My Home warranty, American Home Shield, had contracted Action Appliance Services to for a call on a couple of my appliances--- over 2 weeks ago. I emailed them immediately with my availability, never heard back. Called and left a voicemail, never received a return call. I finally called today--and I have never in my entire life or career heard someone be so extremely rude on the phone. I work in customer support and talk to people on the phone everyday. I was just asking if she could pass along information to the contractor to see if we could prepare our appliances for the call or even do like a "pre-diagnosis" which is something AHS says a contractor may call you to do, a few days before an appt. I explained that last time I had someone come out, I realized my stove was actually stuck where it is, because the counter must had been built after the stove was placed there. She started talking about my dishwasher and referencing my floor being built and if that's a problem, they maybe won't be able to help me. I explained, that wasn't was I was saying exactly, and said " no worries, its fine, its fine-- I will just wait til I speak with the contractor later today on the phone.' This woman WENT OFF! She completely took it personally-- and started saying things like "I am not just a dumb woman!" "You are trying to dismiss me with the wave of a hand, and I am not STUPID". These are her delusions--- I never called this person stupid--- and the fact she was describing these sentiments only expressed by herself, as my own thoughts and including ~body gestures~ that didn't exist since this was a phone call, proves that this was a grandiose delusion she made up herself. After she started accusing me of calling her stupid and dumb, there was no way to realign on this call. She was screaming incessantly and unwilling to hear anything I had to say. Even if she asked me a question, she did not allow me to speak. I asked if I could speak with someone else because this was ridiculous and I just wanted to wait to speak with the contractor, and I didn't think she was dumb or stupid. She continued screaming at me, and told me I could find someone else because they weren't going to provide me service. I don't know if she heard me, but I said after the way she treated me, she might be lucky enough to not even have to provide any services to any American Home Shield customer's again. I wish I could THANK her, after reading these reviews. This woman is ABUSIVE and UNPROFESSIONAL, and I am sure that trickles down throughout the entire company. AHS has escalated this, and will be reviewing the reviews here and elsewhere, and will-if they are smart-cease any contracts with Action Appliance in the future. I can't truly describe what this call was like accurately, because it was so triggering--- I hung up the phone and hysterically cried like I was an abused child. I have been in customer service for over 15 years, and I have also been a consumer-- my entire life-- and NO ONE has ever EVER broke me like this--- I am actually embarrassed by how she made me feel. I am also embarrassed for HER. She should be completely ashamed of herself. For the other people this woman made feel awful--- the reviewer above, who this receptionist/owner said "probably has no friends, and she feels bad for her husband" -- I am so sorry that this happened to you too!! I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews on here. I filed a claim through my home warranty company, and they hired Action Appliance for the repair. Within 24 hours, Action Appliance called me to schedule the repair. Tom came out to the house and was very friendly and knowledgeable. He determined my fridge needed a new ice maker and flipper. He explained that the home warranty company would be ordering parts, and when they arrived, he would install them. Action Appliance called on a thursday, asking if they come the next day to install, which they did. This was my best experience dealing with a home warranty repair and it was all because of Action Appliance. read more

Action Appliance accepted a service call from a home warranty for a refrigerator that was not cooling. They scheduled to arrive four days later, did not show up, did not call, did not respond to voice messages and then cancelled because our home was outside of their service area. This blocked other providers from picking up the call sooner. I would not recommend using them. A complaint with the Better Business Bureau is also pending. read more

If I could leave zero stars I would. The most UNPROFESSIONAL customer service experience I've ever had. I submitted a claim for my leaking dishwasher to AHS, my hime warranty company, on Friday evening. I called them directly to follow up, and leave my name Ans number and issue. I was NOT expecting a call back immediately as it was a Friday, but thought I'd get a call to schedule service Monday. I heard nothing. Tuesday came and I called later morning to leave a message and follow up again. Service was scheduled for Thursday. I was told someone would contact me Wednesday. I did receive a voicemail with time stamp of 4:30. Gentleman on VM asked if I would be around first thing. I didn't get this message til late as I was at work until 11pm And in able to check messages until then. Thursday morning 8-12, I waited. No call no show. Thought maybe he'd be calling to come in the afternoon, or show up. I had to leave for work but my mother came over to wait for him. No call no show. When I called today (Friday) afternoon to see what happened and see if we could schedule immediate service the woman I spoke with was beyond rude I have never been spoken to like that in my life I wasn't irate I wasn't upset I was just trying to understand what happened she repeatedly kept telling me the gentleman that was supposed to be coming for service kept calling me and I never answered I find that interesting because when he had called Wednesday I saw his number and I got a voicemail Thursday I saw no missed calls I had no missed voicemails from this person. is it a possibility he dialed the wrong number? maybe. But I had no missed calls or voice mails. she berated me for waiting until late Friday to make a phone call....not that it's any of her business but my child is SERIOUSLY Ill. It came on in the middle of the night. I was caring for my sick child all this morning Ans afternoon so I was unable to make the phone call until the afternoon. And her "I know the customer is always supposed to be right but you're wrong here" she said that she wouldn't be doing service and perhaps call my home warranty and find someone else that could provide service and work better with my time. Like, EXCUSE ME? At no point in our conversation was I rude I was just trying to understand what happened because things do happen from time to time but the way she spoke with me if that's how they treat their customers I can only imagine what the service would be like I would not recommend this place to anyone they're not good about following up they're not good about getting back to customers and the woman who "checks all the messages and talks to all of the clients" is the rudest customer service person I have ever dealt with in life. She basically called me a liar when I said that I had called Friday and left a message and that she didn't call me back I said you never called me back on Monday I had to follow up on Tuesday and she's basically telling me I'm a liar. I had been luke warm about their service when they were sent through the insurance company to assess my washing machine, but I NEVER left a review about them. The next day the receptionist called me. I assumed it was to set up a repair date. Instead, she out of the blue accused me about a negative review she allegedly saw me leave somewhere. I had NOT written a review and told her as much. She accused me of lying when I told her I hadn't written a review. Even if I had, rudely confronting me about it and telling me that she wasn't rude seemed a little crazy. If a business was concerned about reviews, wouldn't a follow up call be more about wondering how they could make it right? By the end of the call actual quotes from her mouth were "I feel sorry for your husband." and "I'll bet you have no friends." So. Insane. So, I'm thinking they probably don't plan to actually come and repair my washing machine at this point, but I'm waiting to hear back from our insurance company to see if they're going to send someone else out. It's ironic that her false accusations of having written a bad review are what prompted me to write what I'm pretty sure is my first ever bad review. read more

They came to repair my dishwasher that was under warranty and didn't bring the right part with them. They never came back. I called back for months and left messages. At one point they said that they would just "drop the part off and we could install it ourselves". They never even did that! I called, left messages, no returned call. Ridiculous. Repeated messages left by myself and husband not returned over the next month. Finally a rather abrupt female returned call.said part would be in with 1-2 days, would call to schedule repair. Mind you this is 5 weeks after initial diagnostic visit! crickets.....nothing but radio silence. This is the most unprofessional, unreliable, and incompetent company you could choose. The receptionist is always rude. Calls are never returned. Service appointments are canceled and never rescheduled. The service technician was unable to fix our problem on the initial visit, and said he was going to check on some parts and would give us a call back the following week. After not hearing back I tried unsuccessfully to reach them. Finally, after 3 weeks of calling, I got back in touch with the technician who told me that I agreed on the previous visit that there was nothing more that could be done, and that I was ok with that! Tom told me he will be at the house between 12-3... I rearranged my schedule so that I would be at home during that time. He called the house at 11:00am, I was not able to pick up the phone - he left a message saying that I will have to reschedule since I was not home. I called the office back at 11:15 - -- the woman was no help -- she dispatched me to TOM. He was rude and argumentative saying that it is my fault that I did not pick up the phone. I reminded him of the time frame of 12-3 he had given me - - and he said "well, I can't wait all day I am not in your area, call someone else", and hung up on me. We made a terrible decision by calling Action Appliance today for assistance with our refrigerator. We were told by their receptionist that the service technician would call to let us know when he would be arriving. The service technician did not end up calling and when he arrived at our house, we unfortunately did not hear him knock on the door. We called Action Appliance immediately and asked if they had time to come back. The service technician told my wife that the earliest he could return would be next week. Somewhat frustrated at this point (because they didn't call to let us know when they would be arriving), my wife expressed her concerns with waiting a week to potentially fix the refrigerator. The service technicians response was "that's not my problem, answer your door next time". At that point, my wife said we would be calling someone else to fix our refrigerator. She was then told by the service technician that he feels terrible for whoever ends up working with us. I was honestly very surprised and thought I would call Action Appliance and speak with a manager to report the issue....thinking they would like to know about this extremely unprofessional employee. Long story short, their receptionist answered and started a rant about us "young people" and how "it is always their fault" and my wife is a liar...on and on and on. Then I was told the service technician was actually the business owner.....unbelievable. I was truly trying to help them potentially coach an employee to ensure something like this doesn't happen again. Needless to say, we do not recommend wasting your time with Action Appliance. I fully expect a reply to this review from the lovely receptionist at Action Appliance. In fact, she said she would be on the lookout for any negative reviews.....get ready for a rant full of lies...should be interesting. read more

We called Action Appliance to fix our electric oven. They were able to send someone out within an hour. The repair man seemed nice. The problem ended up being with our electric outlet not the oven itself so the repair wasn't able to fix it. I like that he knew he wasn't able to fix it and didn't try a million expensive things. The service call was only $65, and would have been waived if he was able to repair the oven. read more

We have a Thermador oven that the main board needed repair. We have been without an oven for three months and the entire experience with Action Appliance has been a fiasco. They first sent out a repairman that couldn't even figure out how to take the oven apart. I told them to never send that guy again and send someone out who actually understood how to take apart an oven. They did send someone a week later that was competent and he took away the master control board saying it needed to be rebuilt. There were issues with rebuilding this board because Thermador no longer supported this oven... every interaction with getting the board rebuilt was made difficult by the main customer service person at the company who seems to think it's ok to berate and chide any customer that she doesn't care for. This is the worst customer service I have ever had in my entire life. So... THREE MONTHS without an oven and they finally send out the repaired board with... GUESS WHO? The same guy that couldn't take the oven apart in the first place. He says it is more than he can handle and starts to walk out the door. I call the same awful customer service woman... tell her that we haven't had an oven in three months and they have to send out someone TODAY that can fix this... she screams at me on the phone... meanwhile the guy is trying to get out the door with the main board to our oven that WE OWN and he will not give it back to me... I leave the screaming woman on the phone and try to stop the guy from going out the door with the part to our oven that we own... he says we haven't paid for it yet and I say I will pay CASH right now for it... but he refuses and the awful customer service woman calls his cell phone saying she will call the police if I don't let him out the door... so I let him go... we still don't have our oven repaired... I will update this report as things play out. BUT DO NOT EVER USE ACTION APPLIANCE... THEY ARE MEAN ON THE PHONE... Their repairmen don't understand how to take the front of an oven off... No stars was not an option. I called and scheduled an appointment to fix my dryer. Tom showed up as scheduled which was a good start. However, I diagnosed the fan belt was broke prior to him coming. He came and changed it. It seemed pretty quick at 45 min. The dryer turned on and got hot and it appeared to work so I paid him 160 dollars. However, 2 days later when I went to use it and put clothes in it; it didn't spin. After, I called and called to have him come back. No return call for over a week. I explained it wasn't fixed when after a week or more I finally got a hold of someone. At one point, the answering machine didn't even come on to leave a message. It is truly a rip off company, and it should be ashamed to do this to good people. read more

My Boss called to have her dryer looked at. My boss is a small business owner and she spends 14 hours a day at her office starting at 7 a.m. She gave out her work number to be reached at and missed the original phone call from the technician. She was told a technician would be at her house between 10 - 2. The appliance repair man showed up at 8:50 a.m. and left a note. My boss called the company back to see if she could catch the repair man before he got to far and left a message. The owner is a woman and she was the person that returned the phone call, from the second I answered the phone she was very hostile and rude. She picked a fight with me and yelled her way through the whole conversation. I had asked her to please calm down and stop being so confrontational and she kept yelling and said that I was the problem. In the end she said that she would give the phone number to the technician and that he might be able to stop back. Though to be honest I don't have much faith that she will pass the phone number on. read more

They misdiagnosed my drawer repair costing a week delay but were able to repair with parts on truck the second time August 2014. The same part went bad 16 months later. I called for a repair one week ago and they scheduled for today. I called Lowes Warranty Service for help with our 2-1/2 year old refrigerator under Lowes extended warranty. Action Appliance was scheduled to come out on July 2, 12-4pm. I waited. No-show. No call. I called Lowes warranty service who called Action Appliance and left voice mail. The lady called back and rescheduled for the next day for 7:30-8:00am show. I got a phone call at about 7:25 while "seeing a man about a horse". The caller ID said "Restricted". I don't answer calls from "Restricted". I waited for the voice mail. "I'm at your door." His voice trailed off as he was leaving his number and I didn't get the number. I called Action Appliance. She said she would have him turn around and come back. After courteously complaining about their lack of communication with me about coming to my house, she said she disagreed with me and said "Well, you can discuss it with anyone you want. I'll just tell him to cancel." and hung up on me... I called Lowes Warranty service and they rescheduled with another service company. We will have to wait and see how that goes. I won't know until after the 4th of July. read more

I set up an appointment but needed to change my whole day around just so I was going to be able to be back home at the requested time. Then they call an hour ahead of the appointment and tell me that they will come right now or not at all. Why? Because they were running ahead of schedule and did not feel like they honoring their promise to come at the arranged time. No emergency that they needed to attend, or accident that prevented them from coming, they just felt like they could make more money breaking their promise. When I complained, there was no apology or offer of compensation just a woman telling me it was unreasonable of me to expect that they would be there at the promised time just because they promised it. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. RECEPTIONIST IS DISRESPECTFUL, RUDE, AND LIES-- and this is when she answers the phone! Plus they are slower than imaginable. Action appliance diagnosed a faulty part on my ice maker. They were sent to me through my home warranty company. The service person said it would take approximately 1 week for the part to come in. This was November 20th. They quickly cashed my check and also accepted the remainder due from the home warranty company. I called two weeks later and was told the part would be in any day, shipping was slow with the holidays. I called again two weeks later and left a message without response. I finally got ahold of the reptionist in mid January. She filed the invoice under complete (as in they took the money, filed the service as complete, but nothing was ever fixed). I scheduled an appointment for the following week. Today I waited until 3 pm and had not received a call. When I called the woman was rude and said it was my fault because I didn't call until 3 pm. She also said she hadn't received payment from the home warranty company. I asked for my deductible back and she said $75 is that much and she didn't understand what I thought they were doing with my money. In my world $75 for receiving nothing and waiting over two months for a simple repair is a lot of money. The repair is supposed to be completed tomorrow-- January 22nd! Two months and 2 days to fix an ice maker...plus I sat at home for an entire when I could have been working. read more

I set up an appointment with a woman who said someone would call me thy 8am the day of my appt and give me a window of 2 hours when the repairman would be there. I assumed that since they were calling by 8am that the repairman would be there in the morning. So I take a half day off work so I can be home. The day of the appt arrives and I get a call at 7am by Tom who states he'll be there between 3-5pm. I agree to those times, leave the house and go to work. I leave work in time to make it home by 3. I get a call on my way back home (20-25 minutes away) from Tom who says he is outside my house (2:25pm). I told him he'd have to wait since I'm 25 minutes away. He then begins to argue with me that he told me he'd be there between 2-5 and that I was his last appointment of the day. What happened to the 2 hour window he and the woman gave me? I asked why he can't just wait since I was his last appt and on my way. He had no answer except that "I can't wait 25 minutes". Even though I was the last place he had to be for the day. Some customer service that is. I've been without a working fridge for a week now and since this jerk couldn't wait 25 minutes it looks like it'll be even longer. We started using this company a few years ago when we bought a new washer and dryer that only a few companies service. Over the years I would say their service was adequate, but not great. However recently things have taken a severe downward spiral. I called for service on our dryer. I probably should have realized there was a problem, when the suggested solution was to use a screwdriver to take apart the lint catcher every few loads. But, we went with that for awhile, until I called again. This time they recommended a new part, which we ordered and installed. The new part did not work and so after awhile of using the screwdriver, decided to try again. Nothing was done on that service call, but was told they would call me. They did and when I returned their call was verbally abused, totally without provacation and basically from the first words uttered, by the man who answered the call. He refused to stand behind their service or part because it had been installed over 30 days ago (have I mentioned how long it takes to get them to come out when you call for an appointment?). I am not sure if this is how they deal with customers when they realize they have not adequately fixed the problem, but it was the last straw for us. I have made some calls and found someone else who services this brand - Action Appliance will not step foot in our home again. read more

This place is a joke and I would highly recommend another appliance repair place. I have dealt with these people several times as I have a Lowe's appliance warranty on several of my appliances and I basically have no choice to work with this company in Pittsburgh. The poor rating stems from: 1.) Poor communication and appointment timeframes- typically you get 1 call the day before the appointment stating an estimated window of arrival, rarely do they hold true & no phone call to let customers know of any changes or failed attempt of knocking on the door (could be in yard, shower, upstairs with phone). It shouldn't be the case that we wait patiently all day around our front doors! 2.) Diagnosis and ordering parts- The technicians are inconsistently competent. While one or two technicians may be effective in their jobs and correctly diagnose, communicate, and repair, the majority of the technicians get it wrong and suggest ordering parts that you don't need. There is no cost to me other than my time because I have a warranty, but it makes me wonder whether this company is taking advantage of charging Lowes for their unnecessary replacement parts and service while not fixing the actual problem OR they have been poorly trained- I can't tell! Nonetheless, it wastes my time and I as well as anyone else would get extremely frustrated. In summary, I have had these people at my house at least 6 times over the last 3 years and believe that my opinion is not based on little interaction. Instead, I have strong support why this company is ineffective and will cause you more problems than you initially started with. read more
