Todd Salovey's acting classes are indubitably the most memorable classes I'll ever have taken. In…read morethe largest square footed campus of all the UCs, it's incredibly easy to get lost amongst the faces of all the students. In every lecture of 200+ students, it's nearly impossible to be recognized by professors or even cultivate a relationship with them. But with Todd, it's different. All acting classes have a pretty strict cap of roughly 20 students, so the classes stay small. He is fantastic at breaking the ice, and bringing out the actor/actress in even the shiest and most awkward of people. I've taken three of his classes now, and at the end of every class, you will have formed relationships with all the people in your class. Only in his acting class will you forge the bonds that you do with the melting pot of students that show up. In a regular class, most people show up, take notes, do what they need to do, and when it's time to leave just pack up and go about their business. His class is different. You'll find yourself dreading the end of class, and wondering where the time went! A vibrant and extraordinary teacher, Todd has a great passion for his work. He'll usually take the class to go see a play/musical, and more often than not he'll plan a potluck for the class near the end. He is laid back, and very understanding. TAKE HIS CLASSES, ANY OF THEM! Easily the best professor I've ever had. Just don't be tardy/absent or your grade will suffer.

Jason and his team of "Local Photo…read moreClasses" instructors know more about photography and have more passion teaching others than any other instructors I have studied with to date. I love that they offer a free Photography 101 class to get you started allowing you to get a good prospective on their teaching style before you commit. Their "Meet & Critics" have also challenged me to step up my game in this industry. I also love that Local Photo Classes offer additional classes for those who want to learn more - including Flash, Portrait Lighting, Action/Motion Photography, Adobe Lightroom and lots more. Each class is taught by the pros in their field. If you enjoy learning photography in a fun, energetic, interactive and supportive environment, there's really no other place to look than Local Photo Classes! I look forward to my next class which will be Flash 101. I know I will leave that class with a much stronger understanding in how and when to properly use my flash, and like always when completing a class, I will have more confidence in using my gear. I strongly recommend Local Photo Classes for all your photography education. Hope to see you all there!!! Louie

I took Photography 102 at the George's Camera Location in Kearney Mesa on Saturday 3/16 1-4 with…read moreAnne Lynch (see details below ) the class was excellent for me an amateur travel photographer who has been used to using a Nikon Coolpix SL8900 which finally had a fatal telephoto failure , and replaced it with a new Nikon Coolpix A900 . In advance of a self guided nature / eco-trip and culture trip to Jamaica this Spring I wanted more advance skills of shooting Manually and knowing how to how to correctly set the camera ISO, Aperture, and shutter speed and read the meter to get that great shot rather shooting on Automatic and expecting the camera to do what I really want it to do. The Class teacher Anne Lynch is from New Jersey , studied at Parsons school of Design and worked in New York and recently relocate to San Diego. Very skilled teacher in a class room with many different skill levels and different equipment from high end Canon and Nikons to Point and Shoots small pocket camera such as mine, We talked about theory and went out side and practiced so that everyone got a chance to shoot and accomplish with all the manual settings, If you are still taking pictures in 'Auto' or 'Program' mode then this class is designed with you in mind! Photography 102 is not only a great follow up from our previous course, Photography 101, but it will allow to become more comfortable with using the various functions in your camera. You will learn the what the different exposure modes are and why you want to use them. You will finally learn how shutter speed, aperture and ISO work together and so much more like white balance, metering, flash, etc. This class is perfect for people like you trying to get out of "Auto" mode and take control of their images and stop taking blurry or improperly exposed images. Hands-on Learning Experience It is one thing to soak in the information from the class, but you know that you will need to practice what you learn to really master the concepts. In the local class with an expert instructor you will be walked through each lesson discussed in the online lecture and apply it to different subjects and scenarios. You will be challenged to learn quickly but have the comfort of the instructor by your side. You can expect to understand the following concepts after completing this class: *Aperture - How to de-focus a background or capture sharp focus throughout *Shutter speed and how to stop and blur motion or water *ISO in low light and bright situations, grainy vs. non-grainy *The M, A, S, P, or Tv, Av modes on your camera and when to use which *The various white balance settings and when to use them *Using exposure compensation when not in manual mode *Using metering in your camera to expose your images properly. This class is estimated to last 3 hours depending on the size of the group. This class is great for those who want a better understanding of their camera and want to learn how to control their settings rather than having the camera control them. What to Bring: Digital SLRs or Manual Controlled Cameras. If your camera has a M or Manual mode on it then this class is will be perfect for you. If you are unsure, please consult your manual or contact us. Please bring your cameras (fully charged) and fresh memory cards. Pen & paper to take notes if you wish to do so. This class is going to cover the essentials of mastering your camera. Ultimately, we want to get you away from "Auto" mode so you can start taking control over your camera settings and improve your images. I should have just left it there, but I wrote back saying that it would be just be easier if someone could give me a call. No call. I wrote back again asking about one class in a particular and I also asked whether they have free trial lessons. Their response: "I am sorry but that is not the way we work. But, if you ever find a free teacher let us know." Have a look around at other language schools, dance schools, ZUMBA places, etc. many businesses will offer you a chance to test out their classes for free to get a feel for fit. Through Dynamic Speakers Toastmasters I've acquired self-confidence and learned communication and…read moreleadership skills that I never would have thought possible. I joined the club at my first meeting but then let my fear and anxiety take over and I avoided meetings for months. But I knew that this club could help me and so I challenged myself to attend. The friendliness and helpfulness of the members encouraged me to continue to attend to build my self-confidence and communication skills and, eventually, my leadership skills. Besides the membership, what I like about the program is its go-at-your-own-pace approach. The initial communication and leadership manuals take you through 10 projects, each designed to teach you a new skill. I've seen members finish manuals in as little as 6 months or take as long as 4 years. Since joining Toastmasters, when I could barely stand up in front of a few people and speak, I now regularly teach classes, have emceed an event attended by 250, and even given toasts at special occasions. I now voice my opinion at business meetings and am better in all aspects of my job; after all, the key to success in the business world is the ability to communicate clearly and succinctly. The leadership skills I've learned through Toastmasters have allowed me to take on increasingly larger roles as an officer at the club, area, division, and district levels. With the support, friendship, and encouragement of the members of Dynamic Speakers Toastmasters I continue to improve my self-confidence and communication and leadership skills week after week. I encourage you to check our website and to visit us to see how we can help you become the confident communicator and leader you can be.
