Just found out about Action Cuts maybe 6 months ago and definitely reccomend it. After randomly getting paired with Erika, I have continued to come back and have her cut my hair. She is the best, super nice, has given me great reccomendations and hands down has given me the best cut since moving to Richmond. read more

I called on a Friday evening at 5:40 PM asking if they had any openings before the close at 8. I saw after googling that they were open until 8. The guy on the phone was abrupt and rude, giving me a "I don't have any opening tonight, go book online." Ok, so I went online and saw there were openings that night so I booked one for 7pm. I called right back to confirm and a woman answered this time. I said I was confirming to make an appointment I'd made online and she was quick to tell me that I would've gotten a receipt in my email. It seems as if they're so busy they don't want to answer the phone and talk to people. I had to explain to her about my previous phone call with the man who answered and how he said he had nothing left tonight, so I wanted to confirm with a human. She confirmed and tried to be as nice as she could but I could tell everyone was bitter because they were busy and I was calling on the phone. So sorry. Maybe yall shouldn't have a phone contact then? My husband was having issues finding parking on a Friday evening so I called again to let them know they were running late due to parking. The woman on the phone said it was fine because she was running behind also. But she appreciated that I'd called to tell her. I told my husband to get my son a side sweep fade. When my son came home, he had a marine crew cut. He looks like he's in the military. He also said the woman who did his hair rushed through it and was pulling on his hair a lot. We should never have even thought about leaving high point. My son was going on vacation to see his grandparents so it was a quick, "shit he needs a haircut before he goes." Stupid decision. Haircut sucked and the service was rushed from the initial rude phone call up until the semi painful haircut for my 8.5 year old. Won't be coming back. 2 stars. Rushed, rude, no parking, crappy haircut. The stars are for taking him in last minute. read more

Great haircut! I showed the stylist a picture of how I used to have my hair a few years back, and she was able to get it just right. They had a funny movie playing so it ended up being a pretty entertaining cut. I got the Actor's Cut (their basic cut) for $25. It's also good to see a solid barbershop that doesn't charge double that. read more

I've been hitting the gym a lot lately, losing some weight, gaining some confidence and I thought to myself why not get a new hair style? Why not get something aside from the middle aged dad? Get something with a little flash and sizzle. I should have known that Action Cuts could not deliver neither flash nor sizzle. What they could deliver is a haircut that makes me want to wear a hat. I had been going here for a couple of years and had great chemistry with one of the hair stylists until she left about 6 months ago. After she left I was forced upon another hair stylist who was serviceable but then, she left and I was passed to another like some game of hot potato. This most recent experience I came in and described my hair stylist what I was looking for, and offered to show a picture to which she declined. When she showed me my reflection in the chair it did not immediately jump out to me what had happened. Instead when I got home I realized that she had given me a hard part wide enough that a tractor trailer could comfortably drive down it. In addition to the lack luster haircuts, the employees have a way of talking about customers as soon as they leave. You are left sitting in a chair wondering what they are saying about you when you leave. Having to call every time to make an appointment is tedious at best. An online booking system would have been great. Regardless I do not recommend this place until they can manage the turnover and figure out some professionalism read more

People here are really friendly and take the time to get your hair the way you want it. I lived in Scott's Addition for a year and this was my go to place until I moved up north. They take note of how your hair was cut so they know exactly how to do it the next time you are in, or if you get someone else cutting your hair they would know what you got last time too. They have complimentary popcorn or water for you. You could buy a beer as well. They usually have movie trailers playing in the tv, sometimes music plays through them too. They may be under the radar compared to the other places in town (all of which are great and reputable), but the women at Action Cuts are all highly skilled at their trade, friendly, and have created a relaxing space for a cut. Action Cuts was a really nice and relaxing place. They've a nice old movie aesthetic with slight "manly" undertones. It's nothing too overwhelming like sports clips. I got my haircut by Jenny, the owner, and she was really nice despite a few awkward pauses. She nerded out with me about game of thrones and even told me about her passion for small business. That's why they have local beers rotating, which were pretty good. Action cuts is just a nice place to get a beer and a good trim. She cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and even saved it into their system so next time they'll know what I want. I used the check in coupon for a free beer and even got my haircut for $17. The $25 hair wash and cut seems a bit steep but maybe I'll do it next time. read more

Best haircut for the money in town! 17$! I've been coming here for a year now and every single time my haircut is exactly what I ask for. All of the ladies take their time and do a wonderful job.
