That being said, see her more than once, and you'll experience that Rachel's techniques spans a wide range. Depending on how you're feeling, where you're aching and what she feels your body is going to respond to at that particular moment, she's got training and learning and pulls from all different modalities: swedish, shiatsu, deep tissue, the list goes on. I used to think that massage was a luxury reserved for a spa day that I would *maybe* schedule once a year, however I'm seeing real benefits by incorporating therapeutic massage into my health and fitness routine. I can't recommend Rachel enough.

I had never been much of a believer in massage therapy until I met Rachel. I only started to see…read moreher because my boyfriend is a big massage enthusiast, and bought me a session to work out some knots I'd developed from having an office job. Now I'm hooked. She is intuitive, knowledgeable and I trust her fully to work her magic to fix whatever problems I may be harboring deep inside of my web of tissues and muscles. Sometimes when she's working on me, I actually start to wonder if she can read my mind. She knows where to work on, she knows how hard to work on it, and she knows when to let up when it's a bit too painful. She has helped me fix problems I was aware of, and become aware of problems I didn't know I had. She gives me exercises to help me relieve tension and strengthen muscles that have been atrophied due to poor posture or a pronated gait. She is also warm and thoughtful, and always very pleasant to see. I should also mention that my boyfriend, the massage addict, lists her as the top massage therapist he's ever had (out of close to 100 that he's seen in his life). oh yeah, and I like her massage music choices too (I'm a snotty musician). Rachel is AMAZING!!!!

Jeannie has been my massage therapist of choice for nearly ten years. At this point, I trust her…read moreability to heal my various muscular-skeletal aches and pains at least as much, if not more so, than I would a medical doctor. She has many skills and gifts that give her the ability heal others. Among the most valuable and important of those, in my opinion, are that she is: PROFESSIONAL Not only in her technical skills and understanding of the bio-mechanical intricacies of the human body, but also in her continued exploration of ways to improve and evolve her craft through various healing modalities. She embraces and includes the best massage practices that traditional science has to offer, but also expands beyond that to include various homeopathic and new age techniques, such Yoga, Reiki and Thai stretching, in her treatment sessions. COMMITTED Jeannie is understanding of the need for individualized attention and care that each unique person requires, and tailors her specific treatment techniques accordingly. Her ability to make significant improvements in how I feel is a result of her treatment of each session together as another step in a long journey. She is committed to helping heal others, not just with short-term fixes but also with an eye towards long-term, long-lasting, life-altering changes. EFFECTIVE The bottom line with any health and wellness professional is simple: Do they make you feel better? For me, consistently over a period of many years, the answer to that question with Jeannie is a resounding "yes". The hectic rigors and pace of life in NYC, and the stresses that it places on anyone that lives and works here, are substantial. In my opinion, regular treatment sessions with Jeannie are a great way to not only heal existing issues, but also to work as preventive measures that will help you avoid some problems altogether. I give my strongest possible customer recommendation to Nirvana by Jeannie. Enjoy your session!

I am a body worker, a performing arts professional, and practitioner of Yoga, Alexander, dance,…read moreFitzmaurice tremoring technique, and am a teacher of Acting and Voice. I have trained in massage techniques and multiple healing therapies and have gone to internationally renown body workers throughout my twenty year career for work on my own body - more recently for healing with major spinal injuries and tissue repair. Irina is one of the few people in the world I have found who can read the body inside out, offer intense immediate relief AND longer term repair, guiding the body back to healthy rejuvenation, fluid use, and tissue growth. Irina has a true gift, she reads the body and works so intensely, so consciously along each strand of fascia and releases nerves balled up in scar tissue then deeply contacting muscle strands and tracing them from first connection along the entire length - never losing contact. Those little balls of tension or pain that seem inaccessible, she finds immediately and guides into total release / you can actually sense your body repairing itself as she works. It's a constant embodied re-education of ones own anatomy to work with her. The first time she worked on me, a profoundly deep and necessarily excruciating release of my shrunken scarred fascia around the neck, lats, pecs - releasing my jaw from its toehold in the back of my neck - an hour later I was walking down the sidewalk and my entire shoulder girdle gave way, one side fell 4 inches! And my left arm began to swing wildly in a 300 degree Torque with no effort as I walked - a bit freakishly in comparison, where it had previously been stuck to my side. An hour later again, the other side gave way too, and my neck elongated like a giraffe - my whole spine was freed of the girdle and felt I was reaching to the sky. My own "use" could not really shift it turned out, until the sticky scar tissue had a chance to let go -then the clumped up muscles had a chance to lengthen - and finally my skeleton had room to reach upward again, and I could return to my practice of a conscious opening and letting go. My spine had (I thought) shrunken over those years a whole inch, due to disk damage, but the next time my height was measured I was back to full height (6months later still retained that freedom Irina had brought me). The session she released fascia deep around and under my occipital joint - I could actually feel the brain stem pulling restricted and finally, release - it was as if her hands were actually deep inside the skull - I could feel the blood flow and spinal fluid rush in, my thoughts cleared, and ongoing cluster headaches / migraines I'd almost forgotten were there they were so constant, washed away. Pain I'd become accustomed to for several years, coursing throughout my entire neuro-muscular system was gone. This enormous freedom happened in a single one hour session. Irina listened to my body and catered the treatment completely to the deeper information she received. Irina re-educates your cellular, neuromuscular being as she works. She is truly brilliant.

In addition to my own athletic training, it is essential for me to recover with assistance from a bodywork professional. Ruth worked on my whole entire body, getting into the nitty gritty micro muscles that don't get the attention needed when I stretch alone. She is very detail oriented; she works in intricate places and on muscles I've never had worked on by other therapists I've seen. I frequently get massages and when I've seen other therapists they tend to focus the majority of the session on the back and she spent even amounts of time in all places: neck, chest, hips, front and back of my legs, and my scalp. The moment you walk in, she creates a relaxing atmosphere for you to get away from the world for an hour or two. She put a perfect amount of pressure, creating that "good pain" feeling. Ruth is also a great listener. I know many people enjoy relaxing during the session, but I tend to talk during the body work because I'm a chatterbox. Ruth allows and welcomes that. I honestly think she'd make a great therapist with the type of wisdom she drops. I always value what she has to say and I find her presence alone very warm and safe. She may look fun sized and small, but man is she strong! I'm looking forward to coming back to Fully Centered for a follow-up session next week.

She offered me her prenatal massage services at a discount price which was was awesome. I saw her from week 24 until I gave birth. The location: I went to the Manhattan office conveniently located in the Flatiron district. The area was clean and serene. Temperatures are checked and Rebecca wore a mask during our sessions. The massage: I wish it lasted forever. As someone who was pregnant and working at a hospital in the middle of the pandemic, these massages were heaven at the end of a busy work day. Rebecca took the time at the beginning of each session to ask how I was feeling and where I was feeling tension. The massage was so good I often fell sleep something I never did during massages. I honestly never wanted it to end. Rebecca also provided tips on stretches to do to help with my tension. I am currently on maternity leave but I plan to get some postpartum massages once I am cleared by my doctor. I highly recommend her!
