My furnace shut down on Sunday evening when the temperature was @-22 c couldn't get in touch with anyone from Action Furnace left a message to get a call back which we didn't ,got up at 5:00 am and at that time I was able to talk to someone, being busy with the cold weather the technician did show up till 7:00 pm. The technician Andrew Brash was very professional ,clean uniform also apologize for the long wait. Andrew was able to diagnose the problem with the furnace and got it running and made sure that everything was in a good working condition before leaving. One star because I can't leave zero. Stay away from Action Furnace! Bought an AC unit from them. Ends up that it is woefully undersized for the house. In fact the temps rise in the house while it is on. I had 3 other HVAC techs confirm this. Second the tech told my wife to basically stay in her lane when she tried to relay the information to him that I had asked her to. Why? Well this was the third or fourth time they came back because it wouldn't turn on. I had taken two minutes, thrown a multimeter on it and knew the issue. They basically told my wife to be quiet because they are the experts. They blamed the thermostat again. It was actually that they wired it up to wired that were cut when an old humidifier was installed. I told them to watch for those when installing. I should have known then from their terse "ok". I phoned to have them remove it and get my money back. They sent another tech. I met with him and told him to look for the cut wires. He came back up and said that they'd used the wires that were cut. Surprise! Thought I was good but yeah basically the thing can run all day and not keep the house cool on 25degree days. Today I found out the concrete pad they placed the unit on is foam. Yup foamwitha wrapper that looks like concrete. Please stay away from this company. read more

Absolutely infuriating and dishonest what Action Furnace is doing to people. I will never use them again and will make sure there is more transparency in this industry. Some Context: We called Action Furnace to get an annual maintenance done on our furnaces. Upon check-up, the technicians mentioned that our heat exchanger had holes and we have a faulty blower motor - both needing replacement. We asked them if it was still under warranty, given that our furnace is less than 10 years old. They told us only the parts were covered under warranty but not the labour, resulting in a total cost +/-$3,000. Both technicians were very nice and I'm sure they were just going by what the company trained them to do/say. However, we wanted to get a second opinion, given how expensive our repair bill was going to be. We called several other HVAC companies and they have advised that the manufacturer actually provides a 10 year warranty on both parts and labour, resulting in us only being charged for the cost of the diagnostics fee of +/- $180. It is absolutely crazy what Action Furnace was doing. We were told by several HVAC groups that if it is under warranty, the manufacturer compensates these companies for the labour as well as the parts. Action Furnace was essentially double-dipping as they were collecting the money for the labour from the manufacturer and also charging us. Thank goodness we called around to get second opinions from other HVAC companies as our bill of +/- $3,000 from Action Furnace is actually only going to cost us +/-$180. I've attached a snippet of their actual invoice which was part of the +/-$3,000 bill. You guys should be ashamed of what you are doing to people. read more

Action Furnace Calgary pre-approved me for a central air-conditioning system in 2022. After installing it, they told me I was not approved for the loan. I asked them to remove the system, as it was not cooling the house properly - in which they sent a technician instead. The home is in my ex-husband's name - I was applying for the air-conditioner. My ex-husband was not a part of this transaction. Some how they fraudulently added his name to this transaction. They then proceeded to have a lawyer put a lean on my home - instead of removing the air-conditioning unit like asked. Action Furnace has refused to take the air-conditioner out of the home - regardless of their TWO YEAR satisfaction guarantee (the unit they gave is actually too small for the home), they have put a lean on a home that is NOT in my name, AND they fraudulently added my ex-husband's name to the transaction some how. read more

We had Action Furnace into our home to clean our ducts. While the technician was here, he replaced the saddle valve on the humidifier. The replacement valve leaked and caused water damage in our basement, affecting the carpet, underlay, baseboards and drywall. We asked the company owner for a full refund, which he has not provided. We asked the company owner to replace our carpet and the underlay. He has refused. Instead he provided band-aid fixes, such as blowers and a de-humidifier. He brought a moisture meter to our house that didn't read carpet, and kept telling us there was no moisture in the carpet. We bought a higher quality moisture meter that reads moisture on carpet, and showed the owner that there were areas of the carpet and drywall that had readings as high as 99% moisture. Currently we are left with wet carpet and a smelly basement. Today when we tried to ask again for a refund and carpet / underlay replacement, the owner walked out during our conversation. He then phoned us back moments later, and told us he "didn't have to stand there and be punished." The company has these two attached photos on their website, claiming that they have a property protection guarantee and that it's "fixed right or it's free". Both appear to be untrue. We haven't been able to use our basement for a month. All we want is a refund and for the carpet and underlay to be replaced. read more

These guys don't know air conditioning. After ten years of Action "technicians" coming to my home after installing an oversized condenser and having yearly freezing issues, we finally asked for a second opinion. The next company immediately knew the root cause of Action's initial mistake. And I had to pay him to install it, because Action would never admit they installed the wrong condenser. BEWARE! These guys don't want to make you comfortable. They don't help you after they make a mistake. They look at the numbers and manipulate how to lose the least amount of money on their own errors and omissions. I asked the owner to replace the oversized condenser after hiding from the truth for ten years. They wouldn't because somehow they wouldn't admit the root cause. He ghosted me, so I sued him. Here are my lessons learned: 1) they don't "fix it right or it's free". This was very costly over many years for me to finally get it right with a third party. 2) these guys give lip service and are only in the business for the sale. They don't service what they sell. 3) every employee and technician that worked my file was not allowed to respond in writing. When they spoke the truth on site, they were admonished by management. These guys knew they installed the wrong unit but were not allowed to replace it. 4) their initial installation broke all the (apparent) rules in air conditioning, including mating too big a condenser to a coil. The technicians told me often that they would never work with a Unico coil again. Little help that was for me. 5) the install of about $6000 of the condenser is small enough in terms of money the Action Furnace knows you won't go through the trouble and cost of a lawsuit. Like everything with these guys, it is about making a buck, not making it comfortable. 6) bottom line: ignorance of the law is no excuse, but ignorance of your trade will eventually catch up to the arrogance and ignorance of Action Furnace. Great experience! Action Furnace was able to send someone right away and Mason did an absolutely fantastic job diagnosing and fixing the problem we were experiencing with our furnaces. He took the time to explain the problem, showed picture/video of what he repaired and then advised us on how best to avoid similar issues and what to do with our HVAC equipment as it ages. Action was recommended to me by a co-worker - the best move I ever made was to have them replace my furnace with a new one, install an air conditioner, and replace my water softener. The staff was extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and considerate (I had two dogs to contend with). They left my home and yard extremely clean; did not leave any debris behind. I had a slight challenge with the water softener; the owner came out and had it remedied immediately. Would highly recommend them! read more

We hired Action Furnace to clean our AC unit. It ended up needing repair they did all of the work and fixed it. My issue was when they were fixing the AC unit they inspected our furnaces (we have 2). We were told that the one furnace was not working and needed a part that had to be replaced. This part would cost us over $1500 if they could even get it because our unit is from 2003 and it would take around 3 months to get the part. Their next recommendation was to fully replace the furnace. A month later I brought in another company just to confirm we needed to replace the furnace or fix the part. He tested both furnaces fully and they are both 100% functional and we 100% do not need to replace the furnace at this time. All I'm saying is get a second opinion!! read more

We hired Action Furnace to clean our heating system in July, 2020. The technician immediately started selling me on a full inspection, which I reluctantly agreed to. It didn't take him more then 20 minutes to discover that my heat exchanger was cracked and leaking water. The images showed some corrosion, but no water leak. When I asked him where the water was, he told me he had already cleaned it up. Another half hour goes by and he tells me he found a more serious CO2 leak. I was told that the furnace replacement was covered under warranty, but I would have to pay the $1,727.25 in labor. I was suspicious so I called another company (W&J Heating) and they confirmed that the furnace was fine. No cracks, no leaking water and most importantly no CO2 leak! Action Furnace didn't show me any CO2 readings to confirm this, compared to W&J Heating who walked with me through the entire house (inside & out) with a CO2 reader and discovered no leaks. More than six months later and a full winter of use and the furnace is perfectly fine. Action Furnace caused me a great deal of stress, thinking that my furnace was not safe or reliable. They are not trustworthy, confirmed by the Better Business Bureau rating of 1.71 out of 5. I recommend you never let this company in your house or at the very least get a second estimate before hiring them. read more

I have a number of great things to say about Action Furnace. I love the service that Action Furnace provides through Service Titan. The communication by text message keeps you informed on when your service tech is about to arrive. We purchased our furnace for our last house from Marc and it was a great experience. Marc provided an easy to understand quote, gave us a great price and our modulating gas and fan furnace after installation was awesome. We moved to our new (100 year old) house and Todd was tasked with getting our two furnaces serviced and vents cleaned. Although our HVAC situation is less than ideal, Todd did an absolutely fantastic job and was great with our dog who can be a bit cold to strangers. Todd was so good that we signed up for the monthly maintenance plan. read more

i wish there was a 0 stars option.... I used this company based on their A+ rating with the BBB, but I think that is grossly inflated. For a company that installs furnaces, they don't seem to know how to do that very well... 1. They installed the wrong furnace! A cheaper version than the one I ordered. I would never have known either, based on all their receipts and paper work, but I am a nerd who reads owners manuals, and noticed that the efficiency rating on the manual didn't match the unit I ordered... 2. they failed city inspection. 3 times. 3. Did I mention they failed the city inspection, 3 times? That is a bit much I think. My home is 100 years old, but there are no amazing surprises there, and the city inspector actually highlighted pages from the furnace instruction manual that they did wrong... I will say their customer service team were generally really good, but maybe they should put some more energy into hiring installers who know how to put in a furnace the first time, without city workers highlighting instruction manual pages for them. It's hard for me not to make this review sarcastic and angry. In the end, they did eventually get it right (so far, lets see if it explodes next week...) but I would say save yourself the aggravation and the days of missed work (waiting for city inspectors to come, they don't book a time, you just have to be home that day...) use someone else. read more

During this Covid19 crisis that is impacting each of us- it is a SHAME that Action Furnace supplies customers with false promises based on their company website - good honest work for fair billing. My furnace's on demand heat is fine but the fan constantly runs 24/7 I called Action Furnace and requested a serviceman to look at the issue - Fan constantly running on furnace. After they diagnosis they inform me that I need a part ($900) to fix this issue as the serviceman said my furnace was filling with water and this part would fix the fan from running continuously. Lo and behold after spending $1200 my furnace still blows cold air when not heating via on demand and they send out another guy today who says its my electrical (although the house is only 8 yo) Now arguing with mgmt. to give back my old part installed and refund all monies. As a woman living on her own during a global crisis I would expect companies to be honourable and decent people who recognize that honesty is critical - fix the problem and if you cannot then don't charge bogus diagnosis and repairs - Just want my money back and old part installed so I can afford to find a furnace company who can complete the work and not having now to pay double. read more

Had a A/C installed, failed inspection, had to have them come back 3 times to have it completed right! Also they approved the load on the panel for the AC unit knowing there was an existing hot tub thus exceeding the allowable load on the 100 amp panel. I requested a load calculation and was given the run around from there installation service manager for almost 6 months waiting for an answer. He would not answer me unless I called. Then would ask random questions to prolong the answer from there on staff electrician, with one last prompt from me after another month of no response i as told they would not provide the load calculation. THE FACT IT TOOK 6 MONTH FOR HIM TO TELL ME THEY WILL NOT HELP IS UN ACCPETABLE!!. I asked to speak with his boss and he said he would pass on my info. still have not heard from them. least to say this company will say anything to get a sale.. fully knowing a hotub and ac will not be approved on a 100 amp panel. read more

Someone came right away to do a quote and an install date was fast. My order was for a hot water tank and furnace. The furnace seems to be working fine, but isn't any quieter than the 30+ year furnace was. The hot water tank on the other hand was a big mistake. I was told the 40 gallon would perform better than my 10 year old 50 gallon. Not sure if it is the Rheem brand or I should have spent the extra money, but the hot water tank sucks. It didn't work properly for two days and does not have the capacity for even two people with regular use. I am disappointed by Action's responses and I am disappointed with the product that was installed in my house. I would not recommend them or Rheem. read more

My furnace stopped working on Friday and I called around to find someone to take a look at it. Action Furnace was able to come on the weekend for a fairly low service call fee so that seemed great. Well that is where the good news ended. Their technician came and made sure to tell me several times that he was their top technician. He identified a problem with one of the motors and also told me another part had been overheating and showed me that it looked discoloured, which he said was due to the over heating. Repairs were around $1200 so he suggested I just buy a new furnace for $4999. I wasn't sure what to think so I decided to get a second opinion. Sure glad I did. Yes he was correct that the motor had to be replaced. However, he wanted $799 to replace it, I paid $160 with another company. The second part that he said had been overheating and discoloured, well there was nothing wrong with that part. The other company explained they look discoloured right out of the package. So the Action Furnace technician was lying to me about that. Yes their service call charge is low, but their repair costs are absolutely outrageous and they lie about what repairs are required. Have not been so disgusted with a company in a long time! read more

We hired Action Furnace to replace the furnace in our house as well as garage. The quote was competitive and the installers were prompt. We had several quotes done and only Action Furnace said they could vent through the existing chimney while the other companies wanted to exhaust through the side of the house - directly under the kitchen window. I discussed this with the City Inspector, and he would not have approved the venting through the wall since there wasn't the necessary clearance required by law. The sales guy from Action Furnace was very knowledgeable, confident and definitely knew the technical side of the business. I have no issues recommending them. read more

I bought my house in Sept 2013, one of the selling features was that it had a new furnace just installed in Dec 2012. When the winter rolled around my basement would not warm up. So I called the company that installed the furnace( which was action). The receptionist said you have to pay for a maintenance check on the furnace every year for warranty purposes and that the tech could also tell me if there was anything wrong. When the tech came he said I had to close my upstairs vents to warm the basement. This never worked. So in spring I called a different company about A/C. Right away they new it was Action and said they always cut corners. My furnace is to big for my house, I have no return air vents on that floor and I have the wrong thermostat for the furnace altogether. So I called Action to see what they had to say about this... The owner talked in circles the whole time and said they would come put in the return air vents for $220 each. I had already arranged for the other company to do it for $300 for 3 of them. A proper thermostat. I would never recommend Action for anything unless when you require service you enjoy being talked in circles. read more

Our furnace had stopped working and we were told the ignitor needed to be replaced as it was the wrong voltage (even though it had worked just fine for the past 15 years) and cost us $500 +. Three days later the furnace stopped working again, so after 2 more service calls and $800 + later we were told it was the motor. Never ever would I use this company again. read more

The service tech was more focused on pushing sales than service. It cost $75 just to get a guy in. Their quote was incredibly high and they said my perticular layout was much trickier than average and would cost extra. Got a second opinion, FOR FREE, from a company recommended by a family member. Quote was almost half of action furnaces, and they said it was a basic straight forward job. Not impressed. I'd rate a 0 if possible. read more

I also wish there was an option for 0 stars. DO NOT sign up for their contract. The furnace cleaning is not really free. I signed up in December 2012 and I got a "free" furnace cleaning on April 2013. I had to pay extra for chimney cleaning, which I did not ask for nor did cleaning guy inform me that this needed to be done and will require me to pay an extra $78 approx (dont remember exact amount). Then, I called them and asked when my next cleaning is due and I was informed that it will be in a year i.e April 2014. So, I called them today the 26th of Feb, 2014 to schedule an appointment in April and also cancel my monthly contract as well after the cleaning is done. This is when they decided to inform me that I have to wait till December 2014 to cancel my contact if I want a free cleaning done in April and that my next free cleaning will be in Sept not April! I paid $22 from Dec 2012 till Feb 2014=$330 for one furnace cleaning job for a 2000 sq ft house. Could have gotten much better deals that this. read more

I had Action furnace install an A/C unit for me. The first installers left the thermostat set to 28 degrees when they left by mistake, the 2nd installer who came to balance the unit broke some glass in my basement and left the cover off of my furnace. My original work order was to have the unit put on a bracket and through some confusion with my wife and the installer they installed it on the ground. When I phoned to explain that it was suppose to be on a bracket they said it was no problem and they would fix it free of charge. After different 2 installers on 2 separate dates showed up and complained that is a lot of work and they won't do it for free, the office phoned me back a told me that they are no longer going to do it for free or even come to a middle ground agreement. They told me there are other furnace companies in Calgary and I should have them do it. Very disappointed. First installers were good, second installer was terrible, the people in the office will promise you the world and deliver on nothing. I would avoid this company read more
