I visited this pub a few weeks ago to book a surprise birthday for my husband, I was left sitting for nearly an hour when I was told the lady (Sarah Edwards) would be a few minutes, after waiting so long patiently, I then went to the bar and said that she should have respect and courtesy to inform someone that they would be waiting that long as it is rude and left and sent an email to that effect and to say if she could not do so herself she could have passed on a message to me, to receive an email back saying that I was aggressive, and making her feel unsafe and that she would not host a party for me? Obviously she done this to not get pulled up on her behaviour.
I then spoke to her boss David Mortlock, who I was told was the operations manager. I told him of what happened and that he should watch the cctv, which these days usually has audio, that he would see I was far from aggressive and that Sarah is a liar. I was in fact very badly treated by Sarah. He apologised and said he was sorry for how I was treated and that he would be happy for me to still go ahead with the booking that I was pencilled in and that someone else would deal with it, gentleman called Paulo.
I spoke with Paulo a week after that, I checked the details with him, for him to quote me £300 more that I was originally quoted. I said to him that I would speak to David as I find it odd that he was charging £1500 instead of £1200, I said if anything I thought you many have reduced It due to the way I had been treated not put it up?
I spoke with David, and he said £1200 is fine and that he would as curtesy take £50 off which I did not really care about to be honest.
I today receive an email from David 'the date had been booked out now, as Paulo didn't know you wanted the date. Sorry for the inconvenience.'
So the Adam and Eve pencil people in, then email them to say that you have given it to someone else a few weeks later and that they were not sure that I wanted to book? even though I spoke with the same person this morning and the email came through at 7.30 this evening.
Also may I add I did not email him, he emailed me this at 7.30 tonight? A bit strange.
The way I was personally treated by this company has been atrocious to say the least! I had been nothing but polite, and I assume the lady didn't want the function held there after I exposed how she treats their customers.
Also going up to the operations manager didn't help. This place is awful and I strongly advise against booking any special events with them in case they give the date away, imagine this was for a wake? DO NOT TAKE THE CHANGE. Even if you have it in email like I did!
