The staff here said hi as I entered and then gave me the freedom to browse. Anyway, it's a lovely little store with some really nice things. It's not just a clothing store, which I appreciate. They do have clothing, but when I was here most of the merchandise was non-clothing; books, toys, games, and so on. The prices weren't super out of line with other children's stores around. The clothing is more on the expensive end--they don't really seem to sell mid-range stuff here. But it's high quality children's clothing (but do check labels--I've been to some children's stores where dry clean is recommended and that's not something I can justify for children's clothing, though I do forget to check the labels). I stopped in to see if I could find something for my friend's son for his birthday, but didn't find something that jumped out on me at this trip. I am not in Northfield very often, so it's not a shop that would be a place that I would just pop by. But if you're looking for something special or a nice gift it would be a good place to take a look.

She told me donate it all and be quiet because this is her business!!! I am all about supporting small business, which is why I was in the store but I will not be returning. Sat items down and left. Three years ago I would have been shocked if someone told shopaholic me that I'd enjoy shopping for my kids way more than myself, but it's true. I skipped the cute women's clothing and made my way towards the back of the store to check out the cute little onesies, tutus, etc for my little ones. I just so happened to be here during the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale so I got some fab deals on kicky pants PJs and other cute outfits for my son. I didn't have as much luck for my daughter, but next time we're in need for a tutu we'll be headed here. If you stop in on the 363 days the Winnetka Sidewalk Sale isn't happening it can be a bit pricey, but definitely worth checking out for the kids. And perhaps even yourself.

My little one was fitted for ballet shoes and immediately found her way to their bar where she demonstrated some very awkward looking dance poses that made me think this ballet thing may be short lived. I wasn't planning to buy any leotards here, but couldn't resist buying her yet another sparkly pink ballet dress. It was more expensive than I've found online yet less expensive than what I've seen in actual dance studios in the past. My daughter was also quite excited about the ballet outfits they sell for american girl dolls here. The two women who helped me were very helpful and even had a binder of requested attire from all the dance studios in the area. Fortunately, 3 1/2 year olds can wear whatever they want so the sparkly pink ballet dress will get lots of use. It was a light blue shirt...see, just like yesterday? Around since 1977, HP Tops is your town t-shirt printing shop that has a space packed with garments and clothing blanks for all your printing needs...whether a Bar/Bat Mitzvah giveaway, a customized gift, or shirt for camp, this is your one stop shop. We needed a special shirt made, a simple black t-shirt with some lettering on it. We walked in, told the owner what we wanted, he arranged the letters perfectly on the heat press, and did the shirt on the spot in less than 15 minutes. All in all the total came to $21. Shirt cost + $.50 per letter. They have an online ordering system, but we were told it's better to come in to make sure it turns out okay. I personally suggest going in, because the customer service is off-the-charts fantastic, and the shop is a fun visit...even if you just want to browse and drum up a conversation.
