The pain she went through was awful, and it could have been prevented if the camp had proper hygiene standards. Kids are barely made to shower--just a quick run under water before jumping into the pool, which does nothing to actually clean them or stop the spread of infection. It's completely unacceptable, especially when children's health is at stake. I would not recommend this camp to anyone until they take sanitation seriously and make real changes to protect their campers. Honestly this is a warning for parents and I am not over reacting.

I've been a black card member for several years now and was using the Waterbury location because it…read moreis close to where I work. This Southbury location is closer to home and about the same distance from work as the other gym. It's brand new and had the new leather smell when it first opened. The size of this location is 2/3rd the size of the Waterbury location but is still a nice size. I finally got to try out the hydro-massage here. Instead of it being flat to lay on this one is in a reclined position, which I like. It has a screen that you can use to pick the target areas you want and the degree of pressure. There's also music, videos, books or games you can play on the screen while the massage is being used. The room is nice and dark so you can relax. I also tried out the new total body enhancement. It's a booth with lights inside and it's like a sauna with controls to adjust music and heat and vibration to your liking. It shakes and vibrates. You have to wear the special eye protection when you go in, just like the ones you wear in a tanning booth. Even though I was told how to use it, it still wasn't easy to setup. Once I figured it out, I only had a few minutes of the experience. I mentioned my experience and reservations about the benefits of it. Brie explained the various ways it's good for you and encouraged me to give it another try. I will revisit it another time. As for the rest of the gym, it is nicely laid out and has the usual layout of machines that most Planet Fitness gyms have. The front portion has the free weights and benches as well as as multi use weight machines. Then there are several rows of of weight machines that work arms, and legs. The next few rows have rowers, regular and recumbent bikes, steppers, skiers, and treadmills. The far right corner has the 30 minute workout area and the back right corner has the abs and stretch area as well as the Synergy 360 training station. For black card members, there's also the Total body enhancement, hydro-massage beds, and tanning. I've utilized the hydro-massage and the total body enhancement. These hydro-massage beds are reclining and contoured versus the flat beds at other locations. It also has more games, video, music, and books on the control screen than the older models at the other gyms. As for the staff, they are absolutely wonderful and friendly. They always greet you whether you are coming or going. The staff makes the rounds daily and wipes down the equipment. I've also seen the machines get tested regularly to insure they're working correctly. Speaking of staff, I also have to commend Michael MsIsaac. He is the personal trainer/instructor. He is the one who does all of the training classes there. He's also the one to design your own program. He'll ask different information about you and what you want to achieve. During my program evaluation he had a notebook handy and wrote me up a workout plan. He also encouraged me to try a core class. Whenever he sees me now, he checks on my progress and asks how it's working out for me. I just recently took one of his core classes. It was great! I got to do more different exercises than my usual routine. He demonstrated and explained clearly what to do and offered easier ways to try if we had difficulties with them. He's a great motivator. I'm feeling a renewed interest and striving to get past the rut I had fallen into. For a new club, they have really hired some great staff and I'm very happy with transferring to this location. One of the other reviews on here said the staff was *extreme* in their friendliness, that it was annoying. I didn't think being friendly was a bad thing. Also, be sure to check out bagel day and pizza night. I've been to bagel day and they put out various bagels from a local business and coffee. Those are done once a month for all members.
