Every two obstacles there was a zip line which was a great break for my shaky legs and arms. It was tough - even the lowest two levels - but I love feeling like my arms and legs had a great workout! It was finally warm enough to do an outdoors activity so I booked us tickets to go over the Easter weekend. I reccomend booking in advance as they do get booked up quickly. Also make sure to sign the waivers beforehand; so you don't have to do it at check in. I must say the staff this time around was truly commendable. They were great at instructing us the how tos and safety measures. They were considerate and patient dealing with my young nephews which I noticed and appreciated a lot. We did the tree top journey course as my nephews are still young and aren't quite tall enough for the other/ more advanced loop. This one was perfect for them. Some parts were challenging and scary but we managed to brave through it and were having the time of our lives! Tips: wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Bring a attachable cord for your phone so you don't run the risk of dropping it LOL. An hour gives you around 2-3 rounds on the loop depending on how fast you go through the courses. So much fun! I am considering purchasing buying the packages to take my nephews throughout the Summer.

I took advantage of Black Friday offers and went on one of the last days they were open for the year. Freezing temperatures, but with good layering, hat, and gloves that wasn't an issue (I had pre-purchased their gloves, but wasn't thinking about temperature and got fingerless ... luckily I had brought a thick pair of my own gloves as a backup). I was by myself for the adventure (my wife stayed on the ground and took pictures - it's okay to bring spectators), but there were some other groups on different courses. The staff was friendly and helpful and made sure to tighten up the harness between each course. I did about half of the total courses - two full courses and one halfway, which had an option to return to the start before some obstacles I wasn't quite ready for mentally. The first two courses I did included a handful of obstacles and ended in a zipline. The obstacles get progressively more challenging as you go along, partially in terms of balance, but mostly in terms of fear factor. For me the toughest to psych up for was a set of free hanging ropes that you walk on. The Tarzan swing also took a minute to mentally prepare. The remaining courses I decided to save for another day after looking at them from the ground - I'd been challenged enough for the day, but definitely plan to go back and build up to those, hopefully with some friends along for support.

If you are too scared to go down the zip line you have to back through the course if there's ppl behind you they also have to go back. If you bring kids you have to do the course and zip line or the kids can't. But only one person at a time can go so does it really matter... my son (13 yrs old) had ran ahead and completed to courses before I even did one. They made him stop to wait for me. I appreciated that. But mid way I wanted to back out of the zip line they told me my son wouldn't be able to continue the courses if I did. Some of the staff were annoyed with basic questions like do you have a "trash can "or "do you have smaller gloves" (that are mandatory to wear) but the girl we had was amazing. She was great my son's leg had gotten stuck in a ring on one of the courses she climbed up stupid fast like a spider monkey to help him. But over all it was great and so much fun. And I'm not the only one…read more You'll find runners, bikers, hikers, and all kinds of outdoor enthusiasts along Riverside Drive. Drivers are, for the most part, cautious too because of it. AND there are water fountains strategically placed here and there so you don't get dehydrated on your run. On one side, you'll see the majestic James River and lovely homes on the other. Riverside Drive is one reason Richmond got voted Best River Town in the 2012 issue of Outdoor Magazine. Go on... enjoy the outdoors!

Some paths were easier than others and took some time to go through. We had 12 kids in our group and there was plenty of room for all of them to be on the course at the same time. The instructors that hooked them up with the harnesses was very kind and patient with all the kids. The weather was beautiful this day and so they really took their time on the ropes. I would imagine this might be rough to do in the summer heat though.

I wasn't really sure what to expect and was terrified of falling off something in front of other people, but in retrospect that was half of the fun. Hubs and I were a part of the 9am wave of runners and were corralled in the holding zone right around 9:15. The hype-man was totally entertaining and the music was good, so waiting to go wasn't that bad. I do wish there had been a better system to indicate which time was up though. Since it's a messy race I didn't have a watch on me, so I had no idea what time it was unless I asked the security guard (which I did, multiple times since they told us to get there an hour early). The obstacles were fun. Some were more challenging than others, but all were doable. You do have the option of walking around though if you aren't feeling them. One thing I wish I had thought of before hand: I would highly recommend bringing a towel and a change of shoes in the bag you check. I wish I had had both at the end. My favorite part was where race finishes with a huge slide and a foam party. So much fun! I also loved the viewing area of the Wrecking Ball obstacle. Very well placed and highly entertaining. The MC in the American flag speedo was also highly entertaining. I look forward to running this race again next year.
