuck with a lot of pain Because so many doctors don't believe in pain management. They have taken such care with me I'm so glad that I followed the plan. It has been life-changing for me. I take far less medication that I did when I arrived, which is a great thing because he is reduced my pain which is a great thing! Which I can't say I ever felt this good any other time with any other doctor! Girls in the office are wonderful. You're so kind. They called to check on you. You won't be disappointed. In fact I feel you'll feel as lucky as I do.

    Type of Care: Pain Management…read more Office Experience: Outstanding. Prompt, caring staff. Care QUALITY: Seriously lacking. POOR. I was rear ended on a motorcycle in March of 2003 by an SUV traveling at 60+ mph. The damage to my back was life altering. I'm currently on my 5th Medtronic Infusion Pump, so I have a significant amount of experience with this method of pain control. It's been extremely effective, nearly eliminating the pain in my back. My back has been fused from T10 through L5, with my T12 vertebra having been completely removed with a titanium spacer in its place. I had gone through a 13.5 hour surgery called a T12 Corpectomy, requiring access through my back and through my left rib cage. I also had numerous broken ribs and a broken shoulder as well, so the worst rib was used for bone graft material. The pump was finely tuned by my previous pain doctor, nearly eliminating nearly my back pain, but after 15 years, he stopped filling and managing pumps. I was sent to Dr. Netzel at Coastal Health. This critique in NOT in regards to Coastal Health. I found their staff to be very professional. I hoped for the same professional service from my new doctor that I had grown accustomed to, but that was NOT the case. Within the first 10 minutes of my initial visit, Dr. Netzel told me that he was willing to "bet me" that the catheter coming from my Pump was located on the wrong side of my spine. His said "there's more pain receptors" on the opposite side from where my catheter is located. He made this determination while looking at x-rays. A couple of visits later, Dr. Netzel had my pump turned 7%, causing me significant pain and major Restless Leg Syndrome. About 4 to 5 weeks later, I returned and demanded the pump be turned back to its original settings, but was told that "the pump isn't the problem...the catheter was." He literally wanted me to believe that the catheter was suddenly in the wrong place, despite being completely effective and unmoved for over 20 years. Dr. Netzel discharged me from his care based upon my refusal to allow him to perform an unnecessary surgery. Not only is it unnecessary, but can be extremely dangerous if an infection develops, as an infection in the spinal canal can be potentially fatal. Knowing the complications has me unwilling to take such a risk., especially when the benefits are negligible. Saving a tiny amount of morphine isn't going to make my life better. I transferred to a different doctor at another facility. The first question asked was "why did you leave your previous doctor and come here?" So I told him exactly what happened. He then asked if I had been having problems with the pump prior to Dr Netzel turning it down? NO, I HADN'T HAD ANY ISSUES WHATSOEVER. Everything was fine until he turned it down. I was then told that moving the catheter wouldn't have made any difference if the pump was already controlling my pain. Incidentally, the new pain doctor told me exactly what I already knew...that the surgery was completely unnecessary, and could subject me to the risk of an infection. Until this incident occurred, I have NEVER had a doctor that was willingly to place his patient in pain in order get the patient to agree to an unnecessary surgery. I reminded Dr. Netzel that he had taken an Oath to do no harm and he blatantly violated it. While I certainly want people to listen to their doctors, patients also need to be proactive in insuring that the medical care they receive is going to work well for them, and not allow doctors to perform unnecessary procedures that place them at risk. You are your best own advocate. Educate yourself before you go to see a doctor on any of the conditions that you're dealing with. Ultimately, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CARE YOU REQUIRE AND RECEIVE. If something doesn't sound right, you need to get a second opinion and educate yourself. I DO NOT RECOMMEND DR. NETZEL TO MANAGE THE MEDTRONIC INFUSION PUMP. I cannot comment on any other type of pain relief procedures that he may provide to patients.

The…read moredoctor is not only the biggest asshole I've ever met, he's BEYOND rude , condescending and I think bipolar. He gives me brand new information EVERY SINGLE VISIT, then claims he told me 5 times. I brought my 55 year old mother with me on my appointment to see if I was the crazy one. Von tovel (the sorry excuse for a doctor) walks in and without even saying hi or an introduction of any kind, starts berating me and my mom, who is also a life long nurse. She attempted to stop him and ask why he is talking so rude to us from the second he walked in, and he starts throwing several BS excuses against the wall. My mother was shocked how rude and unprofessional he was. And clearly making up new "information " on the top of his head as we went along with his BS. On top of extremely rude behavior and new information/excuses every visit, he was billing me procedures I NEVER HAD DONE. IF YOU'RE GOING TO SEE THIS CLOWN , CHECK WHAT YOUR SIGNING UPON CHECK IN. YOU'RE PROBABLY BEING BILLED FOR THINGS YOU'VE NEVER HAD DONE. I waited for 2 months to have a procedure, that I never got due to a DIFFERENT EXCUSE every time. But I was being billed for it each week that he had me going. I wouldn't see this sorry excuse of a human being, let alone clown of a doctor again if you paid me. And when I asked for copies of what he was billing me for, he refused. I have a right for copies of what I'm signing. I will be contacting the medical board, the company and my insurance and doing whatever I can to get this information out there. Do not see this guy, he will treat you like shit and Bill you double for it and call it a favor. 0/5 starts. 0/100 stars. SAD EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING.

My wife and I initially went to one of their lunch and learns as I have been struggling with Neck Pain after having been a practitioner of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for 15 years. The first "issue" we encountered was when they booked us for a Friday ... WHEN THEIR OFFICE IS CLOSED !! Luckily I called to reconfirm my appointment and they caught their error and changed it to a Thursday instead. Once we arrived we were brought to a room and the Nurse Practitioner informed us of all the treatment "options" available. Then the large fellow who was the sales pitch guy from the lunch and learn came in and gave me an itemized list of what they wanted to offer me. How can they offer anything without having examined me, taken X-Rays or MRI's??? I mentioned to him that the price they were looking to charge me was too high ($4,800) and could they please come down and meet meat a more reasonable level. He said he had to speak to the "manager" and when he came back he had a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT set of charges which we had never discussed initially. Our starting point was now roughly $6,000 and he proceeded to tell me how we "hook me up". After he whittled down all the charges and we ended up right back where we started. He had in essence just added charges, which he then "took away" to make it seem like he was "giving" me something and we ended up right back at $4,800. This place is probably one of the most overtly sleazy, hardcore pressure sell business I have ever walked into, and that's saying something considering I have bought a used car before, and that guy had more manners than this place. STAY AWAY. They will trick and cheat you into buying their "services" based on nothing more than fear. As I mentioned, they never examined me or took X-rays. How can they in good faith offer me anything??
