Did you know that to become a qualified acupuncturist one needs to complete undergraduate pre-requisites (pre-med) before entering graduate college (acupuncture and Oriental medicine college) for minimum of 3,400-3,800 hours to become an acupuncturist? That's just as much as a chiropractor does to do chiropractic. Does it make sense that a chiropractor can take a continuing education (weekend) course for 100 to 300 hours with no supervised clinical training and be safely qualified to practice acupuncture and hold themselves out to the public as "acupuncturists"? Pretty sad and pretty evident what they are doing when there are qualified and properly trained professionals of acupuncture in Rapid, Acupuncturist have training in manual therapies that may or may not include spinal manipulation (called tuina), but they don't hold themselves out to the public as doing chiropractic or attempt spinal manipulation! I appreciate the Chinese Medicine practitioners that are properly trained in our community and frown on the chiropractors that attempt to tread on their turf. I encourage the people of Rapid to do their homework and ask questions if their chiropractor seeks to perform acupuncture on them. It is a matter of public safety and proper education. Always seek care from a qualified and properly educated acupuncturist if you want acupuncture (or Oriental Medicine). Don't see an acupuncture and Oriental Medicine practitioner if you want chiropractic. See a chiropractor. read more
